74 Main at Millstone
We had a lovely evening. Nice corner booth and Janet was an attentive server. Our order was well prepared and served. The only objection is that three of us ordered salads prior to our meals. One of those three meals came with a salad, a fact that was not noticed by us or pointed out by our server. After three had eaten the salads, the main course was served and Janet brought another salad, giving it to the diner whose meal came with a salad and who had already consumed one salad. It would have seemed easier to credit back one of the ordered salads than to bring the extra, as all 4 salads were the same.
We will be back. Always a good experience to dine here. Especially appreciate being able to make reservations via Open Table.
We enjoyed delicious food recommended by our fabulous server, Megan. Our recent experiences have been wonderful and so we returned several times this winter. The staff is all so friendly, food delicious and as described. Nice wine selection, and the wait staff was cognizant of non- drinkers important needs.
We can’t wait to return!
The service was exceptional and the food tasted wonderful but could have been hotter.
Our usual great experience, made so by Megan, our favorite Food Service Professional. Thank you!
Staff was friendly and attentive. A better understanding of beer types would be helpful.
Food was very good. Steak tips, and prime ribs were perfect.
Draft beer selection was limited.
Room noise due to customers was a bit loud.
Overall, a great experience, and will go again
This restaurant is just a few weeks away from being pretty good. Both the soup and caesar salad were exceptable, but nothing stood out about them...croutons weren't homemade and soup wasn't very hot and limited flavor. All those issues seem correctable, tho. The restaurant itself was a bit tired. Everything needs updating before we'll go back.
Food was very good. One in our party ordered medium rare steak tips that were somewhat over done. But our server took prompt care of it and a 2nd serving came that was just right. Ambience was very nice and service prompt and efficient. Would definitely return.
My second visit and review in the past 5 months. Like my previous review, 74 Main has not lived up to it's prior reputation. I ordered the Lobster Pho special of the day while the wife ordered the Chicken Marsala.
The Vietnamese Pho dish is an Asian spiced broth soup, usually based on meat, with rice noodles, herbs and vegetables; it is a common street food in Vietnam. I figured since it was a special and made with lobster I would give it a try.
The broth tasted overly salty and had a mild soy sauce flavor to it and I don't recall seeing any onions, a key ingredient, in it. It lacked typical Asian spices like coriander, cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, fennel, etc. Now, I do understand that with lobster you have to be careful with not overdoing the spices but the overall meal was very bland. The rice noodles were angel hair thin unlike the typical thick rice noodles in a traditional pho. The vegetables, usually served as a side garnish to be added at the table to the broth, were instead cooked in the soup. Considering the abundance and relatively low price of Maine lobster in New England, the only lobster in the bowl was less than one claw's worth.
The wife's chicken marsala was tastier but nothing to rave about. Overall, the food was OK but not worth the above average prices 74 Main charges.
Service was great and efficient.
NYE, food not as impressive as I recall
Food was good. I loved the sweet potato/potato agratin. And the chocolate moose pie that was on special. Yum.
I found the baked stuffed shrimp and the chocolate mousse desert to be quite good. In all, a very pleasant destination for Christmas Eve dinner.
Though we chose a simple meal, everything was cooked, served and presented with absolutely no troubles.
Using OpenTable for the first time was also quite effortless, and our hostess was expecting us...seating us in a quiet and ideal spot for our Anniversary diner.
I do not often review a restaurant, but this deserves comment.
The Millstone at 74 Main is an ideal location for anyone looking for a fine dinging experience for a special occasion.
Great food and service.
Wonderful evening with good friends. Flynn was an excellent server, so customer focussed! The specials were delicious and dessert, turtle cheesecake, was sinfully good.
Came back for the mussels. Nice.
My salmon was very good, but my husband's turkey dinner was not great...turkey was dry. He said it all tasted like it has been sitting under a heat lamp
Had a reservation and were seated promptly even tho we were a little bit early. Always dismayed about why they seat you right next to an already occupied table when all the rest of the tables in the area are empty. Started right out with an excessive wait for the drinks we ordered. Food was good, nicely presented. Service remained lagging the whole night. We waited a very long time to be asked if we wanted dessert, even tho the crowd had thinned considerably by that time. Have been to this restaurant many time and usually do have a better experience.
We had another great meal here. Food was delicious. Service attentive but not overbearing. A long drive from Lebanon but well worth it!!!
The crispy potstickers appetizer is excellent. Service was great. One of our favorite restaurants in the area.
We waited 25 minutes for our food and it was terrible...we couldn’t wait to leave
Delighted to see so many dining with you on Saturday night. Especially enjoyed the usual flawless service by Megan. See you again soon.
Food was ok and large portions. Service was friendly but there was a very long wait between appetizers and dinner. We arrived early around 5 so it was not crowded. No explanation was given for the long wait.
Went for a light dinner on the weekend. Pleasant staff and fresh food. The mussels were perfect. Fish tacos flavorful and asparagus salad was tasty. We’ll be back again.
First time customers, The food and waitstaff were exceptional- except for the desert we ordered apple crisp the skillet was set to be HOT and was not the apple crisp was very crisp and very cold.
Our waitress was very friendly and helpful when asked about the wine selection. The food was very good and atmosphere was also very good. We were seated promptly. Will go back and will recommend.
It's such a favorite that it's the "go-to-place" for me and many of my friends.
The service by Ms. Megan Swain, who has become our Personal Food Service Professional, was superb as usual. The cuisine was worthy of the service. We look forward to returning. Thank you!
Another great time. Superb service - thanks, Megan!
Sat in the bar and it was noisy. Sunny Honey dressing on salad very good. Fish tacos good but really spicy. Chicken fajitas good
I've been to the Millstone a few times, but this visit was the least pleasant. Two areas of dissatisfaction: my sandwich (Turkey BLT) was dry and relatively devoid of flavor; and the service was mediocre ( while friendly, I needed to ask three times for my coffee). My wife's sandwich was better (we shared) and the salad was very delicious. I'll come again, as my earlier experiences had been better.
We had a great evening celebrating our friends birthday. Our waitress was wonderful, the meal was terrific, the staff sang happy birthday to our friend, and one waitress who did not join in the song asked if she could sing and dance for him. She was the ending to a perfect evening. Thank you so much!
I had not been to the restaurant for several years. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday and knew it had a quiet, graceful ambience. I ordered the Coquilles St. Jacques. The scallops were swimming in a bland, watery sauce with some mushrooms thrown in. The scallops were small but there was about a dozen of them so enough for a meal.
The waitress was pleasant and efficient. If this had been my first time there I would not be going back for the food. However, we will probably be trying it again but not too soon.
We always have a great dinner at Millstone at 74 Main. Good service and pleasant atmosphere too.
Very nice find in a small town. Solid regular menu with interesting daily specials as well.
A very noisy party of 12 sat next to us, we could barely hear one another and our server was consumed with that group.
The best prime rib I've ever had, and cooked exactly as requested. My sister's salmon was also delicious! We were seated by a picture window overlooking the garden and after a long day at the NH Craftsman's fair was the perfect way to relax. Thank you 74 Main.
Delicious food. Always have a great experience when dining at the Millstone.
Megan was an excellent server! Thanks for the wine recommendation and the gazpacho!
Overall good experience. Would go again. Food was pretty good.
My husband felt that his chicken was burned rather than grilled, rice bland, and very little lobster in the lobster bisque relative to prior excellent bisque filled with lobster meat. Perhaps just an off night, as former meals have been fine.
