Food was unimpressive. Wine pairing was strange in that the wine actually got worse when tasted with the food.

Not sure where any stars came from.

Not a great experience this time around. I am a frequent diner at Michelin stars and have been to Acadia before. This time the food was missing character - the quantity was not up to the mark - came back with half stomach full .
Only a couple of items were satisfying in terms of taste but most were not week thought through esp for someone with shell fish allergy eg replacing lobster with shallot —- like seriously, they couldn’t find any fish to replace lobster. My experience from a couple of years back was amazing - this time not so good rather disappointing

I've been to Acadia before, several years ago. I remember it as a terrific little spot trying to punch a hole in the universe from the near south-side of Chicago in an up-and-coming neighborhood.

It was a good meal, and I bookmarked to myself that I needed to come back here when they've had a few years under their belt.

For a series of uninteresting reasons, this year we decided to go to a restaurant for Thanksgiving instead of doing it at home, as we've always done...Acadia, I've heard and read had a terrific Thanksgiving tradition...so why not? Right?

How Acadia, which when I previously visited had a single Michelin star, had garnered TWO stars is beyond me.

Service - cold, impersonal. We had an afternoon reservation, we were seated promptly (kudos there!), and that was pretty much the highlight of the afternoon. The service was inconsistent at best. Wine would be poured at the wrong moment in between courses. Silverware would be practically thrown on the table and not placed where it should be - again we're talking about a TWO MICHELIN STAR RESTAURANT here. Setting silverware properly should be de rigor here. Water preferences were not inquired about (still or sparkling is a standard line at even no-star restaurants in 2019!).

The pacing was horrendous. We felt exceedingly rushed. Dessert arrived within 5 minutes of us finishing the last bite of our mains. What. The. Heck. Again - this is a TWO MICHELIN STAR RESTAURANT. Typically, in between mains and dessert courses there's a question that's standard - would you like an after dinner drink? Coffee perhaps? A dessert wine maybe?

Nada.

Even when I specifically asked for the wine list after mains...it showed up after dessert (which included some ice cream, so time-sensitive dish here)...at which point you're so disheartened as to be done with
the whole experience.

Food wise - it was okay. It was not two-star cuisine, by any stretch. Completely forgettable.

The food was ok I have certainly had better food at a 1 star Michelin restaurant and other non Michelin restaurants. Being that it was a 2 star I expected the food to be the best I had had. It was most certainly not. One of the courses served was nearly inedible, a simple clash of bad flavors that worked against each other. I felt it was exceptionally over priced given the quality. I was quite disappointed.

Great tasting menu dinner. The service was as expected for two star restaurant and the main courses were amazing. Wagyu was amazing and seafood selections were great as well. Wine pairings had some real winners in main courses. The reason for four stars and not five were the last two desert courses. Not sure what the attempt was but was disappointing compared to earlier courses.

Service was abominable. Even after we complained about slow and indifferent service. It took 30 minutes from being seated to get my wife's drink and to get any food. Several times our wine glasses were empty for quite some time and no one came to ask if we wanted more -- which we did. This should never happen at a restaurant of this quality and expense. We will not be returning.

With expectations higher than the actual experience, Acadia disappointed me. The food, while often lovely and inventive, never crossed the line of totally sublime.

This was a wildly disappointing meal. Two dishes were texturally unpleasant goop. The lobster was rubbery. Nothing stood out as memorably good. Perhaps the flavor and texture profile was incompatible with my tastes and those of my companion, but it was a mediocre meal.

Fantastic meal at Acadia. I sat for the new Fall tasting and it was simply spectacular. Inventive combinations, perfect execution and beautiful plating. Particular standouts were the Thai snapper and Rohan duck dishes. Both were amazing booth in their execution as well as their flavors.

Acadia is a beautiful room, featuring attentive and warm service. The wine program featured a number of smaller, less known European producers very well matched to the dishes and I learned quite a bit about the selections.

All in all very deserving of their 2 Michelin star rating! Just a superb meal with a Chef and Team that obviously care. Bravo!

Nothing about this restaurant is worth spending money on. The ambiance didn’t match the menu, the menu itself was unimpressive, and nothing about the experience was special or even worth mentioning. I refuse to believe it’s an actual restaurant with TWO Michelin stars.

There are special occasions when only a restaurant like Acadia fit the bill. And Acadia does not disappoint. Service is attentive and thoughtful without being stuffy or obtrusive. The atmosphere is calm and peaceful -kinda zen-like. They fixed menu takes you on a journey of texture, beauty, and flavor. The food is impeccable everytime.
Ive been to a few Michelin starred restaurants and while they are all good some leave you feeling less satisfied than Acadia. Beautiful place for a date and the lounge in front has a more casual menu with one of the best burgers, fries, and lobster rolls you can find anywhere. The drinks and wine list are also very well curated.

A very underwhelming and disappointing experience from start to finish. Attention to detail was lacking and service was perfunctory, cold, and impersonal. I can’t understand how Acadia has two Michelin stars... it does not compare to other restaurants in this category.

The presentation was very pretty showing a lot of efforts, but the food was okay. None of the 10 course meals were hot or warm and the dishes were tiny that still hungry after dinner. Some services were good but some were not.

Visually appealing plates. Impeccable service though slow in between courses. Beet and foie gras with truffle courses were delicious. The remaining 8 courses and wagyu supplement (akin to spam robatayaki but not as palatable and not worth $75) were 20% fair and 80% “why am I here?” Wine pairings were interesting at first. I can appreciate a bit of funk in a wine but it appeared that someone was on a funk pilgrimage when selecting them and did not know when to stop. Challenging but not gratifying. The lime granita shavings on avocado sorbet was refreshing but the dessert (donut hole that tasted like fish) was a serious miss and a terrible finish. I was progressively disappointed over the course of 11 bites and informed the manager that he would have to hear my opinion of the food if I were to pay the several hundred (no joke) dollar price for a meal I largely did not enjoy. He listened politely and reduced my ticket to less that half. That seemed fair. Overall, creative but not successful.

the main course "pork and melon" was an absolute disaster. this restaurant is not worth michelin 2 star. Seems "creative" on the surface, but there's no thought, originality, or good taste to most of their dishes.

It was ok.

Service was great. Of the 10, at least 3 courses hit the mark. The rest weren’t, in my opinion, Michelin 2 star standard.

One odd suggestion- for people like me who have trypophobia, the plate in the picture is quite unpleasant.

great value for a 2 Michelin star restaurant. Chef McCasky is doing some great things behind the kitchen and presenting the experience in an inviting way. Acadia is one of the few restaurants I can enjoy fine dining with a relaxed environment that came out to a shockingly affordable price. the gratuity added didn't feel like it was enough based on the whole experience. voluntarily increasing the tip was no problem, and anytime I can enjoy something elegant like diver scallop and trout roe while listening to a tribe called quest, gets bonus points from me. definitely a must try in Chicago.

The food at Acadia was amazing. I loved the presentation of each course - each having its own story. This made for a very special evening. My reason for the 4 stars is that the service felt very rushed at the beginning. We did the wine pairings and the next course would arrive before we finished our wine pairing. At the end of the meal we had the opposite- sitting and wondering when they would bring us the next course. If the service had been more consistent, this would be a 5 star review

Acadia is currently hands down the best dining experience in Chicago. While I wouldn't consider myself a foodie, I have been to several Michelin starred restaurants in town. From the moment we arrived, to the time I was in a cab, I felt that my wife and I were cared for. The food was beyond excellent, and the service was top notch.
