Alex's Washington Gardens
Always great service. Great food. And goid value. Staff from hostess, to server, to buser all do their jobs with smiles. Server was very informed. Super menu and great bar.
Food was delicious and service was wonderful. Had a marvelous time
New ownership at this established eatery. Staff is friendly and warm. Service is prompt. Food is excellent. Will return.
Food continues to be the key. Service was off this night. Seemed understaffed. We'll be back.
One of My All Time Favs
Great as Always...
Too The New Owners ...
Jim sends weekly emails for WG...full of wit and charm and love of his family business...which shows in the family recipes served at the restaurant. Event though it is a bit noisy...it is SO WORTH going to AWG! Highly recommend.
Pizza is the best ever! There is something for everyone. Love it.
I had the teriyaki salmon and it was swimming in the sauce. Way too much of it. My husband had the veal parm and it was not tender. The ambiance was nice and they gave us a quieter table because of a hearing problem. Overall, I would try again. The salad was very good.
Taken Mom out.
Food was delicious as always
Fresh season for Walleye Pike which was prepared using the original recipe of 37 years ago. It was absolutely delicious. One of our favorite “go-to’s”!
Love Washington Gardens, but on this visit the service fell way below what I’m accustomed to at this great neighborhood place. This review reflects only my most recent visit. Usually, the place is terrific.
One of my favorite places! Great for all occasions.
As always, great food, however service was a bit disappointing.
We love this restaurant but service was really slow tonight and they were not busy.
Food and service were superb!
Our daughter was visiting from NYC and always enjoys returning to AWG, as do we. Started with The calamari appetizer. Nicely fried and lightly breaded with a tasty cocktail sauce. For entrees, daughter enjoyed a salad with grilled shrimp while my wife and I had chicken Parmesan. Combine with a delightful Two Sisters Cabernet, a slice of scrumptious chocolate cake to share for dessert, and a wonderful server like Beth; you have the Rx for a very satisfying evening.
Service can be hurried food is decent although not as authentic and old-school as you would expect definitely way too many items on the menu probably about 100 too many
pizza is amazing other entrées can be hit or miss
food and atmosphere is good. they need one additional server during evening dinner times
Authentic minestrone. Very nice chicken limona. Fresh tasting green beans and a small portion of pasta round out the dish. Skip the house white wine. Classic old style Italian.
The food was fantastic!! I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Food and Service were outstanding! First visit and will return again.
We only ordered pizza and it was one of the best I've ever had! That's saying a lot for a life long Chicagoan!
One of our favorite restaurants on the North Shore ... excellent food, service and atmosphere. Would highly recommend this special one of a kind Italian spot to anyone!
Had a great meal they are offering the al Forno recipe from the old My Favorite Inn “Willies” it was awesome brought back some great memories the red of our food and service was great
WE enjoy Alex's Washington Gardens every time we visit. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is charming. The wait staff is kind and gracious. The best Italian food in Highwood! We love the Washington Gardens!!!
Our favorite restaurant, outstanding service and
As always this Is the best place for a nice low-key meal. Phenomenal food, calm and delicious.
Solid old-school Italian. Good salad and minestrone, great thin crust pizza. Supper club atmosphere. Recommended for children & adults.
Wonderful experience...... Place always make existing customers appreciated and new customers welcome. I love listening to the servers greet customers and it seems to be consistently warm and friendly. Runners and bus are the same. Love seeing long time staffers! Started with the shrimp de jonghe appetizer which was very good and recommended. In the mood for pizza and it still wins as my favorite on the North Shore.
Everything great but the non pasta food, both eggplant and spaghetti were great, the pear and blue cheese salad was rough as well as the caprese salad - pears were hard, blue cheese was weak, tomato’s had zero flavor, Washington Gardens is a pasta machine, but skip the sides.
It's always great here without exception. A sure thing every time.
Food was excellent... We had Ravioli and Veal Limone (with added capers). Service was sporadic. We felt ignored but server was friendly (if not informative). Tables are too close together, so that conversations at nearby tables become intermingled.
I've been eating at Scornavacco's restaurants since the old days in the original location up north... and I'll keep coming back for the great food and good, honestly poured cocktails.
Fabulous, as always. Only negative, Beth doesn't work on Monday evenings!
Have been going there for years Great local place for Italian food
We are always very well taken care of at Alex’s Washington Gardens. Good food. Great ambience. We like it there.
As always food does not disappoint! Brought friend for first time, they loved the pizza!
I don't have to because all of my friends already go there and have for years!!!!!!!
Everything was delicious!!!!
