For Chicago, we found that the food and service were below expectations. The food was below average especially for the price.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are saddened to hear your visit was not as expected. We strive to only present our guests with the highest quality cuisine and Four Seasons service. We would be thrilled to invite you back and let you experience Allium as we intend to present it. Warmest Regards, Sindi Stoeva Allium Manager in Training
Amazing and will definitely return
Fabulous. Service slow
Shockingly disappointing food. Fish of the day was dry. Potatoes were flavorless, as were the heirloom tomatoes. For Chicago, and the Four Seasons, this was a total miss. I apologized to my wife for not making a more informed restaurant choice.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I sincerely apologize your dining experience with us was not as desired. We strive to present our guests with quality and taste in every dish and are saddened to hear your experience was not as such. We would be delighted to invite you to dine with us once again and give us the opportunity to present you with nothing short of the high Four Seasons standards we uphold Allium to.
Loved all the waitstaff, especially Sarah!
This charming spot continues to deliver superior food and service. Some new additions to the menu are truly delicious. Servers are personable and attentive. Quite a deep wine list. Don't let the "in hotel" location dissuade you, this is as excellent (if not more so) than any top drawer independent restaurant.
Hotels struggle with offering dining options... Do they subcontract or open their own fine dining restaurant, knowing that a large percentage of their guests just want a quick lunch or breakfast, regardless of the chef in residence? It's a tough choice, and offering both options can be a pricey mistake. But Four Seasons Chicago decided to take the middle ground. Yes, they offer the business traveler that quick breakfast, or lunch. But they also offer an attractive dinner menu in the same dining space, which to be very attractive. And importantly -- maybe most importantly, -- the food is excellent. As good as any restaurant in town, and that's saying a lot. And the menu is creative, and the service professional and welcoming. Don't feel like visiting a fancy five star restaurant? Stay in and dine at Allium. You'll love it, and you won't be compromising a thing...
Nice server but very poor service. Dark, somber room. Food was inconsistent. Some good, some bad, some overcooked. Presentation was thoughtless.
I usually go to Allium for business purposes like twice per month max, and it's all the time a good and pleasant moment in such beautiful place (for people like me who loves this style). Yesterday, it was not. Time to get staff to take our order was a joke, staff behavior was more than friendly (the way to put glasses on the table, the way to put the arm on the chair were telling me that i was in a cantina -don't get me wrong i like cantina sometimes). More than 30 min to get our starters, that was just too much and exaggerated. Entrées wait time was ok following my statement to the staff.
Saturday was full of tourists dressed and behaving in a way i haven't seen that from a long time: you should separate such customers from regular ones (that's my opinion). Fortunately for us, they left while our entrées came, it was then quiet. About lunch, it was good, don't change anything on that!
Last, knowing it was my wife's birthday, an happy b-day plate was brought to her with a piece of chocolate cake and seasonable fruits, just thank you for this!
To sum-up, a brunch or lunch at Allium on Saturday in July is not an experience that i will recommend. I don't need to be contacted, please do not publish this note.
Great sunny breakfast spot. Excellent serviee and food, but very expensive -- there are local Miracle Mile spots which are half the price.
Very enjoyable dining experience. Beautiful surroundings.
We went to Sunday brunch here, which is $38pp. That's not a lot for a buffet Sunday brunch, but you don't get a lot either. Yes, it's all-you-can-eat, but the choices are limited and the food is not special. There is a small selection of charcuterie meats/salmon and cheeses, a few (3-4?) selections in the heated serving platters - one pasta dish, one meat dish, one fish dish (which was shrimp) - and a couple selections of rolls/breads. There were pre-made pancakes and pre-made french toast in trays that were utterly bland. There were three miniature dessert selections: a dull creme brûlée, a flavorless chocolate/strawberry cheesecake and one other I have already forgotten. There was an omelette station and a bacon tray. Other than tiny bowls of (1) strawberries and (2) blueberries, I think - intended to sprinkle on top of pancakes or french toast as they were placed next to these trays - there was no yogurt/granola/fruit station on offer.
Everything tasted "institutional" and nothing was special. Annoyingly, gratuity was added to the bill which we didn't notice, so we ended up tipping twice upon reflection. Grrrr.
Amazing food and outstanding service!
Stacy and servers were great, gracious and attentive! Food very good. Thank you!
The food was delicious. The restaurant is very relaxing. We love it
Always a delightful and classy place That has the right touch of casual. We’ve had high tea in the winter but this was a summer lunch. Nice meal and wine selection. And we relaxed so long, we decided to have dessert! Everything was delicious. And our waiter was nice, attentive, and patient. Will definitely continue to return.
Always enjoy eating at Allium. The food is always excellent, and the room is always quiet enough to hold a conversation.
with their past chef it was wonderful
Now there has been a change-- the chicken dish very so-so
used to be delicious
My wife's fish was delicious
waitress the best
Don't get a window table. Nothing good to look at. I would frost the bottom part of the window (maybe 24"). Also, I wish they had table clothes for dinner or a different table surface. It felt cold and just not inviting. Reusing tomatoes and beets prepared the same way in my apetizers and entree was disapointing. I like the other part of the restaurant. Nice atmosphere and furnishings, however some sofas need cleaning.
Excellent food and attentive service. Beautiful indoor decor, but for views of the city, choose another locale - these windows are large but look upon other tall buildings.
Good food in a beautiful dining room with fantastic city views. My only complaint is the menu is limited.
The price of the Sunday Brunch buffet was listed on the website as $38 per person. When I made the reservation for Father’s Day, it did not indicate that the price was $65 per person. That is almost twice as much. Yes, it was upgraded but it would have been appreciated to have known that before the bill came. Also, at that price, most brunches include a drink, such as a Bloody Mary or Mimosa, in the price.
Great quiet place but half our food was cold, the other half was spot on. I’ll split the stars. Very few dark wooded places left so don’t want to trash the tradition I like. Cappuccino cold, guests didn’t tell me till we left. Unfortunate because stay at Four Seasons was good.
Awesome. The food was incredible, the wait staff was even better than the food. We went there for our 40th anniversary, they made it very special. The lavosh is a must
We wanted a great place to eat with a relaxed non commercial environment. We had a wonderful experience and will be returning again.
Good food . Good service . Lovely setting . Nice portions . Attentive staff .
Delicious with impeccable service but extremely expensive.
It was very bad.
Being a five star hotel, it should be better. Need a Michelin star chef. Great ambiance though.
We were not sure who our waiter was since different people came and went. Not offered a second drink. Had to ask for coffee. Not told where buffet was or if we should start our meal. No bagels with lox. Small selection of food, only inexpensive options. Had to flag someone down so we could get check. Brunch buffet lacked traditional carving station. No seafood selections. Only 4 dessert offerings. We were very disappointed and embarrassed that the guest we were hosting was brought here.
The food was very good. I don't know if this was the most I have spent on a meal but it was probably close to it if not the most. I suspect that was due mostly to the location.
It was our anniversary and had a wonderful experience! Cocktails were good. The waiter was awesome and brought a special vegan menu for my wife. She loved her meal...the truffle fries were AMAZING! I had the filet mignon with fried cauliflower...delicious. Great service...great ambience...wonderful for a special occasion!
The Brunch Buffet was affordable but still not worth it-particularly if you don't like eggs or salmon. The advertised Applewood Smoked Bacon was nowhere to be found. Feels like because we ordered the buffet the server didn't feel the need to pay any attention to us. It was not what you would expect at the Four Seasons.
Change in Cobb Salad presentation was disappointing!
Service was very good!
Very nice, and classic! Good value, great environment!
Very attentive staff and great dry martinis, but the food choice for a brunch was quite limited. Having said that, it was delicious.
We visited Allium right after Valentine's Day, so it was really quiet. We enjoyed everything. Some highlights: Sarah, our server was outstanding-funny, witty, and knowledgeable about the menu. Tuna Tacos were interesting, Pappadelle was really tasty, as were the Waygu sliders. Simple, but very tasty. One highlight was ordering the Davis Bynum Pinot Noir, 2015. Very smooth and something you could drink all night long. A little pricey at $18. per glass. All the servers were polite and very willing to make sure we were happy. Finally, do try the Lavash--a sorta warm homemade cracker flatbread. It's something playful and yet addicting. We love forward to our next visit. Thank you, Sarah, for a wonderful evening.
Great breakfast & amazing service. Thank you Stacy
Sarah & Chef Jose was spectacular make the evening very memorable... and the lovely hostess Kim. Gray staff & awesome food. TJ thanks as well
