The mussels that came from British Columbia in a white broth was delicious. The salad with vinaigrette was extremely fresh and light with sweet tiny grapes. It all tasted very farm to table. The feel of the place is modern industrial and has a interesting set up. I enjoyed my pre concert meal.
We’ve been to Bar Agricole before and had a delightful time. It was my birthday and I thought it’d be fun again. As before, the cocktails were great and the bar and wait staff fantastic and friendly. The food selection seems fairly limited now and not good if you’re a vegetarian (one of us is). The slow cooked trout was too underdone and when we noted it to the wait staff they remarked that it was done though still looking quite rare because it was slow cooked. But really it was too glassy and inedible. If we go back, it’ll be for drinks and light bites at the bar only now.
Very overpriced for portion size.
Wonderful cocktails, beautifully remodeled space, honest seasonal food. Pricey but worthwhile - would definitely recommend to friends, even larger groups.
Delicious drinks and dinner - everything was wonderful! My husband and I shared some small plates and both enjoyed wonderful drinks from the bar. Great date night!
Bar Agricole never disappoints! It’s one our favorite SF restaurants. The food is always delicious. The outdoor dining area is lovely. And the staff is excellent!
We were guests of NWS and also on our wedding anniversary. Every dish and drink was amazing and we had a really wonderful time taking our time enjoying the atmosphere.
It was late afternoon Friday. Happy hour. They had some special deals on oysters and select wines. I didn’t have those. We had a glass of wine at the bar. Nice selection. Helpful friendly bartender. All the staff people were super nice. We moved over to dining and had charcuterie and a stuffed endive appetizer. Both were excellent. The breads and meats and everything down to mustard and jam and olives were exceptional. We had different wines by suggestion from the waitress. All were very good and in the $15-$20 a glass range. The place was getting more full and somewhat noisy but in a fun way. It was very relaxed. Really attentive service. Several glasses of wine and an hour and a half or so and about $200 including tip we sauntered out. I’d go again for certain. Maybe try the happy hour offerings to reduce the cost a little.
Birthday Dinner for my partner. Our waiter and staff were attentive, friendly, and helpful. The food and drinks did not fail to impress. Thank you for a memorable experience.
The service was awful. We waited for 1h for our entree and it never came, they behaved as we had already eaten it, so a waiter Reggie approached us asking if we would like anything else, but we hadn’t had any food, then said that the kitchen was busy, even though all the guest had practically left. Eventually we were served main course and then the entree. Really sad. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. They didn’t even dare to offer a free desert.
Love the menu simplicity. Great ingredients prepared expertly. Could become a go-to standard.
I’m amazed this restaurant is still open. They only had 2 main entrees on the menu: chicken and trout. We got a plate of awful salami for $37 and a plate of inedible cheese for another $12. They only have one of each brand of alcohol (one vodka, one gin, etc.). They don’t serve any sodas nor do they have any artificial sweeteners for your coffee because “it goes against their principles” - we got a pedantic lecture from the waiter. One of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. Don’t eat here.
Food was good but the waiter was slow and arrogant.
The gentleman that called to confirm my special request was very helpful and was able to get me exactly what i requested. I appreciated the extra level of care.
The food menu is rather light with options, only one chicken and one pescatarian dish for proteins, and not much else to choose from. What we did order was quite delicious. Minus the champagne, value was OK at $80/ea (tip included). The drink menu was rather impressive so maybe it’s a better spot to go for cocktails than a fancy dinner.
The service was fine and the atmosphere was good. Overall it was a reasonable experience, but not one I would repeat more than once every year or two. It’s worth going to at least once - maybe it will be your favorite new place!
I’d like to give Bar Agricole a second chance. I was a bit underwhelmed by our experience.
Flexible when we changed the time of our reservation on short notice.
Bar service and food were excellent!
The team at Bar Agricole made our special occasion truly delightful. It was a little difficult to figure out how much food to order for a large group, but our servers were excellent and adaptable.
Really wonderful experience at Bar Agricole with my party of 8! The food was wholesome and delicious. The drinks were perfectly crafted and unique. Couldn't recommend more highly, but then again, what do you expect from a two-time James Beard award-winner!
We have a work party and were scheduled to sit outside, but were moved inside last min as the space was rented out. IT was great food, service was nice and not too noisy. Expensive but would definitely go again!
Food was really fresh as they claim to be serving farm to table. Very easy to get reservation on a week day. Good food and drinks
Was seated in between 2 tables, about a foot apart. Awkward to say the least - had to work very hard not to eavesdrop on either party’s conversation.
Bar Agricole has a great atmosphere which combines rustic and modern elements; it won a national design award. Our drinks were outstanding. We shared small plates and a dessert. The smoked salmon fritters and sauce were excellent. The platter of house-made charcuterie featured flavorsome and interesting selections with stoneground and raspberry (house-made) mustards, a large raw carrot and two slices of thick seeded bread. A few crackers would have been welcome, and the carrot would have been more inviting had it been at least halved vertically or gently pickled with perhaps a little Pernod. The romaine salad was nicely presented but even for me, who prefers an acidic dressing, there was too much vinegar. A trifle with apriums and nectarines with lemon verbena was delcious.
The staff were attentive and friendly without being over-bearing. We enjoyed some excellent cocktails, especially the "El Presidente". One of our party is a beer drinker and while the beer available was very good the selection was sparse. The food was flavourful and interesting and the family style service made it easy to order an appropriate amount for how hungry everyone was. This wasn't my first visit and it won't be my last.
I hadn’t been to the restaurant in a while. It’s still a beautiful venue. The acoustics, however, are a challenge. Music should be turned down. The gem lettuce salad was outstanding, and the chicken and poached egg with grits were delicious. Having only two main dishes is a serious drawback and disappointment. The kitchen is talented enough to add at least two more choices. As great as the charcuterie and cheese array looked, it’s no substitute for a main dish of meat and pasta, as examples. I would definitely warn anyone to whom I would recommend Bar Agricola about the menu limitations.
The cocktails were phenomenal; food was good, but very pricey for what it was.
The food and drinks were excellent. Will definitely come back.
Looking for last minute reservations for 6 on Memorial Day, we ended up at Bar Agricole. Our waiter was just a tad too earnest, but otherwise really good. After hearing they had recently won (a James Beard Foundation?) national award for their cocktail program, we ordered a few great cocktails. Our dinner was carefully prepared and proudly served. The tamale was delicious as was the stewed mole beef. The portions were somewhat small, especially the $38 salumi board and the four cured anchovies for $12. The price point was just a too bit above my comfort level.
Beautiful physical space. We will be back for a cocktail again.
Tom at the front desk was a sweetheart and accommodated our ask to sit outside. Our server (blanking on name- gentleman on a Thurs night) was outstanding in terms of knowledge, service, and fun vibe. My team loved the night and the resto let us stay outside WELL past closing. Definitely will be a repeat for us! Perfect!
Excellent cocktails. Food very good, though aside from the 3 mains the portions are a bit small. The whole cod was phenomenal.
I absolutely loved the ambiance at Bar Agricole! It was quiet, sleek, modern and yet had a welcoming warmth to it. The service was spectacular and it seemed the entire service staff was taking care of us. It is so intimate and special. I cannot wait to go back again and take some more friends! Also, congrats on winning the James Beard Award, you all definitely deserve it!
We had an absolute wonderful time! The service staff were very attentive and very friendly! We will be back!
Interesting flavors, a varied but brief menu on Friday evening, service good when you get their attention (which isn't often enough), but menu is pricey - e.g., $5/oyster and $66 whole cod.
Fabulous...loved it! We were a group of six and food was wonderful, servers were attentive and accommodating, and the space is beautiful!
Food was very salty, waitress provided good service. Expected food to be favorable, not salty.
Although it was noisy because of a large party going on, our waitperson was kind enough to reseat us. The lower dining room was quieter and we had a great time and a fantastic meal!
Second time here and we decided to sit outside. Even though it was a bit chilly, the above table heater provided plenty of warmth. Service was attentive and the cocktails and food outstanding.
Really terrible food. Never been so underwhelmed by a restaurant. No wonder why it was empty on a Friday night.
Wonderful atmosphere with chill music on the well-heated patio. Really enjoyed the food and personal touches of the chef visiting the table and an attentive server.
Not great for sharing
Food .... unremarkable
Design .... very cool
Drinks - great
Bar Agricole is a beautiful restaurant with delicious food, but the menu needs some work. It is divided into 3 sections--small, medium, and large plates. Small plates range from $10-15, medium from $13-21, and large from $40-80. We ordered a large brazilian sausage and beans dish for $75 and it arrived in a bowl large enough to feed 2 people. I'm still shocked that this dish would be this price, especially a "large" one at that. The food prices are simply not a good price for the quantity. The food was delicious, but a plate of sausage and beans is simply never worth $75.
I think the ideal way to enjoy Bar Agricole is to sit at the bar and order a cocktail, with some sides to munch on. That would be much better value for the money.
