Benihana - Dulles
Overall fun experience, especially for kids.
The food is great and our chef Jonathon was amazing. However, the table service wasn’t great and the meals are way too expensive for what you get.
This was not the experience I was looking for. The food was good, however, the portions were not good at all for the price we paid. Our waiter was horrible. He got some of our order wrong and was simply not we expected for this restaurant. Will probably not be going back to this location. We have visited other Benihana restaurants and had far better experiences.
Everything was great! It was crazy because of mother’s day but the staff did a great job and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful!
Outstanding food. Fun atmosphere. Good service. We love going to Benihana!
Everything was excellent. From the food, the staff.. EVERYTHING. We'll definitely be back again when we're in town
Celebrated our Daughters Birthday. Waiter forgot to help celebrate by singing or whatever they do there. Service was so-so for how expensive the meals cost.
I have been to this Benihana many times. The food is always delicious. We have always had great service EXCEPT THIS TIME! This is no way is about the chef that cooked our food; just about the server that takes your order. Upon sitting down at our table with another family, immediately when he started talking something was off. He took our drink order and appetizer order. About 8 mins later he came back again to take our drink order again; he took the order and about 5 mins later he came back again to "verify our drink order" and to get our appetizer order again. I have never complained to management before this evening. He seemed really disoriented/impaired. I spoke with the manager about not only our concerns but the other family sitting with us. About 5 mins after that, he brought us our drinks however, he had all of the orders wrong and put the kids drinks in normal cups. At this point the floor manager was now watching him; he didn't give us straws, he spilled a drink on the grill, and his apron fell of and he picked it up off the floor and put it back on. The floor manager came over and gave all the kids children cups. Roughly 5 mins after that the appetizers came out again, which was the incorrect order. After the floor manager saw this, she came to double check our entree orders because she was not confident about the situation. Thank goodness she double checked because what he wrote down was wrong. He then came back and I had asked for straws, he put about 10 in front of me and asked if that was enough, as if I was bothering him. Once the chef came out to cook she verified our orders, The food that was put on the prep try was not correct, so I told her the orders once more. I was standing to take my daughter to the bathroom, and then the server came up to me and asked me was the problem was with the orders in a very abrasive manner. I told him to talk to the chef. After that the floor manager basically took over.
We arrived on time for our reservation but was told we would have to wait as the kitchen was backed up. When we finally got seated it was at least 10 minutes before someone acknowledged us and a manager said someone would be over to get our drink order. She said they underestimated the amount of reservations and did not have enough staff working.
The cook has to remake one of the meals as the shrimp was to be cooked without butter and he forgot so he head to remake the meal and it was redone at the end when everyone else was eating. The bowls of white rice came out at least 10 minutes before food was cooking on the hibachi.
The bill double charged for sushi but we caught that and had to wait for a new check.
From our reservation time until we were done it was 2 hours, way too long and not one apology or an attempt to fix the problem. Our foreign exchange student wanted to experience the hibachi style restaurant for her birthday and unfortunately is was not the best experience.
How dissapointing. We had 7:00 reservations and were not seated until 7:15, not normally a big deal but we had a handicapped person in our party. We waited 10 minutes before anyone came to get our drink orders and another 15 before the drinks came. Our chef didn’t arrive to our table until 8:00 and by that time, no one had come to check in with us to offer more drinks. You’d think for $11/drink someone would be there to offer them more often, especially after waiting an hour for the chef to even start cooking.
We had a young chef who was excellent, fast and paid attention to both cooking the food properly and people around the table. Some chefs are more interesting and entertaining than others and this one was quite good. One gripe: we ordered the filet and they cut it on the grill, then give it to you on the plate to eat with chopsticks or a fork as you see fit. Unfortunately, my wife, daughter and I each got the same thing and each peice of meat had some obvious chunks of fat or grissle on it. As a result, we each left a couple peices of meat on the plate. Benihana's either needs to provide a knife for the patrons or the chef needs to pay attention to these and cut out and disgard the fat and grissle to avoid wasting part of the food unnecessarily.
We go to Benihana's 6-8 times a year and enjoy the food, but would like to see them address this issue.
went for my Birthday, food was delicious as always.
Even with our Open Table reservation, it took 20 minutes to be seated and another 25 minutes for a “chef” to come and start cooking the food. Once she was there l, the interaction and the food were good. Don’t know if it was just an off night, but it does make me think twice about going back anytime soon.
Waited an hour for someone to cook for us. Not a word from any manager. Place was pretty dirty.
We had a party of 5. One Filet, one chicken and shrimp, one NY strip, one Salmon, and one Land and Sea. We had one club soda, two California rolls, one glass of house red and house white. $260. That's $50 per entree and a $50 tip for $310. You can get all you can eat at Brazilian BBQ or a primer cut of steak or nice seafood for that price. The entertainment factor is not as appealing to me anymore as was what we paid. Might have been the last time we go.
Yes, we had a great time! The store was clean and well taken care of. All of the staff were attentive and friendly. The Chef was friendly, neat and clean.
Been here twice in the past month and both times were excellent. The food is outstanding!!
We came in and waited almost 15 mins at the hostess stand before being sat. Then it took another 20 mins before a waiter who took our order came. It was another 15 mins to get drinks. Our chef did almost nothing for show and was very boring. We told them we were celebrating 4 kids birthdays and nothing was done or said. It was an awful dinner
Great production and services, as always! Food is always presented well!
The service was OK. There was not that much food. They used one zucchini for the whole table. I received a very thin layer. Not a good experience this time
My husband and I did a date night at Benihana. Our table mates were wonderful. The food was good. This was our first time dining at Benihana. Our experience was great we will go back. The room was loud, but there were 4 or 5 Birthday celebrations happening. It seems to lend well for celebratory occasions with large parties... so cool.
We had an amazing time!!!
I was hosting an event with my two daughters and 3 of their friends so 6 of us in total and this was perhaps the worst dining experience I have ever had. The restaurant is disorderly and poorly managed. We had a 7:15 reservation but cooking didn’t begin until 8:45! I am a beast cancer survivor and only finished treatments a month ago - I almost fell asleep waiting for dinner to begin. Benihana needs to show immediate improvement or they will be a distant memory. I would have a hard time convincing myself to ever return to this location.
Mediocre table chefs. Poor and slow table service. I couldn’t recommend this place.
The reason we spend the extra money to go to Beni Hana’s is for the experience. The person cooking our food hardly spoke and was very uninterested. The experience was less than mediocre
Good place, close to airport. I had a good meal before the night flight.
Food was good, chef entertaining. The birthday certificate you receive for joining the Chefs Table is bogus. Yes corporate will email a certificate BUT it will not have the required bar code. The restaurant will not accept the certificate without the bar code. The certificate even states not valid without the bar code. Don’t waste your time. This is twice they sent a certificate without the bar code.
Wait staff had language related communication issues. As a result we experienced several mis-handled drink and meal orders. It was my wife birthday (stated this when we arrived and was on the reservation request) yet the server did not even think to offer us desert or any birthday acknowledgement. The second time we've been to this location and the last. So atypical of other Benihana experiences.
I was celebrating my promotion with my family! Great service! I just wish the chef did more tricks and was more personable.
The only problem noted was our table chef need to speak up louder.
Unsatisfactory service. Unlikely to visit this local again.
This location is slow and unorganized. A couple at my table left because they were taking so long to get us started when we all had 7pm reservations. We didn’t get water and soup until like 7:40pm
The food was overdone. So my recommendation is based on the fact that this has never happened before, so the cook was obviously new.
Even though we had a reservation, you wait 40-60 minutes for table and another 30-40 minutes before you get food.
I reserved the table and waiting more then 30 minutes for drinks and hour for hibachi. And non of the managers walk up and talk to us. Served wrong food twice, food was alright but too much butter. First time visit this place and never again.
Calculation of final bill took a while! Also, Benihana is very expensive. Very good food, but I feel the prices surpass any possible quality range.
Interior was worn down and there was trash on the floor in the atrium and dining areas. Once seated, wait times for drinks and food courses were excessive. Hibachi chef phoned in the service and food did not meet the doneness requests. We were sincerely disappointed.
Overall, not very impressed. I thought going to Benihana would be much better than a local Japanese steakhouse since they are nationally known but, it was kinda the same experience. I live about 25 miles away so, not worth the drive.
They nickel and dime you for everything. The menu says your dinner comes with fried rice but they slide in “do you want chicken fried rice “ and don’t tell you it’s extra. We were charged 4.20 extra per person (7 people) and 1 chicken breast was added. Do the math. Chef and waiter were great but it’s way overpriced for what you get. My scallops and shrimp were over cooked and dry
From the get-go our dinner was doomed. Once sat, the grill malfunctioned. We ordered an appetizer and it didn’t come until after the soup and salad. It took 15 min to get a cocktail. And lastly they got my order wrong and decided it was a good idea to argue with me and each other about it, instead of just fixing it and getting the corrected order out swiftly. This is my go-to place for my birthday every year and this year it was ruined.
