Benihana - Wheeling
We enjoyed it very much !
My son graduated from Navy Boot Camp that day and wanted Hibachi!
Birthday of grandson
Took so long before I could eat my stomach went to the restaurant next door! :(
Omar was incredible! Request him as your chef! Absolutely exceptional customer service and his engagement with our family was so much fun. Wait time minimal - even with a reservation, but worth it. It was my fiance's birthday, so many birthdays there... we would absolutely go back. I can't say how impressed we all were with Omar's talent. Please recognize him during the next company meeting. We were the table from 6 pm with our 11-year-old daughter who is also Mexican ... our conversations in both English and Spanish made the night so much fun.
Bathrooms were dirtier than an average gas station bathroom
Food was not flavored as usual and bland
Waitress only came around once for drink refills
Parking lot lights not working
Waiting 15 minutes past reservation time to be seated at nearly empty dinning room
We waited for an hour and a half after having a reservation
Made reservation for a birthday celebration. Upon arrival, hostess who was not cordial stated to let them know once complete party arrived. While we waited a couple who looked like they just finished working out arrived as walkins with their screaming toddler. Upon arrival of my party I learned that we would be seated with the walkins. I requested another table which they stated we would have to wait. Defeats the whole purpose of a reservation. Thank god for Bob Chinns.
Seated promptly after friendly greeting. Had 1 other 3 person group at table. Drinks and appetizer ordered and served in good time. Order given and allergies noted by waiter and again by chef when he came. Seafood Trio and Splash/Meadow ordered. Fun watching Chef do his thing with onion train and shrimp tails throw. Food made as ordered and very tasty. Was National Rice day and everyone got free Hibachi chicken Fried rice. Mine made without egg due to allergy and was delicious. usually have white rice but this was great. Will be back again for Birthday celebration in upcoming month. Family friendly and kids of all ages will love place.
We have dined at several Benihana locations, including Schaumburg, Illinois (multiple times) and San Diego California. All of our experiences have been wonderful and delicious. However, the Wheeling location was a major disappointment. The server took our order, but the chef did not confirm it and he got both of our orders wrong. We had to ask the chef to fix the order three times. We had requested no mushrooms on the teriyaki; he added mushrooms. We had ordered a large fried rice (to go) along with the two that we ordered with our meals; he never made it so we had to wait til after our meal was over and then the server brought it. Also, the chef put on a very lackluster show. He barely did any of the wonderful skills we have seen every other time we've gone to a Benihana. The food was also under-seasoned. I took my friend for her birthday and had to end up apologizing for how the meal went.
Wonderful, so much fun!! The kids always love the onion volcano!
The food is very tasty they should change the concept just a Lil keep it exciting
Really great experience and food
Food was bland, the cook must have been new.
Great atmosphere and great food!
Great food, excellent environment and outstanding customer service.
Great food good service
Went for a ladies' night out. We sat at a table so that we could talk. The food was good and the service was friendly and fast.
Benihana is Benihana... You know what you are getting. The food is good, a little bit pricey, but you get the show. In general service has fallen off a bit. The waiter is good, but he has to work too many tables to give the you the proper attention that a restaurant at this price point deserves.
Lots of Birthdays... And with the Birthday $30 discount, makes it worth going. But $6 extra to go from white rice to fried rice, is a rip off. $40 for steak and shrimp, fried rice should be included, or maybe $2 more, but $6 is ridiculous.
We'll keep going back once a year, but probably not too much more...
We arrived promptly for our 6pm reservation but another party (exact same size) that came after us was seated before us. We waited 45 minutes before the chef came to our table to cook. Soda was refilled with water and food was not as good as we are used to at Benihana. We will probably go to Tsukasa the next time we go out for Hibachi
Most enjoyable dinner experience with a little table side show by the chef. Highly recommend
The server, chef, and food were all exceptional, but the women working at the front desk who seat guests were horribly unfriendly - they gave us a negative first impression of the restaurant because if their complete lack of friendliness when seating us. This is inexcusable! Train them properly or replace them!
Everything was fine but waiter could have been a little more friendly and attentive
Always have an enjoyable evening when we dine at Benihanas. Food is delicious, service excellent, and the chef is always entertaining. Will be back to visit again and again.
My sons 11th Birthday ! We had an amazing time ! Great food and great service !
Food was great! Service was not up to par. The gentleman who served our table kept disappearing and we had to get up and ask for things during the meal and then for the check.
Also you go for the show, and the chef was not very entertaining IMO.
The waiter was really slow with service. She took forever to take our orders, bring our the appetizers and to refill our drinks.
Me & My Girlfriend Had A Very Nice Time There Together We Both Loved It And Our Server As Well We Will Be Back Again . Thank You For Making Our Anniversary Special
We had a great experience up until it was time to pay. We tipped our chef and waiters separately who served us, all in cash. When the bill came I didn’t add a tip because we had already done so. I signed our check and we were off. A waiter, who we haven’t seen at all during our dinner, came to stop our family saying we never tipped. First of all, tip is NOT mandatory, so you should never ask. That was extremely rude. Second, we tipped everyone who served us very generously. But the employee’s reasoning was that they all share a tip. This maddened me so much, but my kids were with me I didn’t want to cause a scene. I ended up tipping this waiter.. when we never saw him while eating. Train your employees better.
I booked this table thru Open Table and did not receive my points.
It was quite a bit noisy , we had the table behind us that was a bit too loud but beside that it was wonderful!!
Eight of us went out for dinner at Benihana. Among the group we ordered salmon, chicken, filet mignon, colossal shrimp, and teriyaki steak. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
Excellent food and love the way chief prepares the food
Amazing Chef Omar! but not very welcoming front desk and waitress. Food was great!
Out of town guests
Disappointing visit. Chef cooked the food, but did not do the usual "entertaining ". The server was not acceptable. Two items we ordered were never brought to the table. We ordered a drink and she tried to tell us that we really wanted the hurricane instead, which we did not. Just an overall annoying experience.
We were sat at a table with 4 kids whose parents sat at another table. Wait staff slow and shared that the kitchen was in chaos because of a guests request for rare/blue meat. Not sure why she had to share this. Hard to get refills on beverages. I poured my own water from the station. The chef did a nice job of interacting with the table. The exhaust fans need to be stronger.
Food and showmanship were terrific. We were surprised to find a charge for fried rice on the bill- we were asked if we wanted steamed or fried rice, but there was no mention of a fee
Great food, excellent customer service and the prices are affordable. Convenient location and great atmosphere
