The beef tartare was amazing. Overall, the food tasted great.
The washrooms were clean but the toilet was very low with a very high level of water - a bit uncomfortable when using it.
Elegant restaurant, friendly staff, fish is always fresh (if it isn't they won't serve it). Not too loud for a busy lunch spot.
The food was stellar. Fresh fish, top quality sushi rice, great sake. No complaints. Attentive service. Since we were here for dinner on a weekend, it was quiet too. Given the location, I expect it to be a lot busier on weekdays. It is definitely on the pricier side but I was happy with the food, service and ambience.
Pretty bad experience
Server was not kind, food is overpriced and not a good quality at all. Totally waste of money..
The food is delicious and well prepared but it is a bit pricey.
Excellent spot for Business luncheon. Quick and knowledgeable service.
Great food but a little pricey.
Katana is a nice sophisticated place for a business luncheon. The food is shareable, tapas style and tastes great. The servers are very professional and helped us make some lunch suggestions too.
Food is always excellent!
Food was amazing it was a little noisy but ok over all. Drinks were good too and service was great!
Average sushi. A bit overpriced considering it was not very interesting or impressive. But it’s probably because of the location. I was disappointed.
Quiet on the weekend. Nice ambience and good food. Pricey.
Excellent service, delicious food and great atmosphere!
Terrible experience, owner was smoking in the restaurant
Food and service were really good. But be warned, parking is not included as advertised on Open Tables reservation.
Too bright. Music level set so low you could barely hear it. Server was friendly but forgetful and inattentive. Restaurant ran out of salmon! What?! Food was below average but reasonably priced.
Always a great place for a business lunch.
Great food - highly recommend.
Always tasty !
I went to Katana for a business meeting in terms of the value for the food it was ok not great. But a good place to have a business meeting as you can conduct a conversation and the ambience is nice.
Excellent food. Perfect ambience for a date (on the weekend)
The food is not a patch on BlowFish’s offerings. Nevertheless, we derived enjoyment from the decor and the service.
I live a block away from Katana, so I've been here a few times. This review will be based on my combined visits. Katana is located in the center of Toronto's financial district, so if you are dining here on a weekend, you can expect the place to be relatively quiet. Given their location, they generally get busy during the week after business hours. Coincidentally, I've only been to Katana on weekends, so that may be influencing my lower score for the ambiance. The restaurant interior is modern and neat. The food more than makes up for the ambiance. Everything I've had at Katana has been excellent. From the maki section, I highly recommend the spicy tuna on crispy sushi rice. From the meat section, I really like the spicy crispy beef. The quality of ingredients used in all of the nigiri/maki items that I've tried is excellent. In conclusion, I highly recommend this spot. Consider dining here on a week night rather than a weekend if you prefer a more lively environment.
Slowest services I've ever received at a Sushi restaurant. Prices are outlandish compared to what you can get at other places downtown TO. If you're looking here keep looking elsewhere.
Head and shoulders above Ki for food, but ambience not as lively.
great place, great food, great staff what else does one need
Food great, service was meh
I used opentable dining cheque here and waitress said “make sure you tip on the full amount not the deducted amount”. did so and they didn’t say thank you. food is just okay for the price.
The food and service at Katana is always outstanding!
Was fairly noisy outside - really good meal though!
Came for summerlicious. Really enjoyed the jalapeño appetizer but the portions for the mains were alright. Satisfactory experience overall
Attended Summerlicious lunch - food was superb. Was very noisy, though.
Food was as good as previous visits, but our server was rude, forgot items, spilled water on one of our phones and not pleasant or helpful. Have had better service here before, but probably won’t be coming back after today. Can find better Japanese food with proper service elsewhere.
The server acted like she knew it all, but said vegetarians eat meat. I didn't like her attitude. The udon was very sour, tasted like lime only. The garden salad was great, and so was the cheesecake. I loved the decor and ambiance. It's not worth it if you're vegetarian though.
Delicious food with amazing service.
Good Summerlicious lunch experience. While nothing really wowed us, the food was tasty and the service was good. The chicken karaage was better than expected, and while everything else was good, I remembered the sake cheesecake being much better during a previous visit (seemed like they toned down on the amount of sake used). Looking forward to their next Winterlicious menu.
The food was very mediocre and overpriced. We arrived at the table first but out neighbours got their food earlier.
Really great summerlicious menu! Good menu, service and nice (but small) patio.
Came here for Summerlicious. Food was ok, have had better Japanese food. Miso cod was not strong with miso. Assorted tempura was good- nice batter. Sake cheesecake- strong sake flavour and smooth
Excellent Nigiri. Very friendly staff!
