I loved the ambiance of the restaurant- perfect date spot!
Always a highly satisfying experience at the Blue Spoon. Every time we’ve eaten here, everything is w
Great spot. Fantastic food. Great wait staff. Loved it.
Blue Spoon has very good food but for some people, it may be too eclectic. What we had, cod and rabbit was excellent. The dessert menu was limited and seemed to be limited to a custardy or flan dishes. We opted not to have dessert. Service was excellent.
Fantastic. Blue Spoon has never disappointed us, a great night out for drinks and a superb dinner.
Blue Spoon was the perfect place to celebrate Valentine's Day: a warm, inviting atmosphere; a stunningly delicious dinner; and outstanding service. Sincere thanks to all the folks at Blue Spoon!
We both had the carrot soup and the Statler chicken which turned out to be an excellent choices. We have been to this restaurant many times before and this was perhaps our best experience. Our waiter whom seem to recognize us from prior visits deserved high praise as he knew our cocktail preferences as we were seated and explained the specials and was friendly and efficient.
Great meal and very good service.
I have been to this restaurant several times and the food is reliably good.
The service was paced well so that we could get to Good Theater on time. Service was also pleasant. The restaurant atmosphere was pleasant & comfortable. The simple salad was crisp, lightly dressed, delicious. Main course of cod, white beans & kale cooked well but aa bit too salty. Chicken main was also too salty. Desserts were top notch—panna cotta, ice cream & beignet.
Wanted a quiet place for an intimate birthday dinner. Perfect from beginning to end. Michael, our waiter, was knowledgable and extremely attentive. Food was delish. We ordered drinks off the speciality cocktail menu. We shared a salad, then each had two appetizers: (beef tartare, pate, scallops and mussels), and shared a dessert. It was quiet so we could actually carry on a conversation. Looking forward to returning.
Let's start with how small the restaurant is, not as a bad aspect, but it's a cozy restaurant with a great date night ambiance so make sure you have a reservation because the tables will be occupied. We went to The Blue Spoon Saturday evening and as we left were already anticipating our return visit. From the dishes to the service, to the atmosphere, it was a home run.
The food was delicious, local, and fresh. We started with the Casco Bay MusselsI and it was a new and surprisingly perfect combination with garlic, Thai chili, white wine broth base. For our main course, K had the
Braised Beef Short Ribs with Carrots, mushrooms, lardons, pearl onions, and potatoes. She was not disappointed. C had the Pan-Seared Bavette Steak*, we were obviously in the mood for red meat tonight and it was superb.
Our server was attentive and eager to please. With only 2 servers manning the front of the house I did not feel forgotten for a second. If you are reading this review, I highly recommend it to diners of all ages and tastes. Did I mention they make great cocktails and have a moderate list of preferred wines ;)
I have gluten, onion and garlic allergies. Our server was so helpful, and my meal was safe and delicious.
We were slogging our way through 5pm traffic, called ahead that we'd be 5 minutes late for our reservation - no problem we'll hold your table. EVERYthing from walking in the door to walking out was terrific including a heater in the ladies room making it extra comfy. The only thing that was even slightly uncomfortable was the chair of my table was back to back with the chair of the table behind me. If I were a bigger person it would not have worked. THIS is no big deal considering how wonderful the food and service was. We had a terrific experience and will be back, preferably every time we have a show at The Good Theatre across the street. Highly recommend Blue Spoon
My niece and I each had the fish stew, and it was just unpleasant. The broth was supposed to be tomato saffron which sounded lovely, but there were chunks of lemon cooked in it as well, which upped the acidity to inedible. We both struggled to eat it and then gave up, paid the hefty bill, and left. I've been to this restaurant three times as it gets great reviews, but I've yet to come away from it thinking it was a good experience. This was definitely the last time for me.
A favorite place, brunch is excellent.
Cozy, with great service and yummy food. Squash salad a standout on this visit.
Our food was fabulous and the service was great. We will definitely return.
Nice brunch spot in portland! Great food and great service.
Excellent service & food!
Small cozy older building space with pretty multi paned windows. Amazing food, loved the braised short ribs, so tender and flavorful. Attentive friendly waitress and quiet warm atmospheric, nice for easy conversation. Will definitely be back.
Delicious food! Wonderful and charming service! Lovely Ambience....In great neighborhood.
Server went over the top to make it a great meal
Great menu, even better wait staff.
We had a fantastic time. The service was exemplary, the food was delicious and portions perfect. It is also a beautiful space and tastefully decorated. We will definitely return.
Everything was delicious and the service was great. A great little bistro.
Fabulous, as always! Love this place!
This is a small, cozy, solid restaurant. Farm to table concept and wonderful food and wine. It has a real neighborhood restaurant feel yet worth the extra effort to visit. Highly recommend.
Excellent small restaurant with a varied and fun menu. Relatively quiet, good service, convenient to Good Theater and other Portland events.
Excellent spinach salad .
Loved the scallops over spaghetti squash but would have loved a dinner portion ( the waitress didn’t tell us it was an appetizer . )
Will definitely be back .
Took visiting family here. They’re not always easy to please, but thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We were able to book a reservation on the same night within two hours of dining in a Saturday night. Food was excellent and we had a wonderful server. Love the close, comfortable atmosphere there. Will return again and again!
My favorite restaurant!
We had one of the most amazing mushroom pasta dishes we’ve ever had and the sword fish that night with roasted fennel was delicious. Great service and appreciate the advice on wine pairing by our server.
Would go back.
Blue Spoon never disappoints. The atmosphere is intimate; you can talk, and listen, without straining; the servers are attentive and friendly, and the food is always delicious, interesting and varied.
It is important to make a reservation - the space is small and the tables few, which honestly is a major ingredient of the Blue Spoon's charm. Along with the big street-side mullioned windows, looking out at the homes and small shops of Munjoy Hill.
Perhaps the best meal of the year! We ordered four items off the top of the menu. Each was prepared to perfection! And our service was professional and fun. If we lived in Portland, we’d be back regularly.
There had been a nor’easter two days earlier, and while power had been restored, for some reason all of Munjoy Hill lost power again several hours before our reservation. The Front Room down the street simply closed, but the Blue Spoon gamely stayed open, using candle light and pasting together a modest but tasty menu with what they could manage: a choice of salads, a well-balanced cheese plate, cauliflower soup with smoked salmon, steak tartare, perhaps a few other items, and their signature chocolate pot-de-crème for dessert. We were mightily impressed!
great menu, lots of choices
salad was WAY TOO overdressed; even though asked for it to be lightly done
food took very long to come out... dessert was delish, but waited too long on an early weeknight ..
My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner and both really enjoyed it. The food was delicious, service was great and the atmosphere, albeit small, was great.
The service was terrible. The food was good, but not good enough to overcome the bad service.
