We had a fantastic time. The service was exemplary, the food was delicious and portions perfect. It is also a beautiful space and tastefully decorated. We will definitely return.
Everything was delicious and the service was great. A great little bistro.
Fabulous, as always! Love this place!
This is a small, cozy, solid restaurant. Farm to table concept and wonderful food and wine. It has a real neighborhood restaurant feel yet worth the extra effort to visit. Highly recommend.
Excellent small restaurant with a varied and fun menu. Relatively quiet, good service, convenient to Good Theater and other Portland events.
Excellent spinach salad .
Loved the scallops over spaghetti squash but would have loved a dinner portion ( the waitress didn’t tell us it was an appetizer . )
Will definitely be back .
Took visiting family here. They’re not always easy to please, but thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We were able to book a reservation on the same night within two hours of dining in a Saturday night. Food was excellent and we had a wonderful server. Love the close, comfortable atmosphere there. Will return again and again!
My favorite restaurant!
We had one of the most amazing mushroom pasta dishes we’ve ever had and the sword fish that night with roasted fennel was delicious. Great service and appreciate the advice on wine pairing by our server.
Would go back.
Blue Spoon never disappoints. The atmosphere is intimate; you can talk, and listen, without straining; the servers are attentive and friendly, and the food is always delicious, interesting and varied.
It is important to make a reservation - the space is small and the tables few, which honestly is a major ingredient of the Blue Spoon's charm. Along with the big street-side mullioned windows, looking out at the homes and small shops of Munjoy Hill.
Perhaps the best meal of the year! We ordered four items off the top of the menu. Each was prepared to perfection! And our service was professional and fun. If we lived in Portland, we’d be back regularly.
There had been a nor’easter two days earlier, and while power had been restored, for some reason all of Munjoy Hill lost power again several hours before our reservation. The Front Room down the street simply closed, but the Blue Spoon gamely stayed open, using candle light and pasting together a modest but tasty menu with what they could manage: a choice of salads, a well-balanced cheese plate, cauliflower soup with smoked salmon, steak tartare, perhaps a few other items, and their signature chocolate pot-de-crème for dessert. We were mightily impressed!
great menu, lots of choices
salad was WAY TOO overdressed; even though asked for it to be lightly done
food took very long to come out... dessert was delish, but waited too long on an early weeknight ..
My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner and both really enjoyed it. The food was delicious, service was great and the atmosphere, albeit small, was great.
The service was terrible. The food was good, but not good enough to overcome the bad service.
loved coming to blue spoon! It was right around the corner from our Airbnb and we adored this cute little bistro!
Dinner at the Blue Spoon was once again perfect! Great atmosphere, great food, great drinks, just a great evening overall. Service was perfect. Dine at BS about 3 times per year and never disappointed. Already looking forward to our next dinner there.
The menu was new since our last visit perhaps 18 months ago. There was something for everyone. The portions were well sized and everything was delicious!
Show at the Merrill
Family was in town and we wanted to show them a great time. Blue spoon is always a sure thing!
Great neighborhood spot. Cozy, comfortable room. Food was great. Service was excellent.
There's nothing wrong with Blue Spoon. The food is decent and the location is good. However, for the price point with entrees in the upper 20s, I was expecting a bit more out of the food. I ordered a steak (I confess that I forget exactly what cut) and although it was cooked internally to the correct level of doneness that I requested, there wasn't much taste to the cut of meat and no sauce/spicing to cover up the lack of flavor as is sometimes done with lesser cuts of meat. My friends had similar experiences with their meals; palatable but nothing special. I have no problem shelling out $50 a person when I dine out, but I do expect to leave saying "wow that was really good" and that just wasn't my experience. Given all my dining choices in downtown Portland, I'm not sure I'd pick Blue Spoon again.
Food was delicious... even fingerling potato starter were the best potatoes I’ve probably ever had. Heirloom tomatoes were delicious, as was the seafood stew. We actually loved the dim lights as it made the ambience feel warm and cozy. Our server was a bit quick and a little cool, but still fine. This was our second time here and we will be back.
Great food made from fresh local ingredients, interesting menu, great tasting, and impeccable friendly service. Brought several friends and everyone agreed that Blue Spoon was wonderful!
This is my first time since new owners reinvented the Blue Spoon. Although there is a limited happy hour for drinks only, it's not the same as Wine Time from the previous owners. Thrilled this gem is in my neighborhood.
We have been to Blue Spoon several times. Each visit was very satisfying. The small size of he restaurant creates a warm ambience and it helped that our server remembered that I ordered a Negroni without gin.
We went to Blue Spoon as a special night out in Portland and were not disappointed. The olives as a starter were very unusual - seasoned with cinnamon and delicious! We were both happy with our dinners - steak and a salmon special. Just the right amount of food, and very tasty. Beignets for dessert were light and fluffy!
Blue Spoon is a neighborhood gem! Truly, a wonderful, warm, cozy and intimate experience...
Menu was varied and food was EXCELLENT. With three guests, we had a special tomato salad, farm greens, salmon, pasta and pork chop. All were fabulous....and defined 'farm to table'.
Small and intimate restaurant...with close seating...yet, allowed for quiet conversation and good people watching of both tourists and locals.
Wait staff was warm, personable and attentive. Plan on coming back again and again. Truly a GEM!
food was attractive and served quickly
food quality was high
Paced for dining and enjoying our food and the company. My friend and I enjoyed it very much.
The pork chops were amazing, maybe the best preparation I’ve ever tasted! It melted like butter on your tongue. It’s a very cozy ambiance in a cool neighborhood at the top of the hill.
We had an amazing meal at The Blue Spoon on Saturday - the best food on our 4 week trip! Lovely choices; great catered for the non-sauce loving 9 year old. We are definitely coming back next year - thank you for our delicious dinner!
Sat outside at Blue Spoon. We had the bean salad and the Salmon (fish of the day). Both were excellent. Service was great. The only reason I gave the food a 4 instead of a 5 was that the desert (strawberry poundcake) was very mediocre. Perhaps bad choice by us or perhaps the entrees were so good that we had too high of expectations for desert. We will give them another chance..
Exceptional "Farm-to table" experience! A small venue, with a beautifully curated menu. What a pleasure to be able to hold a conversation in an intimate setting, with careful service, and beautifully prepared food.
No pretense. Take someone you love.
Delicious meal in a peaceful and beautiful setting.
Always a delicious innovative meal, in a lovely atmosphere. An overlooked favorite in Portland
We visit Portland every summer & love the restaurant scene. So many amazing places, so little time! Blue Spoon is always on our list and this week’s dinner reminded us why. We sat outdoors on a lovely evening & ordered summer cocktails, mussels, and the lobster risotto. Sadly, that left no room for dessert! The Munjoy Hill neighborhood is lively & not so touristy as the Old Port. Definitely worth a visit.
Blue Spoon has been a favorite of mine for a long time. Small, intimate, and always good. I had the lobster risotto special - delicious. A bonus for this little gem is that parking has never been a problem.
