Not happy with the restaurant..We showed up at our reservation time just to find out that the restaurant was closed because the chef’s didn’t show up for work..
That was the explanation the hostess gave us?At the same time we can see the waiters setting up tables ?
Sorry that I have to write a poor review..most of the food was not good..the appetizers were poor ..the loaded baked potato was dry and I didn’t see any sour cream ..the piece of bacon did not taste good in the potato..don’t know any place that could make a baked potato taste awful..I did like the prime rib but didn’t like the au jus or horseradish that accompanied the meat..one of our party did not like the spaghetti boulenese ..
Need more servers at this restaurant. Food came out slow and not everyone had their food at the same time. Food is way overpriced; portions are small and further do not justify the exhorbitant prices.
I use OpenTable because I do not like waiting to get table and service for a long time. We got a pretty good service until we order the food. Then I notice that service went so bad. I notice that owner ( or guy in charge) knows some of the people already. Those people get fresh bread. We did not. After we finish entree... We waited 35min... finally I got upset that I walk to where all the serves are... I said, "We have been finished for over 30min." Their answer was, "oh you want a check?" This place looks like a nice place, but service like this .... I would never recommend to anyone.
I normally leave over 20 percent of tip to all the places I go to, but not this place. I did not even want to leave 15 percent, but I did. I just do not want to go back there.
It's great that the guy in charge may know some people, but remember "bad news travels fast!" I am going to tell as many people as possible about this for sure.
Great service and live band
It Is more expensive than I would like, otherwise it’s a great restaurant.
Service was a little slow, even though it was not a crowded night. Ordered the Ribeye, Medium and it was cooked Medium Well and a little dry. not good for the price.
We love the Broadway Grill. Great food, excellent wait staff, wonderful live music, what more could you ask for? This was probably our 5th visit but our first since they've reopened after the fire. We are already getting a group of friends to go again.
Thank you so much HollyH! We are so pleased that you enjoyed your recent visit with us here at Broadway Grill. We hope to serve you and your friends soon and be sure to let us know when you're coming so we can reserve your favorite table for you. -JanaJ.
Do not order the gelato, it is soft serve ice cream, we were a guest other wise would have sent it back,
other than that it was good.
Great will go again
Loved the eggplant dinner and the prime rib !
Service was extremely slow. The waiter was not attentive. Overpriced for what you get. Will not be going back.
Confirmed Open Table reservation but restaurant was all closed when we arrived 10 minutes before time. Two employees inside saw us and ducked out of sight. What’s wrong with people?? Either this is a mismanaged place or they don’t care. Or both. Makes me wonder how careful they are with health and cleannesses. Had to find another place at 8:30 pm. Hassle.
Hello Sir, I checked with my staff and our records and saw that our last customers on the 4th of August left at 8:25pm. I did see your reservation and it was at 8:15pm, being it you arrived 10 minutes prior your reserved time, I see no reason why the restaurant would be closed because we still had guests at the said time. I apologise for your uneventful experience with us, rest assured that I will make sure this never happens again.
Generally this place has bad food. You need to dodge the land mines or you’ll get some nasty dishes. If you order simple food you might go away with a decent meal.
Had dinner with family. Bar service great, but table service was inconsistent and slow. Heard that the owner is trying to sell his liquor license, so assume the place is going out of business.
It depends. The food was great - and all would have been fine - but their live music program began and while it started at an OK volume level - it kept getting louder and louder to where we could no longer talk to each other. This is not how I want to eat my dinner. I did not plan on going to a supper club with a show. We asked our server to speak to them but they really were "all in" to dominating the space. There seems to be no understanding of what "TOO LOUD" is. We did not want to be hoarse the next day, so we left.
Very disappointing meal, and the service was very disorganized. Waited a very, very long time to get our cocktails.
Unfortunately, we had a bad dining experienced. The prime rib was bad, really bad. The chef having a tantrum about us sending it back and it coming back out just as bad was bad. The manager trying to tell us that that is just how the chef talks was a horrible way to cover up. We felt bad for our waitress she was very nice. We were overall disappointed and the manager decided to take off 12% of our bill that was almost 300. Will never go back again.
I’ve been to Broadway Grill many times. I have always had a good time. Tonight things were off. Very loud and bad 80’s music (and I love 80’s music), drink orders were incorrect and medium rare meat that was requested was very overdone. But, as always, the bread was amazing. Overall I was disappointed. Not common at this place.
Service was super slow. I notes in my Open Table reservation that we were celebrating my daughters birthday. I also let the hostess know when we arrived. There was no acknowledgement of her birthday. After dessert was delivered, I mentioned the hostess said she would have a candle in the dessert. At that point, the waiter went back to the kitchen and returned 15 min later w a dessert and candle. Intentions were good, but delivery fell short.
Third or fourth time enjoying the ambiance, service and food! Never order the same thing twice and never disappointed!
Terrible service in an almost empty restaurant. We were a party of 4 for dinner and after placing our order the waitress came back to the table to take it again because she lost the order. Then the food began arriving one piece at a time over about 20 minutes. By the time the last two meals arrived (Rib-eye steaks) the other parties were just about done with their meals. One of the medium-rare steaks was practically raw.
I've gone to the restaurant many times before and enjoyed my meals. I got the feeling it has changed owners and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone and feel really embarrassed that to took my out-of-town guests there.
We were extremely disappointed when we showed up for our reservation at 11am on Sunday only to find the restaurant was closed. Their hours are not posted and no one is answering their phones. No one called from restaurant or OpenTable to let us know- VERY POOR SERVICE... our fault for not taking Yelp comments more seriously.
1. I left two voicemails and never got a return phone call
2. The prime rib we ordered (4) had a lot of fat and no place had a bone.
The chef (I believe) and Hostess were very friendly, but the waitress was a little nonchalant and not super attentive. The biggest problem was that it took a LONG time to get the food, and it arrived lukewarm. Three of four meals arrived at same time, but last meal was delayed. (and one of the meals didn't have everything, and never got it) I finally inquired about the last meal, as three of us were almost done and the last person still didn't have their meal. Somebody came to the table and said they were trying to sort it out as they believed we had already received our food. Then finally somebody else came and said it would be right out. When it did arrive, they were already clearing the plates of the rest of us. Finally either the owner or the chef came over and was very apologetic, said there was a problem with the oven, and was super nice. However, by this point the dining experience while not horrible, was already on a down note. We had considered eating here many times as we went up Broadway, and finally decided to for fathers day, but will probably not return. Hopefully this was just an off day.
ON an up-note, although my steak was a bit cool already when it arrived, it was VERY tasty.
Service was not very good and the food was not good either would not recommend this place
We had a Sunday brunch. Service was friendly and quick; food was plentiful and delicious. Overall we had a very nice meal
Ordered salad and prime rib dinner. Had to send the first Caesar salad back because the lettuce was brown. The waitress was very nice and offered to replace. I replaced with a “green” salad that was also bad. The prime rib dinner was terrible! The neat had zero flavor, the au jus was awe full and the potatoes were gummy like they were warmed up from yesterday or from a can. I used to really like this place and they had a good prime rib..,but no more!!
I’m a flight attendant with layovers in many domestic cities! Layovers in sfo around the airport is sometimes sketchy.. Maverick Jacks is my normal go to for a great burger 🍔
The Broadway Grill just reopened last Dec after a kitchen fire 🔥 and it did not disappoint! It was a Friday and they had free live Jazz!
I had the fried zucchini with a perfect Simi white wine followed by the spinach stuffed tortellini and a Cabernet and it just melted in my mouth! The slow cooked meat sauce served with the tortellini was the exact thing that kicked the dish off the charts!
I’m telling all my layover friends to get to this Grill and enjoy it Fridays for a real treat!!
Also the Burlingame trolly drops off/ picks up right in front of Grill!!!
Service was great but the menu has changed. Less items to choose from. The item I chose was tasty but wasn’t much of it. Sure liked the older menu with more dishes to chose from
Service is not good. We were there Saturday. Ight, May 25 and the restaurant was almost empty. The waiter was nice but served our food and never returned until we flagged him down. No water refills or coke refills. We finished our dinners and it took about 30 minutes to get the waiter to bring our check.
Not so good! I had to send my fish back three times!
I thought the entertainment was excellent.. I think that they need to fix the online menu because it wasn’t the same. As a vegan it’s important. The only entree that was vegan on the menu they were out of.
Ordered the salmon and cooked perfectly however, only presented with a few asparagus tops. Would be nice to have had a starch. Wait staff very attentive.
I would recommend Broadway Grill for the food and the space. The restaurant is beautiful. Very classic. The menu has a very good variety of foods from which to choose. The appetizers and salads are very creative. Main dishes run from pasta to meats and seafood and then to prime rib. I chose a beet and spinach salad to start and then a wonderful duck breast. I was very happy with both.
My criticism is the service. Our female server was very attentive when she first greeted us. She answered our questions and took our order. She brought the wine to taste and she poured everyone a glass. The only time she returned was to quickly ask how we were doing, she didn't refill wine glasses. We didn't see her again until she wanted to deliver dessert menus. Our water glasses also went unfilled until the check was delivered. I would go back for the food but the poor service will keep me from returning.
We were here for my first Mother’s Day and the following took place:
1. We arrived at 11:00am, reservations were at 11:15pm and the host said our table wasn’t ready. We waited and waited and watched while he sat other parties. At 11:30am he asked us if we were still waiting and we said we have all been here.
2. We got seated and ordered drinks at 11:35 and then ordered food at 11:40. It was 12:15 and we still didn’t receive our order. 12:30 came around and there was still no food. We finally asked our waitress at 12:40pm and she asked the kitchen and the chef said it would be about 10 more minutes, but our waitress was honest and said a dent hasn’t been made. I told our waitress if our food wasn’t cooked yet, we wound just pay for our drinks and leave.
3. We left at 12:45pm and the waitress didn’t have us pay for our drinks, but we did leave her a tip.
4. It’s Mother’s Day and everyone there had reservations so the kitchen and the entire restaurant should KNOW how many people will be arriving.
5. I will NEVER go back to this restaurant again and I will tell all my friends/family members not to go here also!
Came for their "brunch". Menu is very limited and over priced. Service was fine, but slow. Food was subpar, portions were small and steak was either overcooked or under-cooked. Will not be back and would not recommend to anyone for brunch/lunch. Can't speak about their dinner service.
prime rib was not fresh -- tasted (and looked) like reheated meat.
Service friendly, but not good.
Fettucine with seafood - mussels tasted frozen and many did not open - not good
Will not go back.
Restaurant nearly empty as well.
After it re-opened, the business was slow and wasn’t as good as we were there a year ago.
Arrived early for my reservation and we were seated immediately. The wait staff were all friendly and attentive. The food was delicious! I had the Golden Beet Root Salad, was fresh and delicious, the vinaigrette dressing pulled it all together with the candied hazelnuts. The New York Steak was cooked perfectly, had a smokey wood flavor, but not overwhelming, with a side of roasted brussel sprouts sprinkled with cooked bacon. My friend had the prime rib with a side of their lemon mashed potatoes. I've never had lemon mashed potatoes! She told me I had to taste them, so delicious, creamy, with just the perfect amount of lemon. I will definitely be back, and strongly recommend the Broadway Grill.
