Great service! Fabulous food! Wonderful ambiance!
Great all together. Good good, met expectations. Will definitely come back and recommend to friends
A typical French bistro with good food, interesting wines, and a vintage atmosphere. The steak frites and duck are standouts.
It may have been a different experience should I have sat inside. I had heard good things about this place but we were barely attended to or checked up on. I had to keep asking the other servers for things to relay to our waitress.
The soup was delicious.
Great French style bistro in the heart of downtown San Francisco.
Great food, great service and beautiful atmosphere. Felt like I was in an upscale bistro in Paris!
Far below expectations
The food was wonderful. The cocktails/wine were nice. The service was friendly and efficient, and the Owner was fun to talk to. The experience was enjoyable and we will definitely return
Great Parisian style lunch! Great wines by the glass
Cafe de la Presse never disappoints. The ambiance, the service and the food are always perfection.
Such a great spot, love the food.
One of my favorite French cafes since they opened in 2005. Now that I don't live in the Bay Area, I make a point of going every trip back to SF. Always excellent food and service. Wonderful ambiance.
Have eaten here many years, almost always order the Croque Monsieur (CM). A downside on our last visit was the addition of a dollop of pesto on the CM (not classic) and the thicker fries - prefer the skinny pommes frites. Still like the restaurant but I cannot rate it as high as it was pre-pandemic.
A quintessential French bistro. And awesome food.
I always feel like I'm in France when dinning at Cafe del Press. Food fit for foodies, nice wine selection and great service.
I had eggs Benedict. The two pieces of Canadian bacon or ham was the thickness of a piece of paper. The eggs were nicely cooked but the price of $19.00 was excessive for two eggs, two halves of an English muffin with two thin pieces of ham, a small amount of Hollandaise sauce and the equivalent of a half a fried potato. My recommendation is to reduce the price or serve an adequate portion. I don’t plan on returning soon unless the management plans on improving. Service was polite and welcoming.
I love this restaurant while some things changed (old fries used to be thinner and a little more appetizing) it’s one of my moms and my favorite places. We love the croque monsieur and butter lettuce salad and the ambiance is very authentic French cafe but in the heart of SF. So grateful that the place still exists.
Service is friendly!
Love this place! Have been her several times but of course first time since Covid. They are very concerned with your health. Verne brûlée out of this world!
Love the mussels and French fries.
Just as amazing as it has been for the past 15 years (for us). We love the city and try visit once a year. As soon as we land we go to Cafe de la Presse. Breakfast or Lunch or Dinner. Meals and menu hand crafted to the perfection. Any item you order leaves an impression! Yes, like an art composition. You want to come back and try it all. And after that you will fly to San Francisco so you could go to Cafe de la Presse!
As restaurants are slowly opening up after the shut down for over a year, Café De La Presse went out of their way to make our early dinner absolutely perfect. We had a wonderful woman serving us. She was fun and attentive. Food as always, was absolutely delicious. We were meeting up with good friends we hadn’t seen for several years and our whole experience was extra wonderful dining here. Can’t thank all of the staff at Café de la Presse enough.
Great attentive welcome and service
The food was excellent! Great chicken sandwich with lots of chicken. Spicy fries were tasty. Get the chocolate mousse for desert.
Great brunch menu , food is good and the value is also very adorable
It was a great little place for brunch.
Love the egg white omelette with tomato, spinach and feta.
All 3 of us ordered the French Toast. It was perfect for a rainy Sunday treat.
Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. We went to Cafe de la Presse for dinner to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Initially, the three of us were seated at a window table indoors. There was an open window right behind our table and we closed it as April evenings in San Francisco can be quite chilly. We were told that the window had to remain open so we were moved to another table. The menu was online, which was fine, but there was no online access to a wine list (for bottles) and when we asked, we were told there was no wine list available. We asked the price for a bottle for one of the wines offered by the glass, and we were able to order it. Strangely, when another larger party was seated near us, they were given a paper wine list on request. When the check came, we paid with three credit cards and left the restaurant. Shortly thereafter, the waitress ran out of the restaurant to let us know that she had made a mistake on the bill and undercharged us by $26. For some reason, she had voided my original charge (of one-third of the bill) and charged me for the whole meal without my knowledge, but then she reversed that charge as well and re-charged me for the original one-third amount. Eventually, she reversed the original charge on my friend's card to re-charge her with the added $26. It took quite awhile for the waitress to figure all of this out and after nothing had been done to acknowledge my friend’s birthday (although I realize that the restaurant is not obligated to do so), it just made what we were hoping would be a lovely birthday dinner experience extremely disappointing.
I enjoy coming back to this restaurant from time to time and while often, it is for breakfast, I have occasionally had dinner as well.
The service is a little aloof but not unpleasant so, I am satisfied in that regard. The food is straight forward and well prepared. Solid Eggs Benedict continues to bring me back.
Their burger is also quite nice in its straight forward, and tasty way !!
Best way to sum this up; solid food quality, service that ultimately gets the job done and pricing that’s just moderate enough to achieve the value proposition.
I’ll keep coming back.
A great place for a fancy lunch! The food is perfect and the staff is very friendly. My husband had the fried chicken sandwich which was big and flavorful. We will be back!
Cafe serves a great salade frisee and hamburger. They could do much better with their wine selections--after all, it is a somewhat traditional French restaurant but with few French wines by the glass. Comfortable place to eat.
Food was OK - croissant was soggy at bottom from the eggs. Drinks could be colder. It took awhile for someone to attend to us and felt rushed - perhaps reduced staff?
The pasta that my Mon had was lacking in flavor. Their other dishes looks good though.
It was a perfect romantic lunch for two. the food was perfect and the service was phenomenal. We will definitely come back.
Used to come here all the time. Excited to see on SF Restaurant Week list. Reserved for 2 outside. My friend arrived before me and ordered tea. It was brought out w/o any sugar/honey and nobody followed up. Tea was cold by time I got there. Sat for approximately 15 minutes, nobody came out. Went inside to ask for menu and sugar. Told menu is on the QR code. Asked if I know how to use it...Looked at menu and it’s a different one than what SF Restaurant Week links online. Woman came out with sugar (1 Raw, 1 Cane, 1 Stevia) didn’t ask what kind my friend wanted - what if she needs 2 of the Raw sugar? Most people don’t mix and match! When asked about menu said that’s last year’s and she has no idea why it’s online. I was allergic to one option of the 2 listed. At first, b/c of the lack of service, I thought this was a new employee, but since she knew about last year’s menu it seems like she’s a manager and really resents serving people. There was NO preemptive kind of, here are the specials or warning about last year’s menu. She left and came out with a paper menu which had a couple more options. It wasn’t to be helpful, it was PROVE the menu option listed online was from last year. Then, before we had a chance to look, she took the paper menu and left, leaving us with the two online QR menu choices, one of which, as I said, I couldn’t eat. We had been dining at a different restaurant every day of restaurant week and BY FAR, this was THE WORST. Hard to imagine with only 2 other tables busy inside, this is the kind of service my friend and I received. We decided to choose another restaurant nearby for lunch and left after paying for the tea. Really disappointing experience of a once-great restaurant. I wish I could say it was Covid-related issues, but the other places we went had much better service, so I doubt it.
Always happy with this place! I take clients here and it’s consistent
Great COVID precautions. Would definitely go back!
Great food and service.
