Carriage House Restaurant
Another absolutely delightful dinner at The Carriage House. It's a shame this is just a seasonal restaurant as it would be wonderful to visit when I'm not just going to the Papermill Playhouse. The food is always fresh, exciting, creative and most importantly, delicious. Vegan and vegetarian options abound which is always refreshing to see. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable and not afraid to get answers when asked perplexing questions. The manager, Christopher, is super-human at times and is deserving of a Customer-Focused Employee Award of the Year for sure. Don't miss out on this gem of a place next time you are in the area. It's 4-star in my book!
Always a great time food and staff excellent eat here every show we attend
It was wonderful. Thank you.
Mike was an excellent waiter!
This was a pre- theater lunch with small children — ages 4-7. Very successful. The service was lovely. The food, pretty good. Recommend.
The food was very good and the service was excellent. I would definitely recommend the Carriage House.
This was, by far, the best meal that I have had in awhile. The staff are personable, knowledgeable, and so very friendly! The atmosphere is cozy and makes you feel like you are the only table there. The food was amazing I could not leave anything on my plate! Best mushrooms I have ever tasted! I wish that I could give everything more than five stars!
Perfect venue; great food; great service beyond expectations and "location, location, location!"
Shepherd’s pie was no longer available. We had baked macaroni and cheese. It was loaded with garlic and not even fair. Coffee was excellent and dessert fair. We have been coming here about ten years and this is the first disappointment. We were here before seeing the play.
Enjoy this restaurant before the play. It is a very convenient and reliable for a nice meal and experience. our server was excellent and the ambiance was great.
Amazing place to have a wonderful dinner before a spectacular show
Decorated nice for the holidays. Food was outstanding. Giovanna our waitress was fantastic! We were not rushed this time. When we ate there for beauty and the beast we were served fast, each course right on top of each other. Giovanna spaced everything out beautiful! Hope to have her again. A great restaurant!
Celebrated my wife’s 70th birthday.
The waitress was attentive without being intrusive.
The food was very delicious and presented well. The quantity of food was just right.
We had tickets for Paper Mill Playhouse, so this restaurant was most convenient.
We enjoyed our meal and will definitely return .
Donna, our waitress, was superb. Polite, helpful and engaging. Food was fair. Pizza =awful (frozen).
Loved Chris, our
Server!!! The chicken was dry ..not thrilled but my daughter loved her veal/ risotto dish!!
I made surprise plans. P/u my daughter from Newark airport went to dinner @ The Carriage House then went to see the play Cinderella
Lovely start to our afternoon of enjoying Cinderella at the Papermill. To be just steps away from the theater on a rainy day was a bonus. The restaurant is an upscale place with linens on the tables, but the atmosphere was comfortable with patrons adult dressy to children in costume. The Prix fixe menu included a number of interesting choices for appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Our server, G, was perfect - friendly, cheerful, attentive yet never rushed us, and polished.
We were impressed with the quantity of very good food, the price and the excellent service. We plan on making this a regular part of our theatre experience.
Had a lovely lunch with good food, great service, and great ambiance. I would definitely dine here again. It’s a pre-fix 3 course menu with great choices. We thoroughly enjoyed!
The Cinderella menu is a little limited. Recommend the Shepards Pie. The frittata was very bland. As always staff is awesome.
As usual service, ambiance, and food were amazing. We enjoy the menu and everyone who works there is kind and accommodating.
Great experience. Very convenient when paired with a show. Great food and nice ambiance
Short ribs on bone over risotto was not good. Server and kitchen staff delivering food said not to eat the “connective tissue”. Not a good thing to say. In addition the excessive broth ruined the risotto.
We had a wonderful dinner and a very good bottle of wine before seeing “Cinderella”.
The food is always well prepared, interesting in taste and textures, and wonderful flavors. There are always several choices to please every taste.
But I do wish the chef would get over the obsession with butternut squash soup---some of us don't like it and would appreciate another selection!
Our only place to dine when visiting Papermill Playhouse.
Our pre show lunch was great our waitress Donna did an excellent job and we had plenty of time to enjoy our meal and make the show start time.
Come every year for the shows very good ambiance good . Menus r different and okay
Dining at Carriage House prior to a matinee is an experience. Most of the people at nearby tables have the same theater tickets and we were able to reserve our tables in advance. Although I am dining solo, I still have people to talk with. The bloody Mary is special with shrimp, olives, and celery. The cream of butternut squash soup was delicious. Beef shepherd's pie with smashed potatoes had just the right amount of gravy. Dark chocolate covered peppermint gelato truffle was the perfect ending.
This is a great place to go to eat with friends and family. Was celebrating my birthday as well as dining before the performance at the Paper Mill Playhouse. Great service, excellent menu choices, well paced meal, very enjoyable experience.
The convenience to the theater makes this restaurant a gem. Have eaten here many times and have never been disappointed.
I was a table for one and treated myself to a show and lunch. Absolutely wonderful! Sweet yet earthy butternut squash soup
Cheese filled pasta purses w/ fall veg. and pancetta
Dessert was Fall pumpkin bread pudding! The staff is extremely pleasant and made me feel So comfortable. I had a cozy fireplace seat. Loved every minute of “MY” special day! Thanks to them!
Very good as always. Appreciate the novel dishes offered
The creativity and preparation of the food is excellent! Soup, Entree, Dessert all exceptional. Kudos to The Chef.
Wait staff is top-notch and the added bonus of the Manager asking how our food/service was during our meal showed an extra layer of courtesy.
Dining experience/Pub atmosphere = EXCELLENT!
The food was different than the typical burger and served quickly. The presentation was very nice and the three courses were all delicious
My husband and I were celebrating our 59th wedding anniversary. The service was great and the food outstanding. We can't wait to go again.
This was the first time I was disappointed in the Carriage House. I have been there many times and loved it. This time, the food was not artisanal. I ordered the beef dish that turned out to be a very cheap cut of meat - cooked forever to make it tender. There was a mass of mashed potatoes and no other vegetables. Friends who ordered fish also had no vegetables. It was augmented with a mound of carbs.
While the food was good, the fact that everything was prepared with no changes permitted made it less then acceptable
Excellent food! Always an interesting menu. Top notch service from very friendly staff.
Great food great theater great staff never disappoints. Always seasonal and delicious and fits the show you are seeing
