Delicious food and great service!!!
One of the best Funghi Rissotto in the entire Bay Area!!!
The complementary bread is freshly baked every day and it is to die for!!!
Service is 5 stars
We will come back soon!!
Cetrella is our go-to, post Covid, location to entertain at. They have a great outdoor area that is fully covered, terrific table service and a menu that provides choice for everyone b
Beautifully presented, excellent quality, fresh food. Tasted delicious and service was great. We loved dining outside on the patio last night! Thank you.
Very nice folks, but the service on this particular visit was extremely poor. Our food was very delayed and our waitress hardly checked in on us - and we never got an explanation of why the food was so late. To their credit the entree that was poorly done was taken off our check. We will return because a good place to eat in downtown Los Altos outdoors, but if this were to happen again it would probably be our last time
Always lovely. The food is consistently excellent as well as the service. The best part you can sit outside without being in the middle of the street
Food was so so. Did not reflect the $$$
Great service and excellent food.
The owner took us to a table and I asked my wife if it was okay, the owner turned to me and said “what’s wrong with it?” In a very rude and condescending tone. Turns out they now use soybean oil on almost all of their food even though many people are allergic including my wife who was told there was only one thing on the menu she could eat. When she asked the owner why they use soybean oil when most restaurants do not, he just shrugged and said that is what the chef uses. We won’t/can’t go back even though the food we did have was good. They were very busy so I guess they just don’t care. It will catch up to them.
I always like going to Cetrella as I can count on consistently good food with lots of choices for vegetarians.
We had a wonderful dinner outside on the patio. The food and service was excellent. Out on the patio we didn't hear anything from other dining parties which is why I said quiet, but there were other parties also dining outside.
Had delicious dinners and complimentary glasses of after dinner wine to help us celebrate our anniversary. Thanks for a great evening.
Noted the reservation as an anniversary (39th wedding) but not acknowledged by the restaurant at arrival or throughout the evening. Preferred to sit outside because we are still not 100% comfortable with inside dining yet, and it was a nice evening. Unfortunately two tables were very noisy. Food generally good; soup, beet salad, branzini, but short ribs very salty. Cocktails were very nice, as were the glasses of champagne and Pinot. Overall slightly disappointing for a special occasion.
Very welcoming restaurant. Greeted warmly and seated right away. Service team was attentive but not overbearing. Enjoyed a leisurely but efficient dinner pace and never felt rushed.
We enjoyed the Branzini (cooked perfectly and tasty), Mushroom Risotto (creamy and flavorful), Glazed Short Ribs (moist, meaty, and a nice rich flavor). Ended the evening with the Flourless Chocolate Cake (a must for anyone, dessert fan or not)!
The seating was comfortable and ambiance was nice and open. We enjoyed a booth so there was a level of privacy and sound absorption. The manager made the time to chat with us and we felt like we were his top priority at that time. A nice personal touch.
Wine list is good, many choices and price ranges.
We celebrated our anniversary but will be back much more often!
It was so good to see staff that we haven’t seen for over a year! Food and wine was excellent, as usual.
Each dish was so well prepared - great taste and texture. We sat outside and the heat lamps kept us warm as the temperature dropped. And the service was terrific.
First time visiting & would go back.
We had a nice dinner in their outdoor seating area. The area is nicely heated. Couldn’t order pizza because the oven was broken. Had risotto, king salmon, fennel pasta and paella. Overall food is great, portions are ok. We didn’t get any of their bread normally served with dinner. Found out that you need to ask for it otherwise they won’t serve it 🤔
Great location and exceptional outdoor seating with easy parking.
Food was good, service was fairly slow tonight. Unknown if this is a common thing, but definitely wasn’t what we were expecting …
I've been going to Cetrella for many years because the food is of very high quality, fresh, local, not overwrought. I love pasta, and that is a highlight of the menu, but everything is very well done. It's a good place for a date or a special occasion. When we were in lockdown I got my birthday dinner as takeout from here.
I am a regular at Cetrella and the restaurant never fails to deliver. I had the lamb meatballs and the cappelleti and both were delicious. My family was busy, so I had a nice dinner in the bar, which was comfortable and only two other people. The service was superb!
Really good food and service overall. Portions are a little small side but we are small eater so it's perfect for us. Great atmosphere.
We were a party of 5 on Mother's Day. Everyone of us throughly enjoyed our meals. We had multiple items and seriously all of them were outstanding. At the table we enjoyed carrot soup, beet salad, kale salad, steak, branzino, salmon, chicken, stuffed pasta, Brussels sprouts, a doughnut hole type dessert and ice cream. Everything was fantastic. This is a new favorite restaurant now and I can't wait to go back.
Good food! We ordered for appetizers beet salad, crab cake cucumber salad;
for entre - bronzini; for dessert bomboloni and panna cotta. All dishes was delicious.
Good food but the fixed course menu was a bit pricey.
Consistently great - our neighborhood go to. Changing menu with a few staples. Everything is well prepared. Service is friendly and professional. And I love how they always remember us and welcome us back.
My favorite restaurant in Los Altos. Felt safe during these Covid times. The menu is always interesting so it's hard to decide. Looking forward to our next visit. The service is amazing!
Great for special occasions or just a night out. Love the wait staff and the owner! The food is the best in Los Altos!
I made a reservation for two on a Friday afternoon for 2pm. I was running late with work so I called at 1:30 asking to move the reservation time to 2:30. Found out that they close for a period of time between lunch and dinner and that period of time just happened to start at 2pm. My request was taken to the chef who graciously accommodated. I headed over forthwith and the first thing I noticed was the lovely downtown area. For a downtown it was pretty quiet for a Friday afternoon, but that could just be because all the restaurants close for a period of time between lunch and dinner. Our server met us and was very thorough with explaining the menu items and kind about letting us take our time. We ordered the lumache con funghi and forest mushroom risotto, along with a crown of the peninsula and the cetrella cocktail. We thoroughly enjoyed our entrees and cocktails, and were surprised to be offered dessert on the house after asking for the check. Cetrella is definitely a gem not only because the staff was so accomodating but also because the food exceeded expectations and the service was top-notch. I'll definitely be returning, but despite enjoying the after-hours private dining experience next time I'll plan accordingly for their midday closure.
We made our first trip to Cetrella after reading the positive reviews, and they were substantiated. My wife and I first had a cocktail from their selections, nothing too special there. We had brought our own wine, $35 corkage fee. I then had the crab cakes and my wife the beet salad to start, followed by the four mushroom risotto and short ribs. The food was presented well and delicious. Our waiter Andrew was exceptional, very engaging and helpful. We had no room for dessert so cannot comment on the selections. Since the county was now allowing seating indoors, we had the chance to see the inviting inside of the restaurant rather than eating on the patio. We will definitely be back!
I found Cetrella by search on OpenTable. The website, food images and menu convinced me to give it a try. We were not disappointed. Excellent service, beautifully presented and delicious food. We started with the kale and pear salad then the mussels. The salad was fresh, crunchy and bright. The mussels were bursting with flavor. Go ahead and order extra bread to enjoy every drop of the broth. The mushroom risotto was luxurious and creamy with lots tender mushrooms. The whole branzini was perfectly cooked with crispy skin. The filet mignon melted in our mouths. The bottle of 2015 Marchesi di Gresy Barbaresco Martinenga was wonderful with each course. For desert we did the chocolate cake and panna cotta. Our favorite was the panna cotta it was rich, citrusy and satisfying. I recommend giving the spot a try.
It was so nice to have the option to eat inside on a cold night.
Cetrella is one of my favorite post-COVID haunts, which is not a surprise, since it was a pre-COVID one as well! It has a large outdoor patio with plenty of table space, toasty heaters, and great food and drink to match. The family each has their own favorites, from the perfectly dressed chicory salad, the fritto misto, the pastas, to the short rib. Wine lovers will be drawn to the display large bottles of meals past (yes, that is a '79 Dunn Howell), and if don't find a bottle on their list, you are welcome to bring your own for a very reasonable corkage fee.
Wow, this was an awful and disappointing experience. The appetiser was clearly frozen, burnt outside pink and ice cold inside. The sides were stale and hard like they were from yesterday or were wildly over cooked and mushed under the fork. Then the steak... wow. I was beyond shocked to see what looked like someone ran to Safeway to quickly buy a boneless ribeye (not even from the case, but from the styro wrapped in plastic) dropped in front of me. That was the most disappointing part of all. The breaking point was the complementary dessert that was brought over and wasn’t cooked all the way and was also ice cold in the centre.
Pass on this place, I cannot believe the reviews I’m reading. This reminded me of going to ‘that’ friend’s house for dinner and them trying to impress you with their “cooking skills”. I’m pretty bummed because this was far from a reasonably priced meal for what was served. A few hundred for a solo diner and leaving with a loss of appetite is unacceptable.
great! will come back
Cetrella has maintained it impeccable service, delightful food, and a semblance of great ambiance, despite the restraints created by our now year-old pandemic. Kudos to the management, staff, both in the kitchen and on the floor.
This is such a lovely restaurant. The food is always excellent, the owner is wonderful and the service is great. Cetrella is our favorite Los Altos restaurant because it never fails to provide a first class experience. The crab cakes are a favorite and the New Zealand salmon is perfect!
Cetrella has done a very nice job of pivoting to outdoor dining under the archway at the side of their building. Abundant heaters, quick service and the usual impeccable food made for a very lovely evening.
