Nice lunch - very limited choices on the menu. Staff was pleasant but didn’t seem fully engaged or trained - and yes there were enough staff. Major problem was that there were at least four flies and a small wasp where we were sitting indoors. A little surprised by the lack of attention to detail given the prices. Also - wouldn’t it make sense to use umbrellas for the tables you have outside if you have them? A couple of easy fixes that would improve dining experience.
Outstanding, delicious gourmet food, excellent service, friendly attentive wait staff, breathtaking view, nostalgic porch. Worth every penny. Take the time to treat yourself to a memorable meal with friends and family.🤗🤗🤗
Beautiful setting and lovely porch. My friends and I came over with our bikes. We were hot and sweaty from our ride to the ferry from Falmouth and welcomed the porch and cold water. There was no regular iced tea available, but we did try the flavored tea which was nice, but disappointed that it was not automatically refilled. The food was good, though the portions are small (over $5 for a 1/2 cup of chicken salad on our green salad??). Service was slow but we wrote it off for "island time" and as long as we had water, we were fine. The nicest feature: the bus girl filled up our water bottles with ice water so we were well hydrated for the remainder of our bike trip. Thank you!
I was not prepared for the cost to get there. Using the Chebeague Island Transit - the Ferry ride over was $18 a person on top of $15 for parking at the bus location. As a local, I thought this was steep for the experience. I wished the Inn had offered a discount or something for those wishing to eat at the restaurant.
I can’t say enough about Chebeague Island Inn! Amazing experience and their lunch and dinner were delicious!
An absolutely lovey meal! Got to eat on the porch, with a beautiful view and a gentle breeze coming from the ocean. The food was delicious, and the service was wonderful. I would absolutely return!
We were disappointed to learn on the day of our reservation that the launch service to bring boaters in to the dock was not working. As a result, my husband had to wait on the boat until a space opened up on the dock and was late for the reservation. We would have appreciated a heads up. Also, they were out of some of the menu items, and the service was slow. This was out of the norm for the restaurant. We will go back, since we love it there, but it was not their best showing.
Situated high on a hill above the ferry terminal with sprawling views of the water and a gorgeous golf course, the setting of the Chebeague Island Inn can't be beat. We were a bit surprised to find, then, that the service did not live up to the atmosphere--we had requested to sit outside, but were instead twice offered a table on a covered porch with plastic curtains covering the windows (kind of strange on a gorgeous sunny 75 degree day?). It took 20 minutes until we were finally seated outside and 20 more until we got water and were able to place our order. Luckily the drinks were cold and the food was delicious (BLT and mussels). Our server professional and polite. I would say go for the stunning atmosphere and just don't expect a world class dining experience and you'll do just fine!
They took great care of us at the Inn. A rainy night was festive and the food delicious. We had a reunion of cousins and the staff was wonderfully accommodating! Perfect for celebrating the holiday. Thank you!
Great meal, ambiance and service. We sat on the porch and enjoyed everything about the evening.
Ferry ride to island was well worth it. This is a "throwback" establishment not fancy and in your face like most inns and restaurants around here now. Don't ever change! The Chebeague Island Inn is a dying breed. Simple and elegant.
The Chebeague Inn is quintessential Maine. It’s sophisticated but not fussy, yet cozy and welcoming. The food and service was excellent. It did take time to get our meals but it was busy and I imagine staffing was a bit limited. Overall we had a lovely experience.
The setting is spectacular. I had the best burger of my life. The water glasses was always full. They mix a great drink. Loved it!
Outstanding lunch and dinner! The staff are so friendly and eager to please!
Perfect is back. Great food, wine list and service. Location is, of course, unbeatable.
From beverage service on the gorgeous porch overlooking the ocean, lovely gardens, and the 9-hole “island golf course” to friendly, efficient service at our table, we enjoyed a wonderful several hours at the Chebeague Island Inn. The lobster rolls and french fries were delicious! As day trippers, we thought that getting there was half the fun, from the Route One parking lot by bus to the ferry slip, and then a short but delightful crossing from Cousins Island to Chebeague. What a way to spend a memorable day on the Maine coast in the summer!
Dinner was beyond amazing! Mussels were cooked to perfection and had a mouthwash sauce. I ordered the scallops that were delicious and was surprised at the large portion size. We ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and our waiter suggested Hunky Dory from New Zealand, it was delightful!
We were very unimpressed by the food. Prices and product did not align. Meals were extremely salty/greasy. Such a shame for an exquisite venue with amazing service!
Lovely island location, we went out on our boat on a busy day for brunch and service was “leisurely” but we weren’t in a hurry. The food was average but satisfactory (in past years the food has been more interesting and higher quality). The real reason to go is the summer island hotel ambiance. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, from the boat launch drivers to the front desk to the servers, there’s a cool sea breeze blowing through the restaurant, and there are board games to play in the salon afterward. All in all a very pleasant afternoon “getaway.” If they could up their gastronomic game a bit it would even better.
I ordered the eggs Benedict with ham, which was the priciest dish on the menu. The presentation was very plain and the flavors unmemorable. The fruit bowl added color to the table and I enjoyed the fact that the oranges did not have their skins.
I’ve been coming to the Inn my whole life and this is by far the best experience I’ve had this far. Thanks to everyone and we’ll be back soon!
Beautiful day... had a great time! Service was very good.
Location, food and service were outstanding. Portions are slightly small, so get an appetizer, but well worth it! A nice little getaway at a beautiful location.
Chef Hannah Ryder and staff are absolutely wonderful, preparing and presenting the freshest, most delicious, perfectly prepared and presented food.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We will pass them along to Chef Hannah and the team!
The staff was very accommodating. We had a great birthday dinner! Two of us are vegan and the chef made an amazing vegan meal on the fly to accommodate us. Probably the best vegan meal out we've had!
Last brunch of the year. Island ambiance/food fair. Great guitar soloist.
Excellent service but but fairly pedestrian food. Prices are always a stretch likely due to the logistics of getting everything to an island
Our dinner reservation followed a large wedding party on the premises. While the service was good, the food served seemed to reflect “fatigue in the kitchen”. The mussel appetizers were fine; the pork entree was dry and fairly tasteless. Lesson learned: if you cannot get served before 8:15 offseason, ask why!
A very special place on a very special
island.we We will return!
Food was ok, the servers were really helpful. The salmon and mussel broth was really good!
Absolutely amazing service from the moment I walked through the door! The hostess (Cara) greeted us with a very warm welcome, our server (Donavon) was fantastic!! Very helpful, pleasant, and attentive. Some of the best service I've had. Jayden I believe was her name, ensured that we always had a cold glass of water and that our drinks were refilled in a timely manner. The bartender was David, and his mixology was phenomenal!! Most importantly, whoever was working in the kitchen is on the road to great things! Words can't describe how amazing the food was!! 10 out of 10 experience. Will definitely be back!
For some reason (maybe the relaxed island life vibe?) I was expecting to pay for the extraordinary view and be underwhelmed by the actual food. I was pleasantly surprised that the food was artfully done with a high level of culinary craftsmanship. The experience of a Maine island dinner on a porch overlooking a grand sweep of ocean had been on my a bucket list. I would recommend putting it on yours!
Wonderful brunch! We had family from out of town and the ferry ride to Chebeague plus the service and experience at the Inn was outstanding! Looking forward to future visits for golf and enjoying the Inn.
The food was oily and greasy. The portions were tiny, and too expensive for the amount of food plated. No value.
The exception would be my salad which was clean and a great portion. Pretty delicious. The inn is really quaint and charming!
We loved everything about our stay at the Inn and our twilight dinner on the porch. It’s a perfect timeless Maine Island escape, we’ll be back.
The Chebeague Inn is a charming old fashioned Inn right on the waterfront. The wait staff, several from South Africa, provided excellent, unrushed service. Three of us ordered the BLTavocado wrap with French fries. Our other companion had the chicken salad wrap. All were excellent. Our waiter seemed to notice how much we were enjoying the view from the porch and convinced us to order the yummy, warm chocolate chip cookies. It is not simple to get to the Inn, but if you take Casco Bay Lines you can arrange for the shuttle to meet the boat and take you to the Inn. The other ferry is more expensive & complicated but will drop you off right at the Inn. On a beautiful day you can’t beat the Casco Bay Lines ferry & lunch on the porch!
great meal, great service, great sunset! We ate on the lawn but it got a bit cold. they brought us beautiful shawls. then we had aperitifs and desert by the fireplace. A moveable feast!
The ocean-viewscreened-in porch was nice and quiet at 8:30 a.m. when we came down from our room for our breakfast reservation. The room started to fill up about 9:00 with guests coming downstairs from their bedrooms. The a la carte pricing means everything is extra (juice, coffee, sides). We were delighted with the perfectly cooked French toast (with Maine local syrup, blueberries, whipped butter/vanilla cream, apricot jam). It didn't look like a huge portion, but every bite was heavenly (light airy souffle texture with a little grilled crunch) and it was very satisfying, fulfilling and filling. Non-rushed atmosphere, nice to read The New York Times at a relaxed pace on vacation.
Excellent friendly service by Chris with the beard from Cousins Island. Started with basket of out of this world melt-in-your-mouth homemade biscuits (first basket complimentary with dinner). We ordered light because we had a big lunch here four hours earlier. Amazing fresh ripe in-season salads: Heirloom Tomato and Burrata cheese in shaved cucumber rolls, and Green Salad garden lettuces with watermelon radish, walnut and Shaved Vegetables. Comforting risotto with truffles and summer mushroom. Had to save room for dessert. Excellent fresh poached apricots with lavender, mascarpone, lavender Madeleine. Housemade chocolate ice cream.
