Great food, great service. Look forward to returning on our next visit to Chicago.

The Chop House has been a mainstay in Chicago for many years and we were more than pleased the quality has remained high. Twenty years between visits and if anything, the Chop House has improved! We introduced our always-hungry teenage son to the finest Chicago steak and he is sold! We are happy to report that some things continue to age well! We will definitely be back. Thank you for a memorable evening and dinner!

Food was delicious. Their wine menu was sub par with affordable options. Typically my husband and I get two bottles throughout a long dinner so look for a $50-60 range for a Cabernet. However, their least costly US can was $99. The waiters excuse is that napa wines are expensive- we just went there and there are plenty of other options as well as other locations. Service was HORRIBLE from both the bar for a drink and during dinner. Of all the chicago steakhouses and restaurants in general we’ve been to this was by far the worst service. Since food is good at all of the higher end places I don’t believe we’d ever be back due to service alone.

Had a fabulous time there, our waiter Todd, and the staff were very professional, and went well above what is expected from a top notch restaurant.

Came here before going to a concert. Both the hostess and waitress acknowledged we were on a time crunch and made our dinner still nicely paced but got us out on time. The dry aged steak...... oh man!!!!! So good. Definitely recommend stopping in for a wonderful dinner with great service!!!!

OMG. The service and the food were amazing to say the least. Our steaks were cooked to medium rare just the way we like them. All the sides were also very good. We highly recommend hands down. This is one of the best steak houses in Chicago!!!

The Chop House is a staple of Chicago steak house dining, but last night was not its finest moment. My boyfriend and I sat in the downstairs bar area, which we requested by choice. We enjoyed the atmosphere. The ambience was typically excellent as we’ve come to expect as Chicago residents. This was our 4th visit to the restaurant. Unfortunately, it’s been the least enjoyable from a culinary perspective. The wedge salad was crisp, cold, and good, but that’s where the acceptability of the dining experience ended. We ordered (shared) a 12 oz wet aged filet, with side orders of baked potato and steamed spinach. The filet was a poor cut. Plain and simple. You would typically expect a lean cut of beef, simple and enjoyable to eat, but there were several areas of fatty gristle which we had to remove from our mouths while chewing. Still, that could have almost been acceptable (since the taste of the filet was good). However, the most disappointing aspect of the meal, and by far the most unacceptable under any circumstances, was the serving temperature of each portion of the dinner entree. The food, literally, became cold within 1 minute of being set down in front of us. Not warm, or even cool. Cold. My boyfriend generally accepts some level of mediocrity when it comes to the restaurant experience, but even he couldn’t remain silent this time. He mentioned the temperature of the food to our waiter, and cautioned them to not make the same mistake with later tables. Poor food is a bad night. Poor cold food can be a systemic fail. Chicago Chop House had a bad Friday night last night. The price tag, however, remained the same. Chicago has no shortage of quality options when it comes to steak houses. Keep these options in mind the next time you make your dining selection. Personally, for us, we see no reason to return to the Chop House any time soon.

We went back to Chop House after some years. The food is still very good. The service was excellent. The wine list by the glass was shorten! Wish to have more to chose... The night we went it was very quite, there were few tables occupied, may be because of season, weather or what ever. I do hope to see The Chop House for many more years.

It was great. Everyone took such good care of us, from the time we walked in to the time we walked out. Our waiter Tony, made recommendations, answered our questions, and made sure we had what we needed without be annoying. The piano playing in the background from the first floor made for a really nice ambiance. And all the history that they have pictured was just great for making small talk while you wait for your food. It's a pure Chicago experience. We will definitely be going back.

The restaurant was nice and the food was great. Even better was the service. Overall great experience and highly recommended.

Birthday celebration

Have been many times and honestly very disappointed. Last time I felt maybe just an off night, this time not great. Ordered wine and was delivered quickly, kept trying to find waiter to order appetizers. 10-15 minutes later we got them. They were actually good ordered dry aged tomahawk steak cooked med, it had
Absolutely no flavor and was chewy. Sides were good, but steak was disappointing. After many years, I am no longer a chop house patron!

Supremely disappointed with Chicago Chop House. It was a recommendation from someone in our party who was dying to go there (it had not been in 20 years but clearly much has changed in that time) we weren’t even seated for well over 30 minutes for a 7 o’clock reservation. By the time we got food it was nearly 9 PM. Having frequented Manny Chicago steak House is like Chicago cut, Gibsons, prime and provisions, RPM steak, Fleming’s etc. we made the assumption that the food and service were going to be first rate. The service was so slow food was marginal at best and not worth our check that was well over $1000 for five people. I hate giving bad reviews to establishments because of how important it is for repeat customers to sustain a business, but at a bare minimum your service needs to be exceptional at a fine dining experience. This is not people going out for a burger or a fast casual restaurant this is a fine dining experience everything must be en pointe. We booked the reservation but the check was picked up by our company owner and he too commented saying he was pretty disappointed the next day. I hope that this is an opportunity for some ‘Food for thought’ for the establishment.

Absolute worse wine service in the city. Service was slow and wine warm and corked. Food was cold. Waste of a dinner.

Had a long wait to get bar service. Bar was extremely busy. The bartender was alone and had his hands full. Would have been nice if he had help. He had a great attitude about it though.

24 people in our party, expensive for what we had. I was at a table of 8, four out of eight of the steaks were cooked incorrectly, one member of our party sent the steak back 3 times. We were not impressed.

We had a wonderful meal before going to see Hamilton at the CIBC Theatre. The restaurant had no record of our reservation on OpenTable, but they were able to seat us anyway since it was just after opening.

Fabulous food great service

Celebrating our 35 th anniversary. First time at restaurant. As the service was good the steaks had a bad smell and flavor. Never tasted anything like it before. Threw leftovers away. Also taken back by the drink charge. Never in my life have I experienced a rock charge for an added pour with ice. And $4 for horseradish creme... over priced and up charges we did not approve. Will not return and will not recommend.

Great food, amazing service! Been here 3 times now and will come back again. Lobster Bisque is incredible! Dover Sole....oh my god! So good!

Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere. Food very good, although steaks not done to requests, but nevertheless tender and tasty. No complaints.

A nice place, quiet, excellent staff. The bar tender recommended the Old fashioned, which was outstanding. However, the very expensive steak was nothing special. The house salad and onion rings were good. For the amount of money spent around $140 for one person) it was poor value.

Great food and atmosphere. Service is extremely helpful and the host (Karen) went through a lot of effort to provide us the best experience allowing us to change table at the last minute. Loved it

Have loved this place for over 20 years. Still the best filet I’ve had anywhere in the world.

Shared a tomahawk ribeye, delicious and plentiful for two along with two sides. Chop House salad was excellent.

Classic "ole style" beefeaters steakhouse with BOTH wet and dry aged selections. The seaford tower is to die for.....they are steak specialists but do justice to their seafood selections too. Well trained wait staff; excellent wine menu to include mid range $ to the top of the list--Petrus e.e.$$$.

On site sommelier and friendly atmosphere. Come hungry and try to crab cake appetizer and dry aged tomahawk ribeye!

When I lived in Chicago (87-96) this was my favorite steak house in the city. It’s only gotten better. One of the best steakhouses in the country. Outstanding food, great service, tons of ambiance.

Had a business trip to Chicago, had never been before and so I planned to take myself out for a steak that was better than what I could cook for myself (in Florida, and I am a really good cook). But I don’t have good access to dry aged beef besides mail order, and if I was gonna have it cooked for me then it had to be somewhere I wasn’t gonna wish I had cooked it myself.
I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED
Walked in to a not very crowded dark green and wood paneled room with low volume bebop playing overhead. Warm greeting, friendly service. I asked to sit at the bar since I was alone.
Started out with their signature old fashioned - they make them right - delicious
Had the dry-aged bone-in ribeye medium rare and the Brussel spouts. Came out perfect temp. Perfectly cooked, amazing sear, perfectly rendered fat. Savored every bite.

Everything was wonderful. Great food, service, ambiance. We were looking for a classic Chicago Steakhouse experience and this was perfect.

Food was excellent and our server Effy was great.

There was a rowdy table near us. Staff apologized afterwards, but it impacted our evening in a negative way.

We have been to Chicago Chop House on numerous occasions and have always had a great experience. It was a busy night, however, service was very very slow, waited on pre-dinner cocktails/wine and when our meal was brought to the table the food wasn't very hot. Our server never came back to check on us which surprised us all. I will mark this experience up as not 'normal', but wanted to provide honest feedback to this establishment. We'll be back as again, we hope it was just an off night.
