Cibo Wine Bar Yonge Street
Overall poor experience. I recommend you don't waste your time at this restaurants as there are too many other better ones in Toronto. The best thing about it is if they continue as per the numerous reviews we've read subsequent to going there and management continues to do nothing about it then there will be a new restaurant at this location which in the not-too-distant future.
The service was great. The food was below my expectation. I have been to your restaurant numerous times and this time the food was not like the others
Very poor tasting food. They probably have a new cook from last time we visited the restaurant.
The hostess told us they didn’t have any tables available when we first walked in.
I pulled up the OpenTable app at ~appr 8:10pm and managed to make an 8:45pm reservation.
When we showed up at Cibo for the second time, the hostess looked less than impressed that we were back with a table booked - and furthermore marked me as a ‘no-show’ on OpenTable.
The slow service left a lot to be desired and Cibo is usually one of my favourite spots.
Food service upwards of two hours. Noisy. Kids event in the basement a pain. Damn near tripped down flight of stairs because of staff leaving boxes in walkway.
I have been at this CIBO location about five times. I enjoy their food and the diversity of their menu. Service was both prompt and courteous and the ambience was pleasant and relaxing. Wine list is quite extensive and I was lucky enough to hit Happy Hour with pricing benefits. I've celebrated birthdays and anniversaries there as well as business lunches. I could easily have given it five stars.
Without doubt the worst service I have ever received in my life. The waiter did you not speak to us once and we felt like a total inconvenience to him. His attitude was horrendous and even when mentioning this to the manager we still received not apology. This is the only time in my entire adult life I have not tipped a thing. So disappointing.
We enjoyed the pasta but the arugula salad at 17$ had very few mushrooms (one cut into 4 pieces) and 4 leaves of arugula, rest was entirely radicchio. It was unanimously agreed by our party that the salads are a complete rip off. The best part was their grilled bread.
Food had no taste, cesar salad lacked zest and anchovies. Sauces tasted like they were from a can. Service was poor at best, we were served by the bartender (or it appeared) when she felt like it.
Bruschetta , cold and bread was wet... maybe try toasting it!!
We have been to CIBO a few times. Always has been one of our favourites. We were disappointed this time. Firstly they don’t include bread anymore- they now charge if you order. Portions very small and over priced. We ordered an appetizer to share between 4 of us and a meal each and all of us were still hungry. Waitress was very nice but restaurant was busy so by the time she can back for dessert order, kids changed their mind and wanted to go elsewhere for dessert. For price they charge, they can at least include complimentary bread.
Ambiance is always great.
Great place overall. But our table was directly beside a really strong heat lamp and that made one side of my face and body uncomfortably hot.
I had to keep calling the waitress over. She wouldn’t come to check on us. She missed our dessert order too.
Server was not as present as she should have been.
The service was poor. Very noisy also. Twice they brought the wrong food maybe because they couldn’t hear us order? We kept looking for our server because we didn’t have everything we needed
We love going to Cibo for my birthday every year. The food is so good. Was a little sad to not receive the complimentary bread we usually get; it seems like it is now a menu item.
Service was outstanding. They made up for a mistake with the food they were to wrap up for a doggy bag and remade the entire pizza. The place was fairly empty and yet we sat very close to other tables and could have been sat further away for a quieter time.
Our waiter was very good and helpful. I felt that the appetizers were over expensive.
Food was very good. Generous portion of trout. I like the cheese platter we shared for dessert although it is not on the dessert menu.
My husband and I were celebrating our 32nd anniversary. We enjoyed our time together. Placed at the best table. Service was mediocre. All staff we so robotized nothing personal. MUCH more importantly, we actually gave back our pizza back twice to get it to our liking... Raw first, burnt next ( actually just took our original pizza and put it back in the oven) and then finally the manager (think her name was Lindsey) had to take over ( at our request) to get the pizza that everyone should have had ( cooked evenly and perfect). She was lovely but after the complaint, she did not come back to our table once. to check in All smiles and trained how to service a complaint. Again the robotized feeling. The pizza was taken off the bill ...and rightfully so.
At the end of the day, we know this is a chain and felt everything was just churned out with no care for the food. VERY DISAPPOINTING...we will not go back.
I did not know that you had to pay for bread in an Italian restaurant such a CIBO. I feel like it does not represent the Italian culture accurately. Nowhere in Italy would you have to pay for bread!
Always great food. Reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere, great for small and large groups, families, friends.
I was pretty disappointed. I had to send back my steak twice as it was not cooked to order, and unfortunately as they were remaking the order my companies meal got cold. The pasta was lovely, which I highly recommend
As you can see from my across the board 5 stars everything was amazing. We were celebrating my Mom’s birthday and she loved it. They even put a candle in her tiramisu.
Thank you for your positive feedback. We are thrilled you enjoyed your dining experience at Cibo Wine Bar. We look forward to seeing you again very soon! Best, Sarah K. Marketing Coordinator Liberty Entertainment Group
Quantity was weak. 2 pieces of cannelloni for nearly $30.
Food was excellent
We have been to CIBO many times previously and were very satisfied. We were greeted warmly by the host. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the food was tasteless and the quantities were quite small for the price. We were very disappointed with the food this visit and doubt that we will return.
Hostess & waiter not very friendly.
Flies flying around.
Food is just ok.
Over $200 for 2 adult and 2 small kids.
Can do much better somewhere else.
We shared crispy shrimp and polenta fries for appetizers.
I had chicken parmigiana, hubby had Quattro pizza.
Both were excellent.
First round of martinis, not quite dry enough.
Second set was perfect thanks to the waitress who passed on the message to the bartender.
The Chianti was off, waitress said it must have been an off year for the vintage.
We will be back. Great neighbourhood walk to restaurant which is casual chic.
Although the overall experience of the restaurant was enjoyable, there were many facets of the experience that were subpar. None of the dishes we ordered were the quality that we expected, having heard many good reviews prior to our dinner here, which made it hard to justify paying the price they were marked as (specifically the fried baby squid). The noise level was quite loud making it difficult to hold a conversation, but thankfully it quieted down as the night progressed. In terms of service, though the staff were friendly for the most part, they were not as attentive as I would have expected.
Was there for a friends birthday dinner. My second time, my friends first time. The appetizers and wine were fine and service nd food came promptly. However, the second part of our order was terrible. We ordered the chicken and both orders were undercooked. It ooked cooked on the outside but was uncooked and bloody on the inside. We then ordered the salmon on the grill- it came but was very salty and over seasoned. Manager came over and agreed, so another order for salmon and an order of seafood salad was ordered. The second salmon was raw on the inside, the seafood salad came warm and the mussels were closed and the white clams uncooked. Service was slow . the manager came over again and she saw the raw salmon and uncooked sea food salad. She was polite and agreed to remove the unsatisfactory food from our bill. Overall a bad experience. Food was terrible over and over again. Clearly a more experienced cook/chef/kitchen staff is required. won't be going again.

Service is very slow though reasonably friendly. Someone else’s lipstick marks were on my glass and because it took so long to wait for the waitress I just gave up trying to get a new glass and drank water from my wine glass. Only go if you have lots of time to kill and aren’t particularly hungry yet
Service was fine , food was terrible. I normally go to the yorkville location and it's always good. This place on yonge is complete garbage.
We loved the food and the environment. I love this place
Great time for my anniversary. Went on a Thursday & it was not busy. Food was amazing
One thing - servers never get the right order to the one who made the selection. Basic service protocol! This is a chronic issue at Cibo - for lunch and dinner.
Great food and great service
Service was A+, fried squid was way overly salty and the chopped raw tuna was sitting on old brown/black avocado that I’m surprised made it out of the kitchen. That said, pizza and burrata were amazing...as were the drinks and ambience.
Given the reputation of the restaurant I was quite underwhelmed by my experience (and I believe my 3 guests agreed). The choices for the Brunch buffet were minimal (compared, for e.g. to the Hot House on Front St. E). Coffee was not offered and when we asked we got a surprised reaction and then the coffee that was served was very weak (tasted like instant) and served with skim milk (maybe because coffee isn't served in the afternoon in Italy?). When I complained about the quality of the coffee another cup was served but of the same quality. Given the cost and the quality of choices, I don't intend to return for weekend brunch and would not consider recommending it either. Regrets.
Good food, nice staff, and a pleasant atmosphere. Our server was very nice and engaging and the sommelier was very helpful in choosing a wine that paired well with both our mains. Would definitely go back.
Food was not great. Caesar salad had virtually no dressing and was tasteless. Ambiance was incredibly loud
