Copper Grouse - Taconic Hotel
When we arrived we were told our reservation is inside which was not true as I reserved outside. After some discussion we were then offered a table outside which was nice.
The waitress however was not very interested in serving us and we had to call her several times - plates missing eg. we had a salad as appetizer and that was disappointing, the salad didn’t seem to be fresh. however the Main courses (chicken and salmon) were great and yummy. In general overpriced.
Food was excellent and the service was great complying with all Covid 19 protocols
Great birthday meal here this weekend. We sat outside on the lovely patio with fire pit and a view of Mt. Equinox. Kicked off the meal with some cocktails and shared a caesar salad and the excellent smoked salmon dip. For entrees, I went with the beef tenderloin which was cooked properly to my preference and was an extremely generous cut (was expensive, but . My wife had the hot honey chicken, which she loved. No room for dessert unfortunately. Overall I'd say the menu was conventional but well executed. Also worth noting, service was attentive and Covid protocols were good. Closest table was at least 10 feet away, and we observed comprehensive sanitization between guests. Very enjoyable dining experience all around.
very nice place with excellent food. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a fine dining experience at Manchester
The food was very good. The staff were attentive and accommodating trying to operate in a Covid environment. We reserved an outdoor hightop have an email confirmation of We were very disappointed to have to then sit indoors when there was plenty of tables outside.
Pete is the face of our experience, which wasn’t pretty. His demeanor and the way he checked us in was anything but welcoming. He said we would have to sit outside as we brought our therapy dog with us (she is a service dog). While waving his hand he said we couldn’t sit inside with a dog and we would have to be seated outside in the sun (hot day to be in the sun) but he would get the awning sorted to provide shade. When we asked if we could sit in the front (where it’s shaded and cooler) he said no as they were reserved and he would have to check. After that he left us with our server, E to sort the awning.
Our initial server, E was nervous when I shared that I wanted to speak to a manager. She advised us that Pete was the manager. Wonderful.
Pete returned and advised us that we could sit in the front. Side note, no one and we mean no one sat there the whole evening. It wasn’t reserved after all. Simply awful.
We were then greeted by a new server who ended up taking our order. He was nice and gave us room to enjoy our date.
This is not our first visit to the restaurant inside the Taconic but definitely one we won’t forget.
Clean and spacious, tasty menu, great patio experience
Beef tenderloin was delicious and the bartender seemed like he truly enjoyed his job. I’ll be be back!
The presence of 2 large barking dogs directly next to our table ruined the evening. No attempt was made to control the dogs and the owners laughed and seem to think it was cute. If dogs are to be allowed in dining areas, they should be in a designated area and certainly barking, lunging and growling should not be allowed.👎👎
Very good food and the deck is/porch is a nice place to dine. Fine waitress who was very professional. Second visit in 2 weeks!
Always love being at The Copper Grouse for cocktails or cocktails & dinner!!
Great meal with excellent service
Dined twice for dinner, 2 night stay, vacation/wedding anniversary. The baked Brie appetizer was delicious as was the Maple Plank Salmon entree. Fish was cooked perfectly and the accompanying grilled vegetables and wild rice pilaf were full of flavor. Service was friendly and attentive and love eating on the porch with the great weather we’ve had. Have eaten here 6 times in the past 12 months and always enjoy returning.
We sat on the covered porch and it was delightful. Our food was absolutely delicious; I had the salmon and my husband had glazed chicken. We both loved our food and ate every last drop, the vegetables were especially delicious.
Very nice evening at Copper Grout. Food was delicious. Good to see staff practice Covid guidelines as they were very thorough.
Waitress wonderful. I don’t mind paying for food but Very tiny portions.....overpriced.
Where to start about the utterly disappointing experience at Taconic. We are patient people and even more so right now, as we appreciate that restaurants are doing the best they can under Covid circumstances. The poor service and myriad kitchen errors, however, cannot be attributed to Covid difficulties. Every single table that evening except for one sent food back and had issues with poor service. I changed my reservation from a different restaurant that evening because I thought for sure I would get a wonderful steak to match my craving, as I had never been disappointed at a Kimpton property or restaurant yet. The Taconic was the sad exception. My $45 steak ordered medium well came out rare, after a very lengthy wait. The people next to us refused to pay "for any of this trash." The Taconic is visually beautiful, but from the manager, to the hostess, to the waitress and the kitchen, it was a terrible waste of time and money on our first weekend away since the Covid quarantine.
No. Words. ❤️
Everything was phenomenal! From the service to the food. One of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. Looking forward to returning!
Steak was not good. Too thin. Over cooked not medium rare. Not seasoned to any particular description. And it came sliced... I didn't recall seeing that in the e-menu.
Just recently my new fiancé took me to my favorite restaurant for my birthday. I ordered a jack and coke and they said they were out. I tried what the waiter recommended maker’s mark and coke yuck. We waited 2 Hours for our food I ordered the pot roast medium and it was RARE
It has been awhile since we have gone out and enjoyed a great meal. I love being served again after a few months! Call me crazy but -----------
Great service and excellent food.
This was our first dinner out in months due to the pandemic. The staff took all precautions for our safety yet the atmosphere was still welcoming. The staff was exceptional, as was the food. We had the wings (always amazing), truffle fries, and beef tenderloin. It was all fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. We can’t wait to go back!
We had heard good things so decided to give it a try the service was ok the food was disappointing
Pork chop was way to dry
Sides were so so
No bread or salad included for a $40 meal
Probably won’t return
Excellent food and service.
I have been to the Copper Grouse 5 or 6 times now and I love the ambience, really want to like this restaurant more, but I find every time I leave underwhelmed by the food. It's not bad, it's just for the kind of prices they are charging I expect the food to be more amazing. Think Chili's quality food (fine for what it is) but at upscale restaurant prices.
Patio is stunning absolutely adore this place. Dog friendly restaurant
DO NOT WASTE YOUR $$$$ at this time ~ they certainly are NOT ready to start back up!! We sat down right at our reservation time, but the dinner was not delivered to us until 1 hour 8 minutes later!! The appetizers didn’t take too long to arrive but found out the “dedicated” fryer was down so anyone in our party with a gluten allergy couldn’t eat any of them, which meant that it was awkward and torture to sit for an hour and 8 minutes with nothing to eat!! The Caesar salad was almost dry, server did notice and brought out more dressing. Steak was ordered medium, it was rare in the middle. It was a very big disappointment to finally be able to go out and have such a bad experience. Side note: many customers were not wearing masks either!
Eating outside on Taconic Hotel veranda was lovely & peaceful. Tables were ‘socially distanced’. Staff wore masks & gloves. Everyone was careful!
Chili Shrimp dish was Fantastic. Pork chop entree was really pork loin, not a chop, and was tasty but Not great. Drinks and setting extremely nice. Definitely will return.
Love the staff! ADAM! Our favorite place to visit and get away and relax. Food was fantastic. I got to fly fish with my dog! We had a great visit!
Everything was great. Never a bad meal and always excellent service.
Our server was adorable but slow and inattentive to our empty drinks and slow to take our order. What should’ve been a two hour dinner with friends turned out to be 4 hours due to slow service . The food was great except dessert. They said freshly made and it tasted old and stale . But entrees were delish!
Always a good meal. A little over priced but beautiful patio and delicious dinner.
It was wonderful to get outside and actually have dinner someone else cooked. It was delicious, they were super aware of social distance and made us feel very safe.
Small portions on food. Glass on wine not even half full. Nice atmosphere but not worth the price
The entire experience was great! The salmon was superb as was the bread and salad. The atmosphere and decor was wonderful.
Our waitress was MIA. Another server felt bad that we weren’t being served so she took our order. Finally our server appeared, only to throw our food and drinks at us, never checked in, and was slow to remove our appetizer plates, after we got our main courses. We have stayed at the hotel a couple of times, and have dined there frequently. This, hands down, was the worst dining experience we ever had there.
Amazing burger and amazing service! The gentleman at the bar was a delight and was super knowledgeable! Enjoyed dinner there two nights in a row.
We really like this place. We are local and go often. The prices seem more Manhattan than Manchester and the menu is very sparse with vegetarian choices. Even some of the pescatarian choices such as the clam chowder are larded with bacon.
This time was unusual in that we felt rushed by our server.
I recommend this place, but with the caveats listed above
I would have rated it higher, however, the number of issues we had to correct just makes it good. When we finally got the pace and the order at the right temperature, the food was very good. The problem was, they brought the salad before we were half way done with our appetizer, then by the time they did bring our entrée it was cold, clearly fired to soon and no one really wants to eat cold lamb shank or scallops. They didn't even offer a free dessert or glass of wine to make up for the poor kitchen execution.
