Copper Grouse - Taconic Hotel
We had a really pleasant evening here, enjoyed the decor and atmosphere, had a lively vibe. Cocktails were great, food really delicious and good value. We both felt the service could have been better, a little slow and basic, but all in all enjoyed our evening and would go back.
A friend and I went for lunch, and it was outstanding. The standout was the breakfast sandwich. The bacon jam is epic. Used to dining in nyc, we were truly blown away with how delicious everything was. Five stars!!
Terrific dinner with local ingredients- we sat at the table in the kitchen/
We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your dining experience at The Copper Grouse! We look forward to hosting you in the near future.
Our kids complained that the food was terrible and they’re not picky eaters. Hard to mess up pasta and chicken fingers but they did. The adults all enjoyed their meals although the waitress should have told me the steak special was $58 beforehand. We’d recommend this to adults only but not families.
We always enjoy the Copper Grouse! Very nice ambience, fancy and very casual all at the same time! Friendly staff and some different options for food, I often will get the organic salad with salmon added and maybe share an appetizer.
We have dined here numerous times with our family group of 4 adults and two grandsons. The food and service was outstanding and the attention to the children, both food selection and service, was outstanding, as well.
We will return on our nest visit to Stratton Resort.
We are so very pleased to hear about your wonderful dining experience at The Copper Grouse. It was our absolute pleasure to host you and your family. We look forward to seeing you again in the near future.
We were there for New Year’s Eve and our service couldn’t have been better.
My two sons and I wanted a late dinner and found the perfect place for steak and desert. The service was fast, the wait staff efficient, and the food outstanding.
Holiday Week we expect things to be busy. Our waiter was not friendly at all, really could care less that we were there. Gave us no hello and no options other than to order. We’ve been out every night in the area during holiday week and this was the worst we’ve been treated. Really disappointed. In bar, service and management who we watched do nothing to help service. Food was good quality, but cold. Wasn’t worth it.
Service was great we ended up sitting at the bar since it was getting crowded. Patrick our bartender could not have been more sccomidating from cocktail as to our full lunch.
Disappointing was when we sat at the bar to lunch they cancelled our opentable reservation even after asking for high top bar table. Same menu same everything and we were just trying to accommodate the crowd they were having.
Even after discussing with the manager he pushed back. Not the level of customer service I expected but he finally did credit us for our reservation.
The Food is very delicious at this restaurant!! They were very busy due to the holiday week up here in Vermont. Our server, which I didn't catch his name, was very attentive to us. He told us that the bar was a little backed up so the drinks we ordered would take a little longer, which is nice when they tell you that instead of just making you wait unknowing what the delay is. He brought the drinks and our appetizers, mini pretzel bites and truffle fries. I have to eat gluten free so I could only have the fries which they cook in a dedicated fryer. They were delicious! The others at the table enjoyed the pretzels very much as well. We ordered cheeseburgers, as well as a fried chicken sandwich. Everything was wonderfully prepared and very tasty!
Food was excellent.
All that we ordered was well prepared and served.
Food was okay but overpriced
No Christmas dinner option
We enjoyed our dinner at the Copper Grouse very much. My husband’s tenderloin was cooked perfectly. It was very tender and tasty. My salmon dish was delicious, not your ordinary salmon. It was a thick cut of salmon with a nice light sauce. The accompanying veggies were great too! The Caesar salad was ok, though it had too much dressing on it. The bread, however, made up for it tenfold! Crunchy crust with a soft middle, served with extra fresh butter. This was worth ditching any low carb thoughts!
Ambience of the hotel restaurant was warm and active on Xmas eve. Service was attentive and friendly but we felt the quality of the food did not live up to the prices, which were pretty steep. For the most part, the 6 of us all felt our meals were under seasoned. I had the half roasted chicken that was tender but the skin was fleshy and under cooked and the turnip purée it sat on was a disappointment. It was grainy and under seasoned. The one stand out was the roasted Brussel sprouts appetizer, which was very well prepared and did enjoy the cozy outdoor fire pit after dinner.
Visiting Manchester and wanted to go back to Copper Grouse as we had enjoyed it so much the last time we visited with family. Was not as good as we remembered. It wasn't bad, it was just average. Waitress was very nice so that helps!
Food was good and the service was excellent and there is nothing better then sitting in Vermont on a cold winter night with a fireplace. Great ambiance.
it was fine .. loud crowd w lot's of kids. waitress was very average
During our vacation, we at many fine Manchester Restaurants, we wanted to try something more casual and Copper Grouse fit the bill. We were pleasantly surprised how energetic the restaurant felt. It was a rainy evening which would have prevented many people from going out to dinner, but this wasn't the case at the Copper Grouse. It's true that is within the Taconic Kimpton hotel, and perhaps there were guests from the hotel, but I didn't get that feeling. It seemed like many locals were enjoying their experience, like we did.
We started the Truffled flavored popcorn which went along with our cocktails and then had the Grouse Cheeseburger which was a winner and the sweet potato fries which were perfectly cooked. The next time we visit Manchester, Vermont we will be sure to come back.
Thank you so much sharing your experience with us at The Copper Grouse! We are so very pleased to hear that you had a delightful dining experience with us. We hope to see you soon! Happy Holidays.
Very good. Waitress was pleasant and engaging. Cedar plank salmon was excellent.
We are so very pleased to hear about your wonderful dining experience at The Copper Grouse. We hope to see you once again.
Thanksgiving dinner was great! Delicious foods and nice sized portions.
One of our all-time favorite restaurants! Food is always amazing...atmosphere is great and service is exceptional!
We had thanksgiving dinner there. We had a reservation for 7 but the meal had started at 1:30. By the time we got there the turkey was kind of dry and tired. My husband ordered a Manhattan and it came in a sherry glass. I had a martini and it came in a marie antoinette champagne glass. Obviously they ran out of fresh glasses but that was really tacky and they shorted the drinks. The waitress was very nice.
Overly expensive for what it was. $45 for an 8oz sirloin steak that was labeled a flat iron steak was excessive. We also ordered a 14oz New York strip that was $55 and was tough and came over creamed kale and diced potatoes for which the potatoes were diced so fine it was hard to tell they were potatoes.
We were surrounded by families with young children who were loud at times which took away from the ambiance and made the expensive price tag harder to swallow.
We also waited a pretty long time for our entrees and the restaurant was not crowded so not sure what the delay was attributable too.
Finally, the desserts were small and lackluster.
Had our original reservation at another restaurant not been cancelled due to an issue that restaurant was having, we wouldn’t have chosen this restaurant and now that we’ve eaten there and had the experience we had we probably won’t go back.
The ambiance is very cozy however, the food was just ok for the money. I had butternut squash bisque as a starter and honestly, it looked and tasted like puree'd baby food. I was quite taken a back by the consistency and flavor. As my main entree, I had a garden salad with grilled chicken which was not very large and quite expensive. If you are looking for a fun and upbeat environment with great drinks and energy then yes. If you are looking for a restaurant with a 5 star food experience, I would take a pass.
Service was extremely slow. Specialty drinks were not up to par compared to other restaurants in the area. We were disappointed
We started with the pretzel bites, beef tartare, and the New England clam chowder. The chowder was our favorite! My wife ordered the flat iron steak, which was amazing! I had the burger and fries which was good, but I was too stuffed to finish it. Overall the experience was a good one. Our waitress was ok. The meal came out to 150 including tip, a cocktail, and a ginger ale.
Very good food and service but lunch menu was very limited. Would only go back if there were more choices,,especially vegetarian.
Nice room with mix of high tops, tables and booths. Good menu if a little limited. Lamb shank and diver scallops were both excellent with decent portion size. Service was so-so. Prices ok for an upscale meal, not for everyday dining...
We appreciate sharing your dining experience with us. We hope to see you soon.
We stayed for 2 nights and had dinner here both nights and breakfast once. We signed up for the IHG card on chase and wanted to maximize the 40x IHG points in the first year. The food was good, it wasn't great. We found the burger and the breakfast sandwich to be very flavorful but obnoxiously buttery/oily - so much so that they were hard to handle, fell apart and were messy as hell. The scallops dish we had was very pricey for the amount and flavor experienced. The burrata was fantastic but the bread that came with it was underwhelming. Dry rub wings did their job.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Reviews such as yours provides valuable feedback to our culinary team in order to improve and enhance the quality of our menu. We hope that you enjoyed your stay, and we look forward to serving you at The Copper Grouse soon.
Staff was friendly and accommodated our request for a secluded table. Server was Amber who was pleasant and made us feel very relaxed and provided great service.
We think Amber is great as well! Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We hope to see you soon at The Copper Grouse.
Made a reservation a month in advance for a 50th birthday dinner for 7 people. When we arrived, we were led to a high top table in the kitchen. It was far larger than required for 7 people and was probably the table where they feed the staff at the end of a shift. The area was unsightly. There were napkins piled on one of the chairs at the table. The bread station was right behind one of our seats. When I asked what this table was, we were told it was the “chef’s special table.” We had NOT requested this table. It was extremely noisy, from the slamming of pans and breaking of glasses to the wait staff constantly moving around us, including to get bread baskets (grabbing the bread with their bare hands) and the music was unnecessarily loud for a restaurant. It was freezing cold - an a/c vent blew directly on us, perhaps to keep the kitchen staff cool. There was nothing “special” about this table, other than how bad it was. We asked the waitress if the chef would be sending out amuse-bouches or if there was a special chef’s menu available to us. She didn’t seem to know what that meant or why we were asking. One person asked to substitute one green vegetable for another green vegetable (that was readily available on the menu) and the waitress was put out by the request and said ‘well, there will be an extra charge for that.’ Really? For an entree that’s already overpriced, you’re upcharging us for an easy substitution? There was no contact with or special attention from the chef at our ‘chefs special table.’ Because we were out of the way and unseen by our waitress, it was difficult to get her attention. It took 20 minutes to get drinks. She didn’t clear the apps plates, she pushed them out of the way with our entrees. The food was fine but not worth the prices. The ambience and service put a damper on our celebration. We dined there a year ago same wkd and it was significantly better in every way. Hey Kimpton management, please fix this. We know you can do better.
Nice vibe, great food and cocktails
Used Copper Grouse 3 times in two days - best experience was nibbles and cocktails on the bar counter with Adam & Beth mixing the drinks!!
Good American hospitality - sadly becoming hard to find these days.
There really is no vegan option available if you want to go that route. Service was good, I would not have expected TVs in a high end (i.e. pricey) restaurant, but with the bar part of the restaurant I guess its unavoidable.
The food is exceptional, particularly the burger and the carrot bolognese. The service is excellent and we have eaten here several times while staying at the hotel. Highly recommend!
We were so happy with our visit to the Copper Grouse! Brunch was absolutely delicious (I had the apple butter french toast and my husband had the eggs benedict). The flavors were amazing! The ambience was gorgeous as well, with the cozy decor and the beautiful fall views out the window. Our server, Sheila, was so kind and attentive. We will surely be back! We've already recommended your restaurant to friends and family!
Overall pretty good, food was tasty but portions are small for the price. Nice setting and service.
Would def go back
I always like coming here. I live in the area.
Sometimes the service is slow, but I know everyone in Manchester/Dorset is short on help.
Molly is a gem. Keep her happy.
Was asked a suggestion for entree waitress suggested definitely get the rib eye special. No price was mentioned when reading it. It ended up being $60. This was nearly double any other entree.
Very shocked when we got the bill.
