David's Opus Ten

We didn’t know what to expect as this was our first time dining at any of Chef David’s restaurants, but as soon as we were guided towards the special dining room tucked out back, and I saw that open kitchen, I knew we were in for a treat. We sat at the chefs table / kitchen counter and had one of the most memorable experiences in a Portland restaurant. Chef David and his son Kyle worked together beautifully without having to say a word! My husband and I were mesmerized by the way they moved around in such small quarters. I can appreciate this immensely, as I am a private/personal chef, who never knows what kind of kitchen I’m walking into until I arrive.
Having Chef David serve each and every course to use was such a wonderfully detailed touch. He described each dish with passion, educating each guest he served. Although it was Restauarant week, and a lower price point than usual, Chef David still created a menu that absolutely wow’d us. It wasn’t just dinner, it was an entire culinary experience that all chefs can appreciate.
Often times you see chefs stressed out in the kitchen, irritated with one thing or another, bothered by guests or servers - but not here. Not one bit. He goes above and beyond to make sure his guests are happy, took time to chat and get to know my husband and I... we seriously felt like we had a private chef of our own for the night!
Service was great, cocktails were delicious and the wine pairing was on point.
I hope chef David and I can collaborate on a special menu someday like we chatted about. Anybody would be lucky to work next to such a kind and generous chef as himself.
So glad we got a reservation. Can’t wait to come back!
Food, service, and value for money was good.
I went there during mean restaurant week.
The noise level was surprisingly high. I think some sound deadening material in the ceiling other than a very thin curtain material might help. Thank you
Thank you for joining us during Maine Restaurant Week ( I hope mean restaurant week was a typo). That night because I commented several times to my co-workers how unusually loud it was! It is rarely an issue because we have a sound proofed entrance area. I also noticedI thought It was too loud also! Thanks again for joining us and we look forward to seeing you for another dinner in the future... hopefully a quiet one without any threat of corona virus! Thanks again and be safe
Some of the best food I have ever eaten. Each course was a delight.
Truly phenomenal experience that is certainly one of a kind in Portland. I went for the Maine Restaurant Week tasting menu and loved every plate. The wine pairings were excellent and pacing was on point. At the end of the tasting I was very full but the spacing over about three hours made the amount of food doable. Service was excellent and I felt spoiled. Worth the trip for sure!
Dining at Opus 10 is a magical experience ! Chef David always selects a wonderful menu. The presentation is Devine and the food delicious. It is a fantastic experience to look forward to for a very special evening.
An experience not to be missed - worth every penny. We recommend the wine pairing.
One of the best dining experiences i have ever had. We were fortunate to get the kitchen table and David himself was delightful. A superb experience.
A very special dining experience. Food was wonderful and the conversation with the chef was delightful.
A special evening with wonderful assortment of flavors and foods. All good
Intimate, inventive, warm. The service was excellent, the meal was a tasting but not too many courses so the portions were large enough to experience the dish. The courses came quickly though not rushed. The wine paring was very good. David was very available and we had opportunity to speak with him. Overall great experience.
Highlight of our trip to Portland. David was so gracious and the meal was fantastic. We will be back!
Totally outstanding! David & Libby were wonderful. The Chef’s Table upgrade was terrific!
Wonderful meal. Excellent service. Great value. David himself speaks with each table. Only wish Opus Ten did dinners year round. Very happy foodie
What an anazing meal and service. Each dish was breathtaking and the interactions with Chef David was delightful. First rate.
Outstanding meal. Everything was delicious and even foods I had not liked before were amazing the way they were prepared.
Incredible overall experience. Food rivals the best restaurants in NYC.
I'm in my late 60's and have worked abroad and here in the states. During the course of my travels I have eaten at some of the best restaurants in Europe and the states. David's Opus 10, is just that, a 10! Service was perfect and smartly timed, the food was sensational and kept getting better with each course, the wines were well chosen and dessert capped it off. David was at our table a couple of times throughout the evening to serve, describe and answer questions about what was being served. An extraordinary meal cooked and served by individuals who love what they do! Definitely coming back.
We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this experience. The servers and chef were personable and very good at their jobs. The food was outstanding and each course was timed perfectly. It was well worth every penny.
I wanted to give David’s Opus Ten 4-1/2 stars but Open Table doesn’t have 1/2 star. The food was very good and the presentation was lovely. The wine pairing was interesting and well chosen for each dish. The chef brought out the food to each table a few times and explained each dish. At the end, he came out and thanked everyone for coming. We had a nice evening. We would come back to David’s Opus Ten again the next time we are in Portland.
David is one damn talented chef. We talked with him throughout service.... excellent host. Loved it.
This experience was amazing! The flavors of the foods are indescribable. David is very humble for such a highly talented chef. He enjoys visiting this intimate group of 18 people and answering any questions.

Opus Ten dining was an exceptional experience. Chef David was so friendly and a pleasure to watch as he prepared a glorious meal.
This is the second year that we have come to Opus 10. We had an unbelievably great time. Food, cocktails, and paired wine were perfect. This is such a special expression for us!
All seven courses of our meal were absolutely outstanding. My favorite was the porcini mushroom with sage papardelle--SO delicious! We also loved the mini-breads served with each course. Because they were so small, we could try a little of each over the course of the evening without feeling stuffed by the end. The wine pairings were perfectly matched to each dish, and I was extremely pleased and grateful that the chef accommodated my dietary constraints (I'm pescatarian). David actually came out and chatted with us briefly, and his daughter was our server! The room was small and quiet (there were only 8 or 9 other couples there). We loved everything about our experience. Highly, highly recommended!!
Opus Ten has a short season and I can't recommend it enough... Chef David has created a seven-course culinary experience that's like no other I know of in Maine. The menu changes weekly and on the night we went it was impossible to pick a "winner" dish as they were all incredible. My daughter and I can't have gluten but that didn't stop Turin... we got a special menu as well as our own gluten-free bread service.
Incredible experience. Chef David was amazing and the service was perfect. I would encourage anyone coming to Portland to keep this restaurant on their list of top places to dine!
The 4 of us enjoyed every aspect of this 7 course prix-fixe meal of outstanding tastes, each better than the last! Menu items readily (and deliciously) adjusted to account for 1 person's dairy sensitivity. Our waitress was delightful, attentive, and knowledgeable. David personally delivered a couple of the courses and explained their ingredients. He also stopped to chat with us after the meal. Two of us did the wine pairings which were also excellent. Cannot recommend this unique and delicious experience enough!
Wow! We had an incredible experience here. We highly appreciated the staff calling to ask about food allergies. Everything was delicious and inventive. We tried lots of new food and thoroughly enjoyed it. The wine pairings were amazing and spot on. It was great to actually meet and talk to the chef. We loved the personalized attention. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. If you are lucky enough to see an open spot, take it, you won't regret it.
Great food, David was terrific in greeting all tables. About a 3 hour experience, never felt rushed or that we waited too long between courses. Met a nice couple next to us. Highly recommended.
This was an amazing dinner experience. We really enjoyed the quality of the overall dinner. The experience is definitely worth it!! We will try to get a reservation again next year if we can!
We do not do prefix menus ! But you must do this one if you get the chance. The culinary experience is outstanding, the venue comforting and the hospitality warm and welcoming. Very impressive !
It's really nice when the owner/chef is present and can answer your questions. One of our courses included a "frozen" vodka. The bottle was encased in ice and the vodka was even colder than the blueberry taste-treat over which it was poured. David poured the vodka and explained how he made this course.
Wow. We celebrated my husband's birthday with the seven course tasting menu during Maine's restaurant week. We both got a cocktail to enjoy with the phenomenal hors d'oeuvres they offered us and then had dinner with the wine pairing. Chef David came to introduce himself to everyone at the table at the end of the meal, which was a nice touch. The ambience of the room, set in the back of the larger David's Restaurant was beautifully decorated with an open kitchen so that we got to catch glimpses of the chefs at work. Thank you so much for the wonderful treat.
Dining at David’s Opus is a delight for the senses. From the presentation to the way the aromas greet you before the first bite of each new course to the unique flavor combinations that dance on the palate, it is not just a lovely meal, it is an experience. The wine pairings were perfectly complimentary. If you are looking for an extraordinary dining adventure, David’s Opus should be on your short list of choices.
This is a great experience for foodies. Go with friends as the pace is leisurely so you can have a really nice evening. All the courses were well prepared, the service was good, and the wine pairings were interesting. I particularly recommend doing the wine pairing as the courses are so varied that selecting a bottle that went with everything would be difficult, and if you order by the glass for each course it would be too much wine.
Awesome experience, sat at the chef's table, interacted with chef David, the food was amazing, the conversation was amazing, the ambiance was amazing, overall the best meal/experience i've had out in Portland, ME. I would absolutely recommend 10/10!
Do this. I promise it’ll be the best food of Portland and beyond.
The food was, as always, incredible. I don't like lamb, but it was one of the plates and it was outstanding. If David serves it, it will be good. Just try it. After 4 years, we will be returning for a fifth. When you find something this wonderful, just stick with it.

David's Opus Ten never disappoints! New Year's Eve's dinner was beyond amazing!! The food was delicious, the service was impeccable and the atmosphere was perfect. I am only sorry that I was so stuffed that I had to wait till the next morning to eat the dessert. Chef Turin never fails to amaze me and each dish was even better than the last. I can't wait until my next visit.
