My pasta entree was delicious. The waitstaff were cordial and welcoming. A very good place for an Old Town School pre-concert dinner.
Love it there!
We LOVE Due Lira, it’s one of the best restaurants in a neighborhood for of great restaurants. Every time we go, we ask ourselves, “why don’t we come here more often?”
We had a very nice meal in the patio with some delicious craft cocktails and food.
We thought the food was wonderful. Can't wait to try something new there.
Always great food!
This was our second visit to Due Lire. Once again, the appetizers did not disappoint (the polenta fries in the fritto were fried to perfection), and the drinks were delicious. I had the gnocchi and my boyfriend had the beef tenderloin special. The briny element of the artichoke in the gnocchi with the spicy sausage was amazing with the pillowy gnocchi. We had the cheesecake special for dessert, and the amaretto crust with the toasted Italian merengue on the top were special touches.
This little spot has quickly become our favorite Italian restaurant! From birthdays to date night, Due Lire is always a spot we consider for a fantastic Italian meal.
It was a wonderful evening to celebrate being with my daughters alongside Massimo, Kevin and Micah who always make the evening special providing outstanding customer service and a delicious meal!!
We have walked past Due Lire multiple times and never felt like we wanted to go outside of the comfort zone of our regular Italy restaurants. Then a friend suggested it for his birthday. We are glad he did.
From the friendly, skilled service to the variety of fresh pastas and entrees we were not disappointed.
The desserts were great especially the Nutella mousse crisp.
The space is small but not crowded.
We are definitely returning.
Great experience. Nice menu, good wine, beautiful outside patio.
Sat outside in the wonderful patio. Food and service were great.
Summer weather finally arrived in Chicago so we got to enjoy the beautiful patio (well at least until the rain arrived). Food was great, and wine recommendations from Massimo were fabulous. New summer menu items were a nice addition.
Good service. Delicious food. Wonderful evening.
I ordinarily do not write reviews but based on my dreadful dining experience I felt compelled to do so.
1) The noise level- is Awful! They need to do something to absorb or soften the noise! 2) The service was very poor and they did not have written specials and because of the noise level we could not hear the waiter. We were not even offered water to drink! After 20 minutes we had to flag down the waiter to order appetizers and the main course. 15-20 minutes later the appetizers came. We were in the restaurant 80 minutes or an hour and 20 minutes before our main course came. Adding insult to injury the waiter had a very bad arrogant attitude! It was a birthday celebration and we felt based on the lateness of everything - they could have at least comped us the birthday dessert or all of the desserts. Of course - NO! The whole bill including tax and tip was over $200 for 4 people. The only drinks we ordered was 2 bottles of Sparkling water. It was a birthday and an engagement celebration. It was a truly AWFUL experience and none of us will ever go back! I speak Italian and the owner is Italian and I heard him speaking Italian. Normally I would have spoken and exchanged some pleasantries in Italian with him but honestly the whole experience left truly a BAD TASTE in my mouth, so I declined to speak with him...
Wonderful restaurant. Its been a while since we were last there, but the food was excellent and atmosphere relaxing. Sit outside on the patio; it feels like Italy!
What a meal! Went with a larger group that ate family style. Was able to try 4 appetizers, 4 pastas, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. All were fabulous!
My husband’s lasagna was excelkent. It was a special. The spaghetti bolognese was way too salty. I could not finish it. We had appetuzers -I think it was polenta sticks, which were bland. The cheese balls had a delicious cheese.
We go at least once a year for our anniversary and they NEVER disappoint. Food is fantastic, service is always spot on, drinks, everything perfect. The artichoke, shrimp, calamari, capers, fried sage app is a must! Best Amish chicken in the city.
The food is always lovingly and expertly prepared. Modern, fresh, authentic but also familiar. Thank you to the family that always takes care of our family!
Food was very well prepared
We stopped by here after doing some shopping in Lincoln Square. They have a very nice patio in the back with nice landscaping and pretty lights. We had a delightful meal with great service. We will definitely be back.
We have been coming here for years, the pasta is always delicious, and the owner is a great guy!
All in all a really good place: fun, good food, great service, nice people. We encourage all to go there and to tell your friends to go there
The food was fantastic and our server knowledgeable and on point.
Awesome. Affordable. But a bit loud. And yet so worth it. Delicious. Friendly. Authentic. We will be back soon! Ciao!
very small portions, everything is extra (cost $5 just to get bread on the table, and a second iced tea cost $4). Food was good, not great. Place was mostly empty tables at 6:30 on a Friday night.
This a favorite neighborhood gem that I need to visit more often. The food is excellent. This visit we had the fritto to start...perfection. I had the short ribs and my parents the meatballs and pork chop. My drink of gin, blueberry, lemon and basil was glass of springtime on a wintry day. The pear dessert was a delightful ending to another fabulous due lire meal.
Delicious food, high quality house made pasta
The food was very good and service warm and friendly. It’s a very warm, cozy spot.
This is my most favorite restaurant in the city.
We just love this place
Food was delicious, sever was kind and knowledgeable, kitchen was able to accommodate allergy restrictions and atmosphere was intimate.
We dined here on a Friday night. The menu was relatively limited considering this is an Italian restaurant. The pasta dishes were quite good. Unfortunately my wife didn’t find anything on the menu that she wanted to eat so had a couple of sides. There was only a fish of the day that was white fish which she didn’t want. The desserts were excellent, however.
This was our second time here and it was as good, or better, than the first time. The service is gracious and the food is outstanding, as well as reasonably priced. The wine list has great choices and is also reasonable. We ate here before a show at the Old Town School down the street. If we lived in the area, we'd be regulars. We look forward to our next meal.
One of our favorites in Lincoln Square.
It was a wonderful place to celebrate my birthday!
Really good food. Good service. Way too noisy in restaurant. Need some sound dampening material. It was painful. Most of that was due to one particular customer who just yelled the whole time we were there but was not enjoyable ambiance. Also could not believe a glass of tea was $4 with no refills. At least tell people that. $12 for 3 glasses on bill is ridiculous.
We had a delicious meal...fish, pasta and risotto accompanied by a lovely white wine. Our service was excellent. Due Lire is a favorite for us and we highly recommend it.
I love the Italian food here; it never disappoints; from the fresh mozzarella and barata to the house-made pastas and sauces. The service is always friendly and warm.
The room is nice but the noise level is almost unbearable. Each time I've been customers are screaming to be heard - I complained but perhaps nothing can be done.
