El Basha - Park Ave
Staff did not seem able to handle the holiday (Valentines Day) crowd even though everyone who came in had already made a reservation. The staff were very apologetic, but that only enhanced the feeling of disappointment over the wait and the food. Too bad. It’s a highly recommended restaurant and I’m sure it’s lovely on a slower night. Don’t bother with the grape leaves dish, though.
Really went down hill food was all wet and sluggish, meat was all hard.
We found El Basha from Phantom Gourmet and are very happy we did! We wanted a restaurant with vegetarian options in close proximity to the colleges. From the minute we walked in we loved El Basha. We were cordially greeted and quickly seated at a quiet table tucked away from the wintry cold air of the entry. Service impeccable and a very varied menu. Enjoyed Guinness on tap! Everything was delicious from the grape leaves appetizer, pumpkin kibbie, to the combination kebab plate and finishing with the best baklava ever!
Everything was flavorful without being too spicy. We highly recommend El Basha and look forward to returning.
The food was delicious , reasonably priced. Our waitress was both attentive and very personable. Definitely will go back to try even more mid-east delights.
I can’t count the number of times we have eaten here, and each time has been wonderful.
We had dinner with friends. It was a nice experience. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive
The food was ecstatically good! Every single bite.
Upon entering the hostess on duty 7/20/2019, greeted me very poorly. I was waiting for a guest to join me, however she was not supposed to arrive until 6: 30. I was standing in cramped quarters between the door and her reception station when she just motioned for me to move and she said," I have to get in there". I stated my name under which the reservation was made. She proceeded to take me to my table. At that point I did not think she thought of asking if I wanted to go the bar, but that is a moot pointt. As she directed me to my table she said,"Why are you early?". I felt as though I should reply in the hagfish manner as she asked the question in that kind of tone. I demurred and said nothing. Then, I asked for a glass of wine which yielded an emphatic but defensive tone with response,"I don't do that. Your server will." This mean-spirited diva needs to get out of the industry. So it took forever to get the first glass and since my guest who did arrive on time at 6:30 I then knew that the waitress was deficient memory-wise when it took her probably 10 minutes to bring the wine nearly right before in that fifteen minute window between when I sat down and my guest arrived. The food as always was superb, but oddly enough the take-out came before the actual meal. Huh? I tipped the normal 20 percent for her because, she, unlike the hostess who was mean-spirited she did care but the second glass of wine took 20 minutes. I should have ordered a damn bottle at the rate she was going. Maybe since no pour had to occur until she came to the table things would have gone more rapidly than they had. Then it took forever to get the entrees. There is something to be said to ordering and sitting at the bar. Everything does arrive more rapidly, but I was not about to tell the hag hostess I did not want to appear to my guest as though I had been sitting there getting sloshed for a half-hour, but even that sounds as ridiculous as her question about why I was 15 minutes early.
Food was marginal at best. Seafood was terribly dry and kabob grill wasn’t very flavorful. We had high hopes, but were disappointed. On the bright side, the service was great.
I wnet to El Basha on a Saturday evening with a first date. There was an entertainer singing in the dining area. It was SO LOUD I could not hear my date speaking. Food was not bad, service was OK (not great.)
Came for a business dinner because one of our colleagues is vegetarian. The menu was extensive and catered to those who ate and didn’t eat meat. I had the lamb kabob for dinner and we had hummus and falafel for apps and it was all amazing. Portions were generous and everything was so flavorful. Will definitely go back
Great food and service!
Food and service were both excellent. Well worth the visit on any occasion.
Tremendous dinner. Waitperson was fabulous. There were 5 of us & she got the chef to increase the appetizer quantities from 4 to 5 so we had one of each. Will be back!
The food and service is always excellent. They have been providing a consistent product for years!
The Kibbee is simply the best!
Loved it. El Basha continues to be my favorite restaurant in Worcester! A local gem!!
We were a large group celebrating a birthday. The servers started out a bit slow, it took over 30 minutes for most of group to get drinks. As the evening progressed service or timeliness improved significantly. The servers were very knowledgeable about menu which was excellent. Food was really really good and portions were huge! Servers also took that extra step to bring dessert with candle and sing for the birthday celebration which was greatly appreciated.
Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely return and I know everyone else I was with would too.
Alda is a God send she turned a truly bad experience into a delightful night. Thanks again Alda for you kind hospitality and defusing a terrible situation. Gary and Lesa
Never didPpoints. Excellent food and service. They are all so considerate and kind. Love El Basha
Had a lovely meal with friends. Service was very good.
The food is simply delicious, we had 3 different meals and they were all excellent.
The Ful Medames appetizer was very tasty.
Our waitress was very professional and right on top of everything!
El Basha has been around a long time, and I'm happy to report that it is still the best place in central MA for great Middle Eastern food! If you love fresh hummus, stuffed grape leaves, kibbeh and kabobs, then this is the place to be. Flavorful, perfectly cooked meat and fish. Good wine list which includes several selections from Lebanon. The only weak spot was after dinner tea/coffee. My friend would have preferred a decaf/herbal option which was not available. My espresso was weak, and was served like an afterthought...the server brought it without a saucer or spoon and did not provide sugar or lemon. She left quickly, so I couldn't ask before the cup got cold. I would suggest that herbal (at least chamomile) tea be offered, and that if you are going to serve espresso, it should be served properly or not be offered at all.
As always, you remain our favorite spot to dine at and meet our friends!
Wonderful. We were visiting Worcester and were so delighted to discover El Basha we ate there four times in four days!
El Basha is my favorite restaurant any day for lunch, dinner, small group meetings or private parties but especially during restaurant week! We come whenever and think the food, ambiance and wait staff are fabulous!!!
Beef stroganoff was not the one, waiter was not able to explained menu, music was not relaxing or Mediterranean, it was rough and loud. My son left hungry, he was not able to eat beef stroganoff consisted of 70 present of cheep mushrooms, no sauce. It was strange item, we know what is beef stroganoff too bad that your cook does not
Outstanding service, delicious fare, ambient and quiet atmosphere.
The food was great and the service was even better! Thank you for making my father's birthday dinner one he'll remember!
Great Arabic food
Excellent vegan and non-vegan food
Everything was perfect. Christina was awesome, amazing, never had such a great service in my whole life. She made my date the mos beautiful date ever. I can't find the words to thank her about that night. Absolutely amazing.
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! Every single time!
Loved it! Please post my open table points for my two last visits! Thanks!
I also had a reservation for dinner on the 30th and kept it though you did not give me my 100 points. I called El Basha to report this but still have not seen my points. Please advise! Thanks!
Excellent as always. Never dissapoints.
Actually did not eat. Their integration with OpenTable is an issue, as we had a confirmed reservation and when we arrived stated that we didn't have one, and that we shouldn't use opentable. Wasted 40 min of drive time and looking for parking place.
We went two times during restaurant week! It was fabulous, delicious and creatively offered. It's terrific during the normal calendar times as well. Alda was so gracious and fun as our server!
The food is always excellent.
Service was very good.
The bar was extremely loud.
Be sure to make a reservation!
Valentine's Day dinner. Very nice. Full restaurant but not too noisy. Good meal and I would go there again.
Great food and space! Try not to sit near the door in the winter as it gets a bit cold :)
