Fabulous food and a VERY gracious staff!
Reservations reccommended because this is a very popular Portland restaurant
We enjoyed our meal with friends. The staff were very friendly, timely, and accommodating. Great night! The chicken souvlaki and the duck were delicious. Also enjoyed the complimentary fava dip and toast points to start off the meal. We'd definitely go back!
For Portland restaurant choice's I'd say middle of the road.
This place always surprises and exceeds expectations. It is our favorite restaurant in Portland.
I’ve dined here a handful of times and feel I don’t go enough. Every time I’ve been there it’s superb. A true hidden gem!
Our first visit and this is instantly among our very, very favorite restaurants in Maine. Food was wonderful. Introduction to Greek Wines was amazing. Service was excellent. We'll be back.
IMHO, this right up there with the best restaurants in Portland, e.g. Fore St.
The quality, prep and presentation are very high, even when we got the restaurant week " special".
And the drinks are just fabulous and unusual. I had a French 75 made with pear liqueur and it was outstanding.
I always recommend it and I wish I could go more often...many circumstances prevent me, but YOU should go!
One of the best dining experiences around. My wife and I went for a night out. The tables are a bit close together but the ambience is more on the romantic side so you don't notice as much.
My wife had lamb and I had a chicken dish. In addition we had a greek salad and scallop appetizer ahead of the meal. All of the dishes were outstanding. In addition the chef provided a small plate of one of the dipping sauces.
Overall a great atmosphere with outstanding food and service. Not really suitable restaurant for kids, nor did we see any there.
Rather underwhelming due to the quality of the main course. The appetizers and dessert were fabulous but our meals were bland as though they had forgotten the seasoning. This was very disappointing given the rave reviews we had read from Open Table and other sources. The wine was also just average or below and even less so for the price.
Either it was an off night for the chef or this restaurant still has some work ahead!
This attractive restaurant is known for it's lamb but I deviated this night and had the moussaka. It was good but I was not wild about the presentation and it was accompanied with a salad that was overdressed. The waiter was fair. We were going to the ballet and he was notified.Drinks took a long time coming. I could have used another glass of wine with dinner and my guests also had a request but he never came back to the table after serving until I flagged him at the end for the check. It won't stop my going back but we felt a bit neglected.
We went to Emilitsa’s on a Tuesday evening in February. The weather was absolutely terrible, so there wasn’t a huge crowd. Normally, it’s quite crowded, so make reservations early on. The food was outstanding! It’s a true Greek restaurant, not just owned by a Greek serving Continental cuisine. They even had some very nice Greek wines. My wife is 100% Greek, so for her to give it the thumbs up, it has to be very, very good. Met John the owner and had a nice conversation with him also. Very friendly place, great service, great food! Definitely worth the visit.
This is among the best restaurants in town. Food, ambiance and service are impeccable. We have been there many times and each and every time I would have given a 5 star rating. Highly recommended.
The staff honored our request for a quiet corner since one of us is hard of hearing. Our waitress was warm and helpful. The food, as usual, was delicious and beautifully presented. Emilitsa is one of our favorite places for a special night.
Second time here. One of our favorites, food, atmosphere and service are top notch.
Everything at emilitsa is a win. The food is outstanding, we especially loved the braised rabbit phyllo, the jalapeño dip, and the spanakopita. Our server was on point with the wine selections, and super confident in her recommendations. Can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. Will continue to be a loyal guest!!!
Good location for theater. Great service and good selection of wines,
Everything about this dinner was incredible. From the kitchen taste to the dessert, wonderful presentation, flavors and portion size. We had the duck and the the lamb loin chops, but my favorite part was probably the rabbit appetizer. The grain mustard-mythos beer reduction was like nothing I've ever tasted and I had a hard time controlling myself from literally licking the plate clean! I've been telling everyone about this place now. It's definitely a must when visiting Portland!
Very good attentive service. Food was good but for the price it was not special.
Attentive staff, knowledgeable about menu, impeccable service. Highly recommend to those wishing for Aegean fare.
Exquisite all around.
Rabbit appetizer was unique and absolutely delicious!
Wonderful food. Excellent service. Another great experience!
Awesome experience. Delicious food. I highly recommend the lamb!
This is the best Greek Restaurant short of traveling to Greece!
Excellent food and wine and choices. Would go back in a heartbeat!
Beautiful room, outstanding food, solicitous owner and great wine list. Best restaraunt in Portland
This place is our favorite place to eat. The prices are a bit high but well worth it. Every bite is like an explosion of flavor in your mouth. The waitstaff are professional and service is exceptional.
The restaurant was great and the staff was amazing! I would definitely go back again.
We love Emilitsa and come for special occasions and nights out. The food is always excellent, and our most recent visit was no exception. The one issue that we experienced was they were out of at least 2 entrees (we had a 6 pm reservation, so it wasn’t as though there had been a run on them beforehand). Our waiter failed to mention this until it was time to order. The menu is limited to begin with, so it is a bit of a challenge to be out of 2 key entrees.
Regardless, we had a wonderful night and the food we ended up ordering was delicious.
Have have been there many times and the food, service and overall experience is always UNBELIEVABLE
It is our favorite restaurant in Portland
We LOVED Emilitsa! Our waitress was amazing she knew the menu inside and out and gave amazing recommendations! The food was delicious and authentic and the ambiance was perfect for our anniversary. We will definitely be back again!
Always enjoy going to Emilitsa. The lamb special that both my wife and I ordered was delicious and service was very friendly, attentive and professional. Will definitely be coming back to this restaurant again soon
Superb food served in a warm, attentive atmosphere. It is our "go to" place whenever we are celebrating a special occasion and we are never disappointed!
Fantastic dinner! Everything was perfect, the decor, the vibe, and the food was amazing, even the cocktails. I can't say enough good things about the service, everyone had a smile and genuinely seemed to be enjoying their job. This was exactly the Portland dinner experience we were hoping for, I would go back in a second.
We've eaten at Emilitsa any number of times and they always deliver on a delightful dining experience. The food is delightfully presented with unique flavours and textures; ostensibly, the focus is Mediterranean with a focus on Greece, but the combination of Mediterranean spices and local ingredients is just spectacular. The ambience is calming, the service impeccable and the desert (dark chocolate greek yogurt cheesecake with fruit) was extraordinary. It's not a big place, so you are probably best served by a reservation, but it is so worth a little planning!
What a wonderful dinner! I had chicken livers - the best ever - and the lamb skewers over rice. Delicious. Absolutely delicious. My wife had the eggplant spread - amazing - and the moussaka. She raved about them. The cocktails were excellent and the wine paired wonderfully. We live two hours away, so don't get to enjoy this often enough, but we'll be back when we can!
One of the finest restaurants in Portland. They have a seasonal menu. While it is a small menu everything is well prepared and excellent. The wait staff is the best in town, ambiance is quaint and the noise level is low. You can actually have a conversation. Highly recommended.
Great meal but sad that owner was condescending to my daughter about charge for hot water honey and lemon for my sore throat
We brought out of state family to Emilitsa at the recommendation of a friend. The restaurant is small, and tastefully decorated. The waitress was extremely knowledgeable and eager to answer any questions as well as make recommendations about everything on the menu, including the wine. She was attentive without being overbearing. The chef sent out a sample of an appetizer that was delicious. We also ordered another to share. The entrees, especially the swordfish skewers, were fabulous. Fresh, succulent fish, fresh vegetables, and most especially, not over salted or enormous. The chocolate cheesecake was to die for. The cost was not cheap, but was right in line for the quality of food and service. A lovely experience!
I love Emilitsa. It's cozy, informal, and friendly. The food is delicious. My swordfish kebab was perfect - and it's not easy to cook swordfish properly on a skewer. Dips to start are yummy. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other things.
