Great experience, great service
Odd night off for any Francesca's staff. Always seem to be right where they need to be. Lots of waits this time around from initial greeting at the table, long wait for drinks, no bread (may have been watching out for my health) some food sold out at 7 PM . . . everything took a while to arrive. That said, always a great experience whether the staff is on or off. Most consistent chain or restaurants I have ever eaten in.
This was our 2nd time to this particular Francesca's . We sat in the back, very crowded tables, and a bit drafty by the door
Service was okay, we got our food way too quick after our appetizer,I felt a bit rushed. The risotto was the worse I've ever had, it was crunchy and not cooked very well, had some good flavor but couldn't get past the texture.
Great staff and food will definitely be back
We ordered a bottle of wine then we were asked immediately if we wanted to place our dinner order. We asked for a little time and our server graciously waited 15 minutes so we could enjoy a glass of wine. Then she came back and we ordered. Seriously our meals came in less than 5 minutes. If you are looking for a relaxing night out this is not the place. But our server was very nice and our meal was delicious.
Loved Francesca’s On the River! The food, the service and the ambiance are incredible. We look forward to returning.
Fun experience! Food was great!
We went on the 15th and it was still way over packed with extra tables for Valentines Day. We waited in the tiny check in area for 20 minutes past our reservation and then once crammed into a teeny table amongst a sea of tiny tables the water glasses we were served were filthy. We asked for new ones and were brought back more dirty glasses. We pushed on and ordered calamari for an appetizer. It came not even crisp. We decided to not order dinner at this point and go elsewhere. Felt like they were compromising service in order to pack in as many tables as possible. Disappointed.
Took my bride to Francesca’s on Saturday Feb 15th to celebrate Valentines Day (we rarely go on the 14th). Place was crowded at 6:30pm, but we got seated within 5 minutes. They seem to handle online reservations better than most. Place is tight and noisy, but it’s popular and lively, so that’s expected. Food was amazingly good! We split a cold and crisp Caesar salad (I love anchovies, my wife is repelled by them hahaha!).
I ordered a decent Mendoza (where else?) Malbec and she had an Italian Pinot Grigio. Dinner was salmon and calamari for me, while she ordered the ravioli. Both were excellent! For dessert we split a flourless chocolate cake with mint ice cream and a double espresso (a must for me). I’m not sure how Francesca’s manages to maintain such consistently high quality cuisine, but I’m not complaining. This is the “go to” family of restaurants for us!
Felt like a few too many tables for the space. Was ofter being bumped into by waitstaff, chairs and tables were bumped by feet/bodies. Not a calm, comfortable experience.
It was just ok. We were seated at a table squeezed in almost in the walkway between rooms so it was very busy and distracting. We all thought the food was not as good as we usually have at the Francesca chain. My salad had several brown lettuce leaves and my roasted chicken was way oversalted and was overpowered by rosemary flavor. My son had the special pasta ($24.95)and felt it overpriced for the modest size of the portion. We like our pasta al dente but My husband’s Rigatoni Norcia was really hard. Overall we were disappointed in our Valentine celebration.
Overbooked horribly for Valentine’s Day. Would have had to wait 45 minutes to an hour to be seated after our reservation time. Took my date somewhere else, we couldn’t even stand inside because there were so many reservations backed up
Busy, but they managed the situation well. We reserved for Valentine’s Day. When we arrived, the check in area was packed. We were worried our seating would be much later than our reservation. BUT, somehow the staff really kept it moving. We sat about 20 minutes after our reservation time. Not bad for Valentine’s Day! Food was great as always. Service was excellent. The staff was amazing to watch under this rush of people. Looks like they really planned well and had great teamwork. We will be back and recommend.
They took way to many reservations for Valentines Day. We had 8pm reservation, showed up on time, and they were still waiting to seat 7:00pm reservations. Waited until 8:30pm and there were so many people waiting to eat, there was line out the door. Something obviously wrong with their reservation system. We walked out at 8:30 and went somewhere else.
Restraunt was ridiculously overbooked. Arrived promptly on time for our 745 reservation and was met by a line of patrons waiting outside in sub zero temperatures. Many of the customers indicated they had reservations but were left waiting more than an hour. The inside of the restaraunt was full of couples waiting to be seated. The area near the front door was shoulder to shoulder and extended through the bar area. Once I navigated my way through the mass of bodies, I was greeted by an extremely rude hostess who indicated I may be seated by 815 or 830. When I asked how realistic that timeframe was she responded "I can't see into the future sir." Shame on Francesca's for managing their reservation book so poorly on a special night. We waited until 8 and asked for an update. We were told they had no idea when we would be seated. Will not be back.
For as Busy as it was on Valentine’s Day, they keep up with the service and food wasflying out of the kitchen
Probably wouldn’t do another Valentine’s Day there. Over crowded felt like I was constantly running into people or people were running into us while sitting. They crammed a lot of tables in. Food was good as always and our server was a sweetheart so were the women working behind the bar.
It’s expected to be busy on Valentines Day but having made a reservation a month in advance I was a little surprised still when we had to wait almost 45 minutes for our table where we could hardly move. They definitely overbooked themselves and should have been more accommodating to the people who were waiting well past their reservation times. We almost left. However, once we were finally seated we did have a good experience. We prefer the food to other Italian places in the area and there are vegetarian options!
We went on Valentine's Day and it was overly crowded. I think they overbooked tables. At any rate, it isn't usually as crowded. I won't go on another Valentine's Day, just too many people. We had a 6:45 reservation and at around 8:00. As for the food, which is usually great - the salad and my main entree were very over salted, almost to the point where you couldn't eat it.
Veal medallions best I’ve ever eaten. Service was great even on such a busy night.
I guess we should have been prepared for slow service since it was Valentine's Day, but we've been here several times on New Year's Eve and never had a problem. We sat in the crowded bar area, and our server didn't stop by for a long time. Then she took our drink order which also took unreasonably long. Our appetizer finally arrived, but they didn't bring bread, we had to ask for it. Then she took our order for entrees, and they literally came out in 2 minutes. My husband ordered an aperitif and usually gets wine with dinner, but barely had a sip of the first drink when the entree arrived. So the timing was all wrong.
I made a reso several weeks ahead, to celebrate a grandkid's 7th birthday and Valentine's Day. I made it for 6:30pm for 5, so daddy would have appel time to get there from work. When we arrived, it was festive in decor, but a nut-house of people!! I didn't anticipate this, and worried the kids (who are 5 and 7) couldn't handle a long wait time for our table. Not to be stressed, we only waited 10 minutes, and the host put us at a decent table in the back room, which was a level down in noise and craziness, which suited us perfect! The server did an ample job of meeting our order and needs. All went well, and I am super thankful. Thank you so much.
Our dinner was fabulous! Our server, Mary Beth did an outstanding job despite a very crowded
Didn’t feel too rushed even though it was a holiday, a little loud and packed but to be expected on a busy day. Great experience!
Because it was Valentines Day is was super busy. We were in the way back room which I never even knew existed. Our table was packed in with others right by us so tables were very close. However food was fabulous service was good except we had to ask for our bread three times before we got it. Being as busy as they were I was still happy with the dinner.
Normally have a great meal at this restaurant. Tonight they let crowd size take over the quality they normally serve. Tables were packed so close together that tables were joking we could share meals together. Our server was not attentive and lacked knowledge on the menu. I watched as many meals were brought to the wrong tables and runners were confused on which table ordered what. Pasta wasn’t even warm. At the end of my meal I received a bill that didn’t even belong to our table. Francesca’s is better when it sticks to its main dining room and doesn’t try to patrons when they can’t provide a consistent product.
Went for Valentine’s Day. Was a little overly packed- glad we had an early reservation. Everyone has hustling like crazy. Some items were good as always, some were not up to usual standards. Will go back- maybe just not for V-day
The restaurant was very crowded for Valentine's Day. Our entrees were delayed although the service was quite attentive. Our total check was "comped' which I appreciated very much.
The food was ok. Could have been seasoned more. Wine list was excellent. The best was the Calamari. Was excellent. The service was sub-par. Initially brought us the wrong meal. Waited a while for our food and was hard to get the attention of our server. It was Valentines Day night, so maybe the kitchen/waitstaff was over whelmed. I would give it another try.
Food and service were great, but the tables were packed in to accommodate all the Valentines date nights. Not much privacy and a bit noisy, but still a good spot.
Very crowded understandably because of Valentines Day. Service was good for how busy the servers were. One in our party of 4 had pasta that was hard (undercooked). Another had mushy pasta. One salad was sent back because it was the incorrect salad. I will probably return, but not on a holiday.
We have dined at Francesca’s in St. Charles many times, and have never been disappointed. We booked our Valentine’s Day dinner just 48 hours in advance, yet we were still able to get an early evening reservation. When we arrived the bar was full and several people were waiting for tables, however we were seated immediately. Our courteous and efficient server was quick to bring us wine and hot crusty bread fresh from the oven. Our salads were delicious, and the Veal Francesca was amazing- tender, lean, and flavorful! My wife ordered the Chicken Limone, is and was very happy with her choice. The restaurant was adequately staffed for such a busy night. The manager on duty checked in with us twice, and our bus boy was unfailing in his attentiveness. Overall we were once again very satisfied with our dining experience, and we look to our next visit to Francesca’s.
Great food, great welcoming staff top to bottom. It is loud but, we like that as well. You feel the energy and liveliness of the room.
Fantastic! Great service as usual. The food, bread, and wine never fails. Loved our evening.
Server was indifferent to us. Spent most of her time sitting with other costumers. Paid little attention to us. Food was not good. Had better there. But the service will keep me from coming back. Used to be my favorite restaurant. So dissenting
Always is great!

Our food and service was outstanding! Mary Beth is an awesome server! Thank you!
