We are frequent diners at Mia Francesca’s in Northbrook, but last Saturday night was not a good dinner experience. Our waiter was not a good communicator; He seemed to have a hard time understanding our requests. We asked for rigatoni for our daughter and penne came out. Our pasta was served with a spicy tomato sauce though we didn’t ask for that. She asked for the white chocolate gelato and she got vanilla. He did not follow up on water, and pop refills. He was a nice man, but not a good waiter.
Everything About this dinner was perfect. I had the special chickpea salad, Caesar salad and we both had the short rib ravioli. Outstanding pasta! We had the banana bread pudding and was the best dessert I have had in a long time in the city.
Seems to have fallen off a bit from its heyday in the prior decade.
always great place, food, service
Thank you very much!!!
got the spaghetti specials which were ok. continue to question the quality of service.
Our party of 4 enjoyed a fabulous New Year’s Eve dinner of goat cheese flat bread pizza, bruschetta, & crab cakes. The service was attentive and the food delicious. The atmosphere was festive. This was the second year that we spent New Year’s Eve here and were not disappointed.
So good. Amazing scallops and cesar salad!
I feel there are nicer Francesca's locations around... this one was worn and needs some love / attention. The food was fine, no real complaints. If choosing to go to Francesca's again I would choose another location from this one.
Best fish preparations in the area. Always fresh with great and unusual preparation. Enjoy seeing Dan when we visit. Great Host.
Sat near the k
Great food. Friendly server. Will go again
The food was excellent, as usual, but the service was not up to Francesca’s usual high standard.
I made reservations for myself for Christmas Day dinner abut two weeks prior. When I arrived on time I was told that there were only high tops available at the bar even though there were several empty tables on the floor. The hightop table was really not designed for a full meal even with one person. There are very narrow and sit right against the divider wall. My server was the bartender who tried but had quite a few people at the bar. I had the lobster bisque which wasn't bad but not spectacular. They had a lobster special with lobster and fettuccini which was totally tasteless. I mean I had to add salt and cheese to give it some taste. The little bit of lobster was tough and must have been frozen. The Ceaser salad was not a true Ceaser and had bottled dressing on top of lettuce with I think were peppers and a couple of croutons. Throughout my entire time there the dining room never filled up and there were several tables on the floor that I could have been sitting. So basically an expensive mediocre meal in an uncomfortable seat. I see no reason to go back.
Restaurant was overly loud and nothing authentic or fresh about the Italian food
So disappointing for our Christmas Eve dinner. Greeting at the door was non existent , waitress was very blah, but staff Dane once, good was lukewarm when it cane out- they replaced it but by then evening was done. Definitely will not hurry back!
The food was awesome, as was the service and every other aspect of visiting this Francesca's restaurant. My husband and I have been to many of the Francesca's restaurants but this might be my new favorite. We got there early and they were able to seat us when we arrived. The food was excellent as always. I have never been disappointed by the food at any of their restaurants, the food we had on Monday night was absolutely divine. I had the Barramundi Zafferano which was outstanding, my husband had the Pollo Ricore which was also very delicious. The service was excellent and being that it was a Monday, we were also able to bring our own wine and on Mondays there is no corkage fee! We were very pleased with our dining experience and will be back again soon. The restaurant has an inviting feel to it and that made the whole evening very enjoyable.
Please take this review seriously. We have been frequenting Francesca's for well over 15 years. Our main location is Francesca's North, in Northbrook IL. We also go to Intimo and Chestnut of Michigan avenue. We have never been disappointed. The service is always top notch and the food is always excellent and full of great flavors. We even had our daughters's Christening and First communion parties at your establishment as well. We always invite guests and always refer people to your restaurants.
Lastly we want to to give the utmost recondition to your manager Ed Hueke. He is so friendly and personable, and always makes you feel welcomed, like your at home. He has an awesome personality and is always cherry and merry. My kind of guy for sure if i owned a restaurant.
Thank you for your review Aldo - you and Gizelle and the Lovely one are wonderful people that deserve to be greeted and feted in the most gracious, kind and conscientious manner every time. You are always welcome! Ed Huelke General Manager cell 312.965.8965
1st time coming to this place for lunch, I really enjoyed it.
I would just remind them that the restaurant is noisy. Our waiter was almost surly, and we had to ask twice for more bread with our mussels. It was finally brought by someone who was not our waiter.
Overpriced. No atmosphere in second room. Noisy.
We had a delicious meal! Apps, main course, and dessert were great! Highly recommend!
The best Italian restaurant in the suburbs bar none! Don't hesitate to make your reservation here.
It’s a real neighborhood gem. Food is always good and service is friendly and attentive. Never been disappointed.
Hadn't eaten there in two years. Menu choices have been greatly reduced. Beef with rigatoni very disappointing; sauce was bland; looked and tasted like Campbells Tomato Soup. Whitefish was soggy and overcooked. Mussels appetizer had smaller than average shell fish which had been boiled too long, sauce was ok but very bland.
We were greeted with a smile and seated promptly. The food was delicious. Lovely dining experience.
Very popular and thus more than a bit noisy. Food is quite good...as is the service.
Prices are above moderate and so no bargain to be sure. Would go there again on
special occasions....but not an everyday place since the food is rich and the prices
are equal to the task.
We’ve dined her countless times. With the menu always rotating it provides nice choices. However this time, the dish I had just didn’t rise to level I’d expect. Had I been at Olive Garden, expectations would have been met.
Not for Thanksgiving. Too bright with a sad empty feeling. Food was too greasy and heavy on acids. Gravy for turkey eaters was disgusting. Italian dishes were uninspired and smelling alcohol on our servers breath was disappointing. No one enjoyed their meal but wine was ok. Not a fan and will not return.
Nice atmosphere and clean seating. The Rissotto and the Butternut Squash Gnocchi were fantastic! Priced right and satisfying.
Francescas is one of my go to locations for great Italian food.
Francesca’s was good, but two of four entrees fell short of expectations, and the calamari was underwhelming, and a bit chewier than typical at other similar restaurants. The fish special was expertly prepared and well enjoyed, as was the half chicken. The beef tips and pork shoulder did not measure up to similar dishes ordered by members of our party on other occasions at other restaurants.
Service was attentive, and the atmosphere was very pleasant, it would have just been better if the quality of preparation had been more consistent. Management is clearly interested in assuring satisfaction, so it is probably worth giving it a try if you are in the neighborhood.
We are regulars, and happily so. Staff is a well-oiled machine and very welcoming. Great place.
Love this place. Such great pasta and salads. Big winner
Ladies night out for dinner. All special requests were granted. We cautiously asked fort separate checks and were accommodated! Food was great and ample. Everyone took home their leftovers!
Great food! Great Service!
If I lived closer I would be here once a week.
Francesca’s North is consistently very good. The food delicious and always fresh and hot. That is not the case in many restaurants. It is rather expensive. That aside, we do love the restaurant.
Overall I like this restaurant. This time the pasta was very rich even though we asked for tomato olive oil it was a vodka sauce consistency. When are you going to get the fancy bing or luxardo cherries back? Don’t be so cheap at the bar
