Francesca's on Chestnut
Excellent service and food. They accommodated us in getting us out in time for theater.
We love this place. We celebrate birthdays and anniversaries here. My family was visiting from Connecticut and they loved it too.The staff can’t do enough for you!
I really appreciate that this is a conversation-friendly location tucked away off North Michigan Ave. The food and service is always top notch.
Excellent food in an old world traditional setting. An exceptional wine list priced for value.
The service was excellent, our waiter we Jaime, very attentive but not overbearing. The food was amazing! Delicious tastes and we had a variety of dishes. The pork chops are fabulous, cooked perfect and pleasant to taste. The roasted half chicken was amazing, honestly have never had better anywhere. The mussels as an appetizer were plentiful and cooked just right. Caesar salad, I know I know, but it really good! I highly recommend this location.
It was so delicious and beautiful. They sat us in the wine cellar in the basement. It was beyond romantic.
Every time we eat at Francesca’s, we are never disappointed. The staff, the food and the setting is always perfect. I can’t say enough about this neighborhood gem. The new downstairs with its flat screen tv and newly renovated space is just perfect for watching a game or hosting a dinner or party. This restaurant really has it all.
Food was just ok. Best thing we ate was the calamari and the pistachio gelato dessert. Asparagus soup was bland. Our meals were just ok
Very nice place for a nice meal out. Some dishes a bit pricey. Most of all for an Italian Restaurant they had a very limited menu including pastas. Did offer Filet Migon, and good appetizers. Served dessert as well. Would have loved to have had Veal Marsala, but there were no veal or pork dishes on the menu. Some chicken choices offered. Excellent service!
Nice brunch menu, good food and service. Lots of choices and good value
Had the scallop special with corn- truly decadent. Others really enjoyed the "cold sauce" spaghetti and the seafood linguini with pesto. The Wedge salad was also delicious. Would go back in a heartbeat!
Great restaurant with fair prices. It's good for date night or families. They have always been very good to me and my family when I visit Chicago.
Great Lunch! The server was attentive without being overbearing. I was able to have a productive business meeting.
Food was excellent. Probably one of the best meals of our trip.
But you did give me a scare as I was taking clients to brunch and the place was dark and locked up when we arrived at 10:25!
I don't know what an "energetic" noise level is. To call it for what it is it's dam loud when the restaurant is full.
It was my 50th birthday and my son and I flew up from Phoenix to see Hamilton and have a nice dinner. Francesca’s never disappoints. Our service by Jorge was top notch and the manger Joe ensured everything was perfect.
Nice neighborhood restaurant. Food & service was good. Drinks were on the weaker side but overall nice experience
A delightful evening
Delicious dinner and drinks!!
Service great, never pushing us!!!
Probably spoiled by the Francescas on Bryn Mawr which i go to almost once a week, the latter is very warm and welcoming. This chestnut location is quite a bit larger and impersonal and even though the menu is the same, the food wasn’t cooked as carefully.
Consistently good food and service. A regular go to while in town. Eggplant Parmesan made to order is one I would ask for.
We had the Chicken Parmesan. Hands down one of the best if not the best in the city!
Great food, attentive, personal service. Great job, see you again soon.
I went there with my son who is in a wheelchair and they were very accommodating. I have food allergies and they prepared my food accordingly. great food and service.
My special request on Open Table for a quiet area as I had elderly guests with hearing challenges was graciously honored. Excellent customer service and delicious food!
Lunch reservation at 1:30, restaurant still very busy, including two large parties. And only one waiter. So blame for poor service goes to the manager. But in addition, the waiter was easily distracted, kept talking with one exiting party and wasn't paying attention to any other table, including the large parties and us. The manager knew the situation but did nothing to help serve. Very disappointing experience.
My almost two year old and I had a wonderful dining experience! Several helpful waiters and delicious food made it an enjoyable night!
Great food. Our waiter was very attentive and love the ambiance of this location.
Always very accommodating to special requests. Great service overall and delicious sauces!
Definitely better Italian restaurants in Chicago. Service was rushed and impersonal. For what we paid, it was worth it, but not needing to visit again.
We always's enjoy Francesca's on Taylor. We make a point of staying in hotels within walking distance. The neighborhood is enjoyable. The building is handsome. The food and service are always outstanding. We often eat dinner early, around 5:30. At that time the restaurant is quiet and romantic. When eating during prime time, Francesca's on Taylor is the typical bustling Italian restaurant. Later in the evening, it quiets down again. We have always enjoyed our dinners and our nights out at Francesca's. We always leave satisfied and happy.
Great food, great service and great value!
I’ll be back!
Wonderful experience for our big group. Made Mom and out of town family feel special. Great value & excellent food!
Great cocktails and my pasta entree was good but not great. Salmon farfalle needed more seasoning or flavor. The dining room had somewhat of a musty smell when you walked in too.
Great Italian food and personal service just around the corner from Water Tower Place. Highly recommend
On this occasion it was too noisy and not enough waiters .But the food is excellent
one of the best Italian restaurants in Chicago. the freshness of the cuisine. and the pace of service
I really enjoyed every aspect of my meal.
We got off to a slightly slow start (for the waiter to take our drink orders but the service that followed more than made up for it. We were not rushed and so were able to enjoy the lovely environment. It's great to have a place where you can relax and dress somewhat casually.
We enjoyed our meals. My filet was cooked to perfection, as was my sister's pasta. The sides were very good, too. Deserts (Tiramasu and Chocolate Mint Gelato) - Yummy!
We will definitely be back yet again.
We enjoyed our dinner. Mussels appetizer was good but mussels were too small. My pasta dish was very tasty with shellfish cooked nicely. Pasta a bit soft but I’m fine with that. My wife’s salmon was cooked just the way she requested. Won’t be the best Italian in the city but solid and good for the money.
Food and service were great; was a busy place so was a bit loud.
