Francesca's on Chestnut
Pasta arrived cool to lukewarm, but definitely not hot, which it should have been. Francesca's is a good standby but have been a bit disappointed by food the past couple of times.
We easily booked a reservation 20 minutes before our arrival. Our food was simple and fantastic!
Four of us ate in the wine cellar for the first time. It is a lovely environment. The service was very good. All four of us were very pleased with our meals. I had a salmon preparation that was unlike anything I’ve had before, including a sort of relish with avocado in it. It sounded strange, but I ordered it on the waitress’s recommendation. That was about a week ago and I still think it was the best salmon I’ve ever had in a restaurant
The food was excellent. Salads are outstanding! Will go back before we leave Chicago!
It’s one of our favorite places in our neighborhood. Consistently great food, ambience, servers, etc. and to top it off the Mango dessert.
Love Francesca's but wondering why I would not get points for open table reservation?
Francesca has the very very best gnocchi in town
When ever it’s on the menu I am there
Great food!. One of our favorite local Italian restaurants!
Exceptional red sauce with seafood and pasta.
Steaks over cooked, no steak sauce available, special pasta of the day was a congealed lump of stuck together flat noodles with crumbles of sausage,a few cherry tomatoes and a few bits of asparagus dumped on top. The server barely spoke English and only once came by to check. The quality of this particular Francesca’s has declined rapidly. We will not go there again.
A neighborhood jem! . I eat here all the time. My friends and family like it as much as I do which is why we frequently eat here. The service and food are always amazing. The friendly and professional managers are always over seeing the restaurant making sure things are perfect...and they are. I highly recommend this restaurant...you’ll be happy to have taken my advice. :0)
We had a wonderful before-theatre meal at Francesca's. The restaurant is always a pleasure, with a wonderful atmosphere and great food. We shared an appetizer of prosciutto, artichoke, and ricotta, which was excellent. Our entrees were also very good--Amish Chicken, and Tilapia in Brodetto with scallops and mussels. While the tilapia was a tad overcooked, the entree was excellent in general and a wonderful combination of seafood. We shared a dessert of profiteroles, which are always a pleasure. The service was excellent, very attentive yet discreet. The location of this restaurant is such a draw, as it is close to the theaters and shopping of the Mag Mile. Really a delightful experience, which we will look forward to repeating. Thank you, Francesca's!
I always try and grab dinner at Francesca’s when I am in Chicago for work. One of my favorite spots. I love that they change their menu and offer new pastas and dishes, they are all delicious! Can’t say enough about this restaurant.
Lovely restaurant- great location- excellent and friendly service. This was my first time in Chicago and my first meal - a very positive introduction to Chicago.
We sat upstairs where there were two huge parties. The people at both parties were really intoxicated and the waiters were more concerned about what they wanted then what we wanted. We had to sit there and wait and wait and wait for the waiter to even come and see if we liked our food or if we needed anything else. We also had to wait and wait to be asked if we wanted dessert and finally a waiter from downstairs saw us sitting there and he came upstairs and offered us some dessert. The noise level was off the charts upstairs. I also think they should have some just basic Italian dishes like a regular spaghetti with a marinara sauce or spaghetti with a meat sauce. And possibly lasagna or even eggplant.
Very disappointing. We were seated upstairs and it was hot up there. We kept asking them to please turn some air on. Then the ceiling light by our table went out and we couldn't see. They fixed that and said the light fixture is sensitive. Most importantly, the food. All of our meals came cool to lukewarm and had to be sent back to the kitchen. The salmon came back ok because it was ordered rare, but the chicken was tough and the pasta was ruined. I used to love this restaurant, haven't been for a while, and won't be going back.
It pains me to write this, because Francesca's on Chestnut has long been my neighborhood favorite, but it's off my list. I brought an out-of-town friend, a former Chicagoan who loved the original Mia Francesca. The food was not great - Roasted Cauliflower (bland) and Buratta special (hard, dried figs instead of fig jam, too-thick prosciutto) to start, Lobster Ravioli (overly-salted) special and Quattro Stagioni Pizze (doughy crust) for mains. I ordered a cocktail upon arrival and my companion, a glass of wine. I told the server I might like a glass of wine with my entree, but he never returned to the table after apps were dropped so I never got one. The service is rushed - please don't clear my plate while my companion is still eating - and they clearly want to turn tables as quickly as possible. All in all, this was disappointing, and there are a lot of better choices in the area.
Very good food at a very reasonable price along with excellent service.
Although I’ve always enjoyed Francesca’s in the past, I didn’t enjoy the Risotto Primavera. Perhaps I’ll order a different entree next time.
I had dinner with a great friend of mine for the first time in 40 years. Francesca's was the perfect setting for us. Food was excellent as well as the service. I asked our server if the chef would make a special request. The chef did not disappoint. It was wonderful! Thank you to all for making our evening perfect!
The noise level here is awful. The food is excellent.... but it is dimished by poor acustics.... sound deadining could be installed in the walls & ceiling.... please!
Very gracious with us as our group continued to grow as fellow conference attendees got out of sessions and came to join us....additional places were set with a smile and yet another separate check added with graciousness . As the native Chicagoan I was not surprised but the guests from New York , Texas, and New Jersey were speechless. The hostess and our waiter deserved a badge of honor. Pasta fresh and perfectly seasoned
We are sad to see there brunch
Drink offerings leave the menu
It was our go to for fun boozy brunch
With Bloody Mary bar & bottomless mimosas
We’ll have to find another Place!
Assistant General Manager, Joe D'Alesio, and his staff were excellent. We met our niece and nephew in from Kansas City for the weekend and had brunch at Francesca's. We've always enjoyed Francesca's and our usual haunt is in suburbs at The Promenade in Bolingbrook. Francesca's has always been consistently good which is often a rare thing to find. Joe was most hospitable and surprised us with a Tirimisu for dessert. Thanks, Joe, for a lovely luncheon! We hope to see you again.
This is amazing best part was being able to go downstairs into the speak easy! But Francesca's never disappoints :)
Nice restaurant, good location. Food was not that impressive.
Great service, very good food. Will definitely go back.
Three adults, two children, table ready when we arrived at 6:30pm, service prompt but not hurried, food first rate, and very reasonable prices. From Naperville to Elmhurst to Wrigleyville-- only excellent meals at every Francesca restaurant.
Great spot to enjoy dinner. Ambiance was awesome and pasta was great!!
Great service. Knowledgeable staff. They were very patient. Had to accommodate changing reservations, which they did with patience and kindness
We had an excellent lunch at Francesca's. The food and service were both excellent, and it was a good value for the money. We will certainly be back!
Another nice meal at Francesca's. We were disappointed on the table that we were seated at this evening. We arrived early evening with a reservation and were seated next to a long reserved table for 20 or more. The restaurant was very open when we arrived. Thirty minutes after we were seated, the large party came and sat at the table next to us. Although they were nice, it was so loud that we could hardly have a conversation among the three of us. I wonder why we were not placed at a table far from them when we arrived - as the restaurant was totally open at that time. Have dined here numerous times in the past year.
As always the food was delicious and the staff was friendly.
Food and service were excellent as always. Thank you.
Was a wonderful surprise during our trip to Chicago! Great food, great service, just a 5-star restaurant overall.
We happened to go to Francesca's twice on a Saturday. For a late lunch, the restaurant was like a quiet, but not uncomfortably so, oasis. For lunch, it seemed like a great place to catch-up in a casual atmosphere. Our servers were fantastic. For dinner, the restaurant was buzzing, but not too loud. Our groups had pizza, salads, salmon, carpaccio, tuna tartare....it was all delicious. I'm sure I will likely return when I am in Chicago.
Oskar gave excellent service. He and his assistant Maria were attentive and professional. I appreciated the way they interacted with me and answered all of the questions my kids asked about the menu.
Overall we had a fantastic time ! Our table was immediately ready when we got there, the server was very attentive and the food was very good! They even brought dessert for the two birthdays that we were celebrating at no charge!
very good at what they do, I highly recommend the seafood linguine with a Parmesan cheese and shrimp. Very good!!
