Fun food and drink choices, great ambience and service. We loved it and will be back soon!
It was fine. Food was very good on this visit. Service could be more sincere, hospitality came from the support staff. Initially the engagement of the the reception desk was awkward. Staff stood around looking at us, including the chef. Not a welcoming experience. The level of consistency very from visit to visit.
Love Fred’s always! always just wish it was a bit more crowded so I don’t feel like I’m the only one there.
This is usually my go to spot for everything good about dining out. Unfortunately, this last visit was a nightmare. I made reservations on a Sunday for 4pm without knowing that they close at 5pm. Maybe I should have checked the hours myself or maybe I should have been alerted when I made the reservation, who knows. Our server who was obviously ready to go home for the day was rude and pushy. She rushed to take our order without even offering any kind of instructions or pleasantries. The only thing she consistently did was remind us that the kitchen was closing. We asked for drinks, she said the bar was closed. We asked for dessert, she said the kitchen was closed. The food still came out cold and tasteless. It was clearly a rushed job. I understand there is a closing time for everything but the way she treated us was terrible. I’m not sure if this was my last time going or not but I’ll definitely never go anywhere near closing time.
Great place to dine. Beautiful view of the city from the rooftop patio. Good portions. Friendly staff.
Clarence, really is the best bartender anywhere. We always have a great time talking and drinking with him. Dinner was excellent too.
We had a wonderful time. It was exactly what we expected.
Best casual restaurant in chicago with great interior and outside view
Pushy and interruptive server, a dog came through the restaurant and mobs of loud people exchanging between tables - Like being trapped in a cage in the middle of a Kardashian house party. Pretty funny overall , but I did used to enjoy coming to Fred's. Will come back, but to sit outside for a casual breakfast - Not to celebrate anything with people I care about. The hostesses were very kind and the front of house manager was delightful and attentive.
Nice, relaxing paced brunch- friendly service -some interesting specials
One of our favorite neighborhood spots. Always delicious and great service.
Went for a “first date” and it was perfect. The menu really caters to most diets and the service was great! Will definitely be back....hopefully with the same date!
Love this restaurant- the ambience, the service, great chef!!
I love this place! Great views! FRiendly service! Great food!
We were just surprised they closed so early. We would have preferred to stay longer.
Would definitely recommend and looking forward to returning. The food was amazing. Loved the view and ambiance.
Enjoyed our lunch at Freds this week. There were 4 adults and one toddler. Our server, Monica went out of her way to ensure we had a good experience and did everything possible to accommodate us with an active youngster. Food was very good, service was outstanding.
Will recommend Freds to friends. A big thank you to Monica!
The lobster pasta had very little flavor.
My wife and I have had lunch there on two occasions and dinner this most recent time. We have always found the food to be very tasty, priced reasonably, and the entire experience very pleasant.
Frankly, we should go there more often.
Service is perfect, but no surprise on food and my steak is over cooked.
The server was phenomenal....knew about pacing the evening and remembered all our preferences!
Ambiance and cuisine are outstanding. The service was impeccable...per usual.
I paid $35 for a burger that I’ll only remember because it was one of the worst burgers. What a joke- a pretentious place for people to escape to if you’re living in the Gold Coast
Our Waitress was super busy and for that reason we got poor service. She never checked on our table after taking our order, and we had to wave her down every time we needed something. I had to ask the buss boy for coffee after sitting at the table for 15-20 minutes. Poor service, food was ok. There are much better places where I can pay $25 for a burger and get better service. It's ok to charge what you charge for food, but at least offer the service to go with it.
Good food. Good venue. Empty restaurant. Don’t understand how this place is still in business. It seems to always be empty.
Food was good. Drinks were a bit average. Service was excellent and attentive. Nice ambiance and view.
Elegant and simple and allows for great conversation.
1. We went there for birthday. We got nada treatment. Then what’s the point? True disappointment if you are celebrating a special occasion.
2. Hostess was just careless. The hostess didn’t seem like to want to host me at all.
3. Waiter has a whole lot of attitude. He couldn’t even bother to bring us the second drink that we asked for. We specifically asked but nope.
4. Environment was nice.
5. Food was average.
Overall, if I would to choose, definitely not again.
It is always nice eating here. Good food, good service, good price, good ambience.
Had a lovely lunch for restaurant week. Only snag was my dining companion has a peanut allergy. We told our server but our white fish was still served with a pistachio garnish. Our server quickly remedied the situation butit did put a wrench in the overall dining experience.
This is my 3rd visit to Fred's. The first 2 were excellent. Great food and service, and based on that, I took my husband there for his birthday . This last visit was so disappointing. My husband's soup arrived warm and had to be sent back. My order went back because it was not cooked properly the first time, and when it came back the second time, it was still not right, but at that point, I was done. I had indicated on Open table that we were there to celebrate a birthday but it was not mentioned. We did order dessert but they were out of what we ordered so they did comp the dessert. The manager was very nice when she took our food back, but I didn't raise my concerns with her because I did not want to get the server in trouble. It was obviously a bad day in the kitchen and did not represent what we had in past visits, so I don't know what happened that day.
We’ve enjoyed lunch several times so thought we’d try dinner. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. Service was fair, food was just ok, and there was a family with several small kids- screaming through dinner.
The manager didn’t seem to be able to do anything - though when we were leaving she said she had to ask security to ask them to leave. Very weird.
She should have at least bought us a round of drinks
Won’t be rushing back...
It was great! We came in for the Restaurant week special. The burrata and zucchini chips were amazing. I have the rigatoni bolongse and the sauce and meat were well seasoned. After that course I was full and brought my dessert home.
Great brunch menu and excellent service. Will be back here.
Atop Barneys at Oak & Rush, this very intimate, quite bar/restaurant is impressive. great for conversation, attentive but not invasive service, wonderful cocktails, appetizers (vegan soup), gluten free pizzas available. small yet perfect menu for all. personally, i found it "gold coast-y expensive" yet, for a special meal, it was perfect. great for an EARLY date night as they close at 7. i also understand, in season, their terrace is a delight. great people watching - in the retail section and outside! enjoy the bartender, Clarence! a rare find!
Excellent experience. Great food and service!! Wonderful menu with great selections. It was difficult to decide what option to try. Highly recommend!!
Great food, great service, cozy and elegant atmosphere.
We were celebrating a birthday and enjoyed our experience at Fred's very much. The food and service were excellent.
