Pureed garbanzo bean, tahini and olive oil blended into a smooth, savory dip
Lamb Shish Wrap
Grilled tender lamb kebab with tomato, lettuce and tahini sauce wrapped in lavash bread
Hummus, baba ghanoush, dolma, tabouli, lettuce and tomato wrapped in lavash bread
The beet salad was good but the entrees - moussaka and aubergine veg dish were tasteless. Spoilt the experience and a waste of money.
Galata is consistently good. We have been going for years and can always depend on good quality food at a fair price. Highly recommend
Great dinner with a few friends. The restaurant is clean and the food is fresh. They have healthy food to boost your immune system, during this covid-19 outbreak. This is a great establishment and we are grateful for their good food and service.
We have eaten at Galata many times. It serves consistently good Middle Eastern food in an atmosphere that is welcoming for families. The sidewalk patio is a great place to get lunch on a nice day.
This was my 2nd visit to Galata Bistro. The octupus -salad I had was out of the world-- I dreamt about it until last weekend when I went there again thinking I would get the same quality. The octupus was the WORST I've ever had. Not the same dish at all; it was an embarassment as I had taken some foodie friends there for lunch. Good thing they didn't order the same. The other items--wraps were just OK. Inconsistency is not a good thing for a restaurant! Although I commend the staff for giving me the table I had--right under the skylight, their attention somewhat "saved" the day. Not to bad-mouth the restaurant, but if you do order the octupus --you're taking a HUGE risk, then you might be lucky, & get that dish I had in December???
Group of 28 people for lunch and they did a great job. Food was good and on time.
Great place to have lunch or dinner. Food is always consistently good. Service is also always good. Thank you
All five enjoyed the meal, have had better mussaka, though.
We love Galata and the variety of its menu. The food is consistently excellent, surpassed only by the attentive and professional service by Daria.
Good place to eat
Server seemed to busy to really engage. And that’s in spite of fact restaurant was 60% empty. I dread to imagine the service with a full house.
I mentioned “birthday” in the reservation notes. They were oblivious to that. Zero acknowledgement. How disappointing.
In general, everyone there needed to go to charm school. The food was awesome, but I am looking for THAT restaurant that cares a little more.
Friends of mine seem to prefer this restaurant for lunch, but I was there for a Saturday night dinner. The menu is quite varied and the food is a good value. I ranked low on ambiance because it was so COLD. We moved from a table near the door to one further away, but the draft followed us and we had to wear our coats through dinner.
Octopus was made to perfection. Attentive service and would definitely come back again.
Best mediterranean food on the Peninsula: Gyros anf Kebab turned to fine dining
Delicious as always
Food was ok except for the ground meat kabobs - very dry.
Nice location and good service though.
Food was ok but nothing special. Service was brusque. Lots of more interesting options nearby. Wouldn't go back.
Great food, and good valued. Staff may be busy to stop by, but they are very friendly and make up for lack of more attention by flexibility. Would recommend for business lunch, and friends and family lunch and dinner.
After initially sitting inside, it was so quiet, dark and depressing that we moved outside. The food was good but the service was poor. The food arrived quickly but after that, no one checked if we were ok or bothered to top up our wine. It looks like it’s a family run business, in which case, I would have expected better service or at least warm, friendly smiles but sadly this wasn’t the case.
The food is generally quite good. Sometimes the service can be slow if they are busy, but the wait staff is always friendly and polite.
Dinner with friends
waiter was exceptional - food was very good.
We had dined here several years ago then , I don't know why, did not return. Glad we made return trip and will start dining here more often
Very attentive service and great food. Outdoor seating is very nice.
Love the food and the service is always top notch!
Always a pleasure to dine at Galata Bistro! Everything I have ever ordered there is delicious.
Food was well prepared and the presentation was lovely. Steak Kabobs and shrimp kabobs were outstanding.
The service was quite slow and inattentive. They took a long time to take our order, then forgot our drinks. Food came out quickly, but even though they knew we were sharing, they did not bring extra plates, again took a long time to check back for desserts, got our coffee order wrong, finally did not offer to pack up our leftovers.
Food itself was underwhelming. Cold appetizer sampler was decent enough, though items like babaganoush and another eggplant salad were a bit too cold and under-spiced. Pita bread was soft and doughy, not the crispness one would expect (they could have toasted it). Greek salad with the main courses was very disappointing, with wilted leaves and crudely cut vegetables, not enough feta. Gyro tasted good, but the accompanying rice was another big ball of starch, very sticky and flavorless. Chicken kebabs were too small and dry, almost charred beyond taste. We got kunefe for dessert, which seemed over-cooked and over-sweet. Turkish coffee was great! All in all, the meal was very unappetizing.
We love the place and the people taking care of us!
Consistently good - Galata is a Menlo Park staple!
This was 4th or 5th visit.
We had an early res for a party of 7.
They treated us like family and consistently have great food.
Will definitely be back.
The ribeye was DIVINE!
Excellent Mediterranean food. Definitely try the warm mixed starters plate.
The “vegetarian” food is cooked in the same oil/grill as the meat.
Great service an delicious good. Thanks Galata!
Had a Greek salad with gyro on top. Delicious. Service was helpful and quite friendly. Will definitely go back.
Easter celebration. This was my 3rd time here and love the food and desserts are delicious.
First time visit. Great food selection and taste. Priced reasonably for the quality.
Busy after 7pm, but we did not feel rushed.
No mention was made of the occasion we were there for (which we had noted in the reservation), but we had not brought it up to the server either.
love this place; it has become a neighborhood favorite
Neighborhood gem! The falafel balls are excellent! Lovely entree salads with several choices of grilled protein (additional charge). I particularly like how they prepare their beet salad, adding pieces of dates for interest...yummy! My husband & I go there as a couple frequently. Recently we took our three grandchildren, and parents, for dinner. They were welcoming to our young guests, and efficiently served!
Great food. Nice location. Busy but not too loud. We will be going back!
Appetizers are good- both cold and warm offerings. The salads were made with wilted lettuce, cold and nearly brown avocado, overcooked lamb and ice-cold crusted goat cheese- one would expect the goat cheese to be warmed to provide some balance to the cold vegetables. It wasn't a pleasant meal after we finished the appetizers. And could the waiter smile? Maybe once to show some warmth and humanity? The gyros were passable. But all in all I would not return.
