Gravity Bistro and Wine Bar
Good food and service, great location, big choice of wines.
A delicious meal all around, including complementary champagne for our anniversary, and surprise candles with our gelato sundae dessert. Charcuterie appetizer was filling yet light, with high quality meats, pickles, and mustard. Pear with burrata cheese dish very satisfying and a wonderful fall harvest dish. We also shared the beef short ribs with polenta. Ribs were very tender and flavorful, polenta creamy with a wonderful cheese blend. Service attentive and friendly.
Only thing we would have changed was if it could have been a little quieter in the kitchen, as there was some noise from forks clanking that went on for a while.
Will definitely be back!
We had a great experience—dinner before heading to the Stanford football game. Our high top table in the downstairs bar was very comfortable & quiet. Drinks & marinated olives were a great start. A bite of tapenade on endive was a tasty surprise. Our burgers were juicy & medium rare as ordered, fries nicely thin & crisp. The Malbec was luscious & paired well.
The perfect ending was Grand Mariner creme brûlée & French press coffee, delish! The attentive service was outstanding!
Then we were off to the game, Stanford beat Washington, yah!
Had a great meal at Gravity Bistro and will definitely go back as there were a number of dishes on the menu I'd like to try!
Food is good and the service is very good, so don’t understand why there are so few diners. First time we ate here was on a Sunday, and there were only 6 other diners. We attributed that to the day of week. This time, a Monday, only 8 diners. So little to no atmosphere.
Food was great, staff was wonderful! Would love to eat here again!
Portions especailly pasta small for cost. Service at first rushed. Ambience a bit cold. Can hear others/tables very close. Could not understand person who gave us compimentary hors d'oeuvres as to what it was. Sauce for mussells a bit too creamy.
Perfect place for dating and a break from the Valley. The staff are in tune with the customers and don’t try to turn your table. I highly recommend it.
The service was excellent, our waiter (Greg?) was so helpful and patient, answering all of our pesky questions. And everything was delicious as always. Thank you!
The wine was amazing as was the food.
My friends and I had an outstanding meal at Gravity, where the excellent food was matched by great service and friendly staff. Six of us held a little reunion / birthday party and Gravity was the perfect venue - trendy, but relaxed, a good menu and attentive staff. The truffle fries are worth going there for alone! Highly recommended.
Nice bar scene downstairs. We ate upstairs. Nice appetizers and delicious food. Service was underwhelming. Had to find out waiter to order after a long wait. Then he disappeared before we paid the bill. Didn't even see him when we left.
Having dined here, we both felt the appetizers were very good and better than the main dishes. If we were to go back there I would just order appetizers and not a dinner item, then I would give it a solid 4 stars but having had their avocado bruschetta and the truffle parmesan fries with the duck confit and the fresh pea pasta I would give them a 7 to 7.5 out of 10. The duck was a bit dry and overcooked not moist as it should be. The fresh pea ravioli was better but not outstanding. The desert of chocolate budino was nice. Having read all of the reviews most people had the most positive comments on the appetizers so if you go skip the dinner and just get say 4 appetizers for a dinner for two and you will have a much better experience.
This is the 2nd time I've had dinner at Gravity Bistro, and the service and food were every bit as good as the first time. We arrived early and sat at the bar to have a glass of wine. Our bartender was extremely nice and well-informed about wines, recommending a couple and letting us taste before making a decision. The host reserved a corner booth he said would be a quiet spot for us to be able to talk once they became busier. We shared a burrata/pear appetizer and a salad, both of which were delicious, as were both of our entrees. I would definitely recommend Gravity to people who just want to gather for a glass of wine after work, or for a quiet conversation over a good meal!
Truly superior! Food and beverage were truly outstanding! Service was wonderful and we had a fantastic evening! Really delicious!!!! And NOT noisy, yay!!
Enjoyed catching up with friends over yummy food.
We had a reservation, were seated and then ignored for twenty minutes. Several staff including someone who seemed to be the manager walked by without approaching us. At some point this became comical as each studiously avoided making eye contact. Three other tables were seated after us and were greeted and served drinks. At this point my wife and I stood up and left. No one approached us as we left. We did let the hostess know what happened so the manager could receive feedback that their service was terrible. We won’t be back.
Great service, good food. Obscenely high wine and cocktail prices. The markup on wine prices is probably four or five times retail.
The food was great, the company was great (we had a group of 5 gals), the service was great and attentive. It was an overall great evening and the location and ambience of the restuarant is great.
Service was great. Food was delicious. Flight of red wines was OK. Definitely will go back.
Great service! Friendly staff and the food was amazing
Great food and one of the best selection of wines. Let the bartenders surprise you with cocktails and you will not be disappointed. Great sea food dishes
Everything my husband and I ordered was very good. The service was beyond excellent. They were very attentive. I am definitely going to be going back.
The menu looked small but, upon further review, had interesting and complex dishes. But not ridiculously so. We needed up sharing a few well-flavored appetizers and going with the waiter’s recommendations for a few different entrees; all were delicious. We took visitors who know food and wine - she’s a sommelier. They loved it. We’ll go back!
Excellent food and service, dishes are way too pricey.
Gravity was a great find, tucked in on a side street, just off University Avenue. We had 4 people in our party and 2 of us got there an hour ahead of time so we sat at the bar and a glass of wine. The bartender was very helpful in recommending the perfect wine for our palette from the happy hour menu. Once the others arrived we were seated in a nice booth in a back-corner that was nicely shielded from the noise. Our waiter was friendly, able to answer all of our questions about the menu and was attentive without being intrusive. We ordered the avocado bruschetta appetizer, which was delicious...we should have ordered two as the serving was small for 4 people. Two of us ordered pasta, one had the burger and the other had the salmon special, and we shared a delicious creme brulee...each of us loved what we ordered. I will definitely go back and would recommend that anyone looking for a very good restaurant in Palo Alto should try it.
My daughter and I visited Gravity because she's particularly fond of their Steak Tartare, which rose to her expectations again this time. My scallops were perfectly done, with vegetables to match, and an excellent sauce. We both enjoyed the moule frite that we shared. I tried two wines, one of my choice and one by the manager's recommendation, both of which were excellent and offered in good-sized pours. Despite it being a Saturday night, service was attentive and prompt. Though busy, the place was not packed, so it was a pleasant experience.
Great service! Great food. Thanks for s fun dinner!
Date night, a great place to be! The service is attentive, great wine recommendations. The shrimp and asparagus appetizers were amazing and the short ribs with polenta to die for. So far everything we ever tried here lived up and beyond our expectations.
We loved the wine selection that our waiter suggested, and the spinach risotto was divine! The noise level is nice and low, so we could hear each other at dinner.
Fantastic ambiance, strikes right balance between elegant/upscale and casual/fun. Service was super friendly, personable and funny. Beet salad and brussel sprout appetizers were delicious. Scallops very good. Duck was good not great. Kids split a burger. including cocktails, bill was ~160. We'd come back again.
Everything was outstanding. Met with three friends who were not first timers and they raced about the ambience, service and delicious food. Great wine flights, whiskeys and good choice of beers. The Brussels sprouts and scallops were absolutely delicious. Make it your next dining experience. You will not regret it
We arrived on time and we were seated at the bar. Then reseated next to a couple whose conversation was very loud close by. Our waiter literally forgot us. The time between courses were very long. The best attention was to the detail around the main course: prime rib. The potatoes were not well done and the brocolli I was like wrapped seaweed. But the beef was tasty. The appetizer and the desert were not memorable. The dessert was a baked pear that was so difficult to cut into that it slid across the table. That is the total experience.
My date asked the restaurant to put flowers on the table and they provided a gorgeous arrangement. Attentive service all night, great food and inventive cocktails. All in all a lovely evening.
We dine here everyTime when in Silicon Valley. The noise level is high, as there are no fabrics at all that can absorb some of it.
The food is great the wine selection impressive and the service diligent. We will come back, maybe a little earlier before the dinner crowd arrives to have a more intimate get together, without having to shout.
Good place, service and food ok
Estuvo bien. Mi único tema es que lleve impreso el cupón por $25 dólares y no lo pudieron aplicar...
Quisiera saber porque???
Excellent service and the wine and food pairings are amazing.
We waited an hour between ordering and getting our food. We were barely checked on during that time and had to hunt someone down to check on our food multiple time
We had a lovely evening: wine flights, wine by the glass and many menu items. The french onion soup, octopus salad, and fllet were my stand-outs. $$$ but worth it. Service was good: attentive but not intrusive. Recomended.
