Great Road Kitchen
First time at GRK. Place has a nice setup . Service was good. We ordered all food together as we were heading over to movie after dinner , but told waiter we were good on time. I will come back to that . Started with calamari frites which the waiter politely checked into whether we had ordered before. He let us know it was not traditional calamari but rather a long finger like frites. We went ahead - it was very heavy on the orange pepper glaze sauce. Would not order again. For dinner I ordered braised short rib and my wife the winter pesto shrimp pasta. First issue was that my wife dinner and mine came out very quickly and before the appetizer , which arrived shortly thereafter. So much for timing. The short rib was slathered with a limes sauce so much so it overwhelmed the beef. Same for my wife’s pesto pasta - very heavy on the sauce.
Likely would not order either again. Just average . And for price paid , disappointing. Add to it that entree arrives before appetizer and was not good overall dining experience .
We have been here numerous times, but not sure if we will be back. We were very disappointed with the food this time. Our meals were luke warm, bland and the lobster special was overdone and dry. This is probably because these meals had to be sitting under the heat lamp for some time. I don't know if they were made ahead in error or because it was Valentine's day, but we ordered our dinners and the server literally brought them within 5 minutes.
This was our 2nd time here, based on a great first time experience, however the second time around was not the charm, very disappointing in the level of service, specifically when one of the party asked to have mushrooms added to the Brunch Burger, the response was somewhat confusing......the question was whether or not GRK had mushrooms to add to a burger, the response was that you had a lot of different kind of mushrooms, however they were all in 12oz portions and that having some added to a burger would mess up the measuring of the portions, very strange response to a simple request, in this day and age I would have thought it pretty simple to add some mushrooms, and even pay for it as an add-on.....I get the whole portion bit.......for food and cost control for the restaurant, simply adding some mushrooms would have been an easy fix and not disappointed a customer, who unfortunately based on this lack of response and not having the ability to be flexible, probably wont be back.
We've eaten here quite a number of times over the years. Service has gone down-hill a bit.
Two things that really bothered us Saturday night:
1. We each ordered a glass a wine, the waitress came back and explained that they were out of that wine. That happens, I get it. We ordered a different glass and she came back and explained that they were out of THAT wine, too. C'mon - why have it on your menu if you don't have it in stock? At least have the server mention what you are out of when handing out the wine/drink menu.
2. Service was too quick. Even despite the wine debacle and despite the fact that we ordered appetizer and dessert (in addition to entrees), we were in and out within 52 minutes. Barely even made sense to have a babysitter!
The restaurant was fun, great bar seating, big open dining room the food was good but not exceptional for the value. The prices of the menu are very high and seemed overpriced.
First time to GRK. Enjoyed the drink and food. A little noisy but that adds to the ambiance. Recommend you give it a try.
Wow, the slowest service ever! It was like we were in France ..... 3 hours. Is it a ploy to get you to order more drinks? We were absolutely starving. Food was decent, but I won't be going back.
Our food was okay but not exceptional. There were only several menu choices that we liked so some just opted for a burger. Our guest asked for medium rare beef and got medium well so we had to wait. I got the short rib and it was very tough and I could not even cut it. I didn’t want to say anything in front of our guests so I brought it home and threw it away. We did get the berry crisp dessert which was excellent.
Really a mixed bag. The food was ok. Nothing terrible, but not great either and very much on the expensive side. I had the fish tacos for $19. Pretty expensive for a lunch item. The fish was ok. The guacamole really needed some salt. It was pretty bland. No salt on the table and by the time someone came by to check on us I was almost done eating. I had the bread pudding for dessert. It was a generous portion. Great for sharing size, but not that tasty. Some vanilla sauce would have really helped with the flavor instead of a small amount of whipped cream. I'm thinking this place is just too expensive for lunch. Total was $30 for these two items and I drank water.
The food was wonderful and the server was attentive and helpful.
The noise level was extremely high. We went with someone who has a voice issue but we were told we could not have a booth. It made it very difficult to hear her.
Pub atmosphere, overpriced for the high noise level.
Excellent. Service was top notch as well. Will go back for sure
We had a party of 8 for a business meal and were blown away with the service and quality of the food. Extremely pleased and will return.
First time visit. Excellent menu & great service. The calamari appetizer was amazing. On par with some of the best in-town Boston restaurants. We'll be back
We go for the convenience to the theater. Food is usually pretty good, but is loud and service is on the slow side.
Wish whiskey was served in a proper glass and not a tall glass. Only complaint
Very expensive for what you get.
Every dish was over salted.
We have been here many times always excellent food and great service
Went for Sunday morning brunch, was outstanding, best food I have had in a while. Will return.
We've enjoyed Great Road Kitchen in all seasons, so decided to try it for New Year's Eve. The menu options were terrific, and fairly priced. The place was hopping, so the noise level was high, but we snagged a table in a quieter corner - perfect! The service was excellent, and beer and wine options were great. We'll return soon!
Good food, though we had a special NYE menu rather than the normal dinner menu. Service was excellent - friendly, attentive, and unfussy. The restaurant itself was clean and attractive, though it was a little noisy.
The lobster carbonara was a bit too rich. Other than that, everything was perfect.
Very noisy, but great food and drink menu, and food is excellent
The swordfish kabobs and udon noodle special was the most incredible meal. Still dreaming about it!
Great waitress, great meal.
Bar service was SLOW!!!!! Very nice girl but disappeared and food took 35-40 minutes to clean me out.
We found the ticket time to be over an hour. Not impressed at all with how long we waited. The server was apologetic and very nice.
Waited 90 minutes for food after ordering. Then food was cold and quite unappetizing. Never again.
Happy to have a higher end restaurant in the area with vegan options!
Our server was fantastic! His descriptions of our choices and why they may or may not have been his favorites seated the deal for us!!! Btw: we ordered the Cast Iron Chicken and the Steak Frites. I want to go back now!!!
The menu had a great variety of choices for all tastes. The food was very good and the service was attentive. Unfortunately, the main course took way too long to serve (60 minutes after our salads) and we didn't order anything special.
Great cocktails. Varied and creative (but not weird) menu. The restaurant itself is a bit cold, in design as well as temperature, and because of the industrial architecture, it's somewhat noisy even when not crowded.
a great find! We were looking for somewhere to meet people from the north and this was pretty close to the middle. excellent menu, great bar and craft beer selection - incredibly attentive and friendly staff - will definitely be back!
Our entree (Faroe Island Salmon) was undercooked in the center despite asking it to be prepared medium. Told the waiter and he did nothing to correct it. Place was very noisy and the bill was a bit high for 1 drink each 1 app each and 1 entree each.
We sat at the bar and the bartenders were great, attentive and offered options for us. The food was amazing and the atmosphere very relaxing. Thanks for a great evening!
Went for the Thanksgiving dinner buffet, and everything was perfect, Turkey was tender and juicy, sides we great and plenty of dessert choices.
Thanksgiving. I am on a special diet and had lots of choices and food was well labeled. Left very full, even with many dietary restrictions.
Found the atmosphere utilitarian and uninspiring. But the food was fabulous. I loved the tuna poke which was delicious and just the right amount
