Greco's of Willow Springs

We have been to Grecos numerous times over the past 20 years. Not frequent diners, but it was on our list of good places to go to.
I honestly have no idea what has changed since we we last there. Our meal was horrible! The calamari appetizer had a bad aftertaste- I assumed they needed to clean their fryer. The dressing on the salads was SO sweet it was hard to eat. Then I got one of the specials- a Haddock with orzo. The orzo came SWIMMING in what appeared and tasted to be a sweet chili sauce. I would have needed a slotted spoon to drain the sauce and actually get orzo (and it seemed like rice not orzo, but who knows, it was inedible). The breaded fish was soggy, and there was SO much soggy breading. The kids got spaghetti and meatballs because you can’t go wrong with spaghetti and meatballs right? Wrong. The sauce was super sweet and had an overwhelming anise flavor. You either like anise or hate it. We are haters. The meatballs were dry. My husband had the pork chop and enjoyed it, but that was the ONLY good thing about the meal. Waitress had a cough and kept coughing, not into her elbow, but just into the air. While taking our orders, while putting our salads into bowls table side... hello influenza! Waitress also didn’t ask if there was something wrong with my meal since it was obvious I didn’t eat anything but the fish after picking off the breading. I definitely was waiting to give my opinion on it.
It was crazy how bad this experience was. Can’t believe we spent $140 on a meal that I would have been angry to spend $40 on.
Last time for Grecos. Big thumbs down down down.
I've been dining here once a month for 25 years, never have had a bad meal. A hidden gem!!
Very good food and service. Clean place and great owners
This Italian food is the best ever
Their wine great
Food and service were excellent. Greco’s never disappoints.
Great food! Order one of the specials though that was very good but over priced! The waitress didn’t inform me of the price. I would have because the price was way out of line.
Wait staff was very inattentive. Eggplant parmigiana was bland and mushy.
This restaurant is billed "fine dining" but the decorating, the cheap "cafeteria-like" utensils, plastic cups and mediocre food say otherwise. Disappointing in all respects...........
First time in your restaurant and considering the holidays with it being busy, our food and drinks were excellent. Loved the atmosphere, quiet and warm. Staff did an excellent job with busy atmosphere. We will be back. Thank you for a nice evening.
Great authentic pasta. Lasagna was the Bomb
Took my wife on a date here because I used to work here back in my younger days. Glad to see the food is still phenomenal and the service is amazing. Group next to us was a tad bit loud but that had nothing to do with the restaurant.
Great food great service
Wonderful owner, great food, a home away from home!
Server was excellent. Food was above average. Old building but decorations were great.
I always enjoyed going to Greco's, I made a reservation on Open Table at 10:30 am. The reservation was for 6:30 pm on the porch. We were celebrating my sister in laws birthday, she frequents Greco's and likes sitting on the porch. When we arrived we were told there weren't any tables available on the porch. Our options were another table inside the restaurant, or we could sit at the bar until a table became available. We decided to stay and take a table in the bar area. The food was great, the service OK. It was a Wednesday night and not very crowed just not sure why our reservation was not honored.
Fabulous oysters Rockefeller! Love the red sauce on the spinach ravioli!
Wonderful place! Had oysters rockerfeller it was fabulous. The pasta was outstanding highly recommended
Possibly the best lasagna I ever had.
Always enjoyable and consistently delicious!
Dinner at Grecco’s never disappoints! Food is always delicious!
I think they may have changed their chef. The food was good but I feel like their meat sauce was overly sweet, how dressing was almost sour. Service is good. surprisingly empty for a Friday night.
Our table of four consisted of all repeat customers. The food and drinks are consistently delicious and reasonably priced. The wait staff is helpful and attentive. It can get noisy, but that’s because everyone is having a really good time!
Love this old school gem. The food was amazing and the portions were more than generous. We will definitely be back again.
Best Italian restaurant I the area, the service & food is second to none.
As usual, the food was great and service outstanding. My favorite, Little Ears, was excellent and my wife had the baked Haddock fish special, it was the best!!
Dinner was delish the pork chops were fantastic and the veal was done to perfection.
Both my husband and I were very disappointed with the food that we ate at Greco's. The food had no taste and made my husband sick afterwards.
Fabulous lasagna served with a meatball in case you want to really overeat. Delicious dressing on the house salad. Cute location in an old house. Lots of regulars eating there. Never had dessert as was too full from my entree. Highly recommend for good food at wallet friendly prices.
The food is always delicious. The staff is great & so is the owner. Great place to eat!!!
Love Greco’s! Food is outstanding as well as service. A bit loud for conversation at times, but that’s the sound of success and happy clients! Their homemade salad dressing is the best. We always make sure we come to Greco’s when we are in town. We live in Colorado. And we bring back salad dressing too!
Grew up in area and had not been in about 5 years, I so wanted it to be excellent. It was not busy - all diners were seated within indoor patio. The service was mediocre - not pleasant more of an attitude. No suggestions. The crowd was older and it seemed if you weren't a regular that the extra warm hospitality was not gifted to new customers. Which was a shame. Highlight - the water server was super attentive.
Of the four in our group, I was the only one satisfied with my lake perch dinner. The remainder all had pasta dishes and were extremely disappointed. The lake perch was fantastic. Greco’s hasn’t been remodeled since the early 60’s, needs a little updating.
Been going to Greco's for years. It is our favorite restaurant. Perch during lent is the best I have ever had. We check their specials every week and their regular menu is delicious and consistent is taste and quality.
We met four friends at Greco's for dinner on a Sat. evening. Everyone enjoyed the food. I asked for a table in the Fireplace Room facing the forest preserves. Greco's accommodated me, the ambiance was very nice & it was quiet enough for us to enjoy our conversation. We would definitely return for another friendly get-together.
Great food is actually awesome
Wonderful people and owners
The owner did not encourage open table. A large party was extremely loud. Food was good. Unable to book on Open Table for anytime after 530pm and the restaurant had numerous seating at that time.
The food was simply outstanding! I was fortunate enough to have tonight's Grouper special and my wife had the Snapper. We have never had these dishes prepared any better...anywhere in the world!! And our great, friendly waitress and wonderfully genial busboy really made us feel welcome and well looked after. Thank you for a memorable and thoroughly delightful evening!
Always good ,but this time service was not as good.
Food was outstanding! Chicken Piccata was very tender and the sauce just right. My table mates had the spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were the most tender and flavorful. Definitely will go back form dinner soon.
Small, intimate restaurant. Food was average, service excellent.
