Greatness location for a business lunch. Food was terrific
The sevic e was average, the $54 filet was the smallest pice of meat I have ever ecpereinced and I was served the wrong meal (the was served 15 minutes after my collueges meal). Overall very disappointing!

The st Regis restaurant is no longer “on brand” for the st Regis. Frankly, it feels janky and empty. If you are staying at the st Regis definitely avoid their restaurant. They made a big mistake losing The original Ame restaurant. It looks like a “temporary restaurant” a patch until they open the “real restaurant”. We were the only patrons in there. It was sad. Pathetic actually. Don’t go. St Regis is too smart to tolerate this off brand mediocrity. Wake up, St Regis management!
The place was not so busy when we came in and it was a very pleasant experience. From the receptionist all the way to the servers - they were all superb! The waiter knows the menu very well and even considered the time it will take to prepare them so we won’t miss our show. We will definitely come back!
Food very good, as usual, but it took an unusually long time to reach the table after ordering. Staff forgot the amuse bouche so I had to ask Kane. He apologized. Staff seemed distracted. Service was not the usual top notch that I’ve experienced for years.
Food was predictably very good and service was excellent. It always surprises me that this restaurant is not packed and it is easy to reserve a table. Truly good food, excellent service, good location: why don’t more people know about this place?!
This was different restaurant than I was expecting. I had recalled there was a lovely restaurant in the lobby that was very quiet and elegant. This was more like an expensive coffee shop that was loud and sterile. The staff was amazing, the only reason for my low review there was they got behind and then service slowed to a crawl. I was late for my next meeting. My food was ok, but not "great" as I would expect for a $28 hamburger. I was expecting a GF bun of high quality, and what came out was a burger in 2 slices of very average GF bread (like I get at Trader Joes). So not the excellent lunch I was expecting in SF while attending a 1 day conference at Moscone.
They made a special Benedict order just for my mother. She couldn’t have been more thrilled.
Uninspired and sloppy food. Given the location you would think the St Regis would hire a good chef. Empty restaurant
We were looking for a quite location to host a business meeting. We choice your location as that was what was advertise but upon arrive and as our meeting got started, we felt that it was much noisier that what we would have considered to be a quiet environment. But service and food was good.
I don’t think I have ever been to a restaurant that has given me even close to the type of service that I have received from The Grill at St.Regis. Being a restaurant inside of a hotel it may not seem like a first choice when selecting a fine dining place to go to in San Francisco, but the food is better than some Michelin Star restaurants I have been to and I would choose to go here over many fine dining places that San Francisco has to offer which is saying a lot. Every bite of everything I ate was full of surprising and beautifully crafted combinations of flavoring. I feel like literally everything I ate from the main course of lamb I ordered to the spaghetti squash on the side to the gelato was infused with such unique and perfectly curated flavors. Chef T.J. is incredibly talented. Upon talking to our server Rachid he told us how everything was marinated and prepared and the cooking process and seasonings for every item. Carlos warmly welcomed us back when my friend and I arrived which was really sweet how he remembered us and genuinely cared. Cesar is so warm and kind and we loved talking to him again. He has the sweetest heart and really makes you feel cared for during your entire time. I love all of the employees we interacted with. They are truly the kindest people and care so much for what they do and the people they interact with. Louis was new to us this time and he was also so kind hearted and prompt on taking care of us. The staff is so attentive and it made me feel like we were the only table being taken care of with how personalized and efficient the service was even though there were many tables in the restaurant. The manager Alex even came by a few times to chat with us and make sure everything was well. TK is a cook in the kitchen and he let us try some of the items for the seasonal menu he was working on which was phenomenal. Going to The Grill is like going back to see family. A simple dinner turned into an experience that made my day.
The ambience was sub-par. For a restaurant at a 5 star hotel, I expected linens on the tables, (not hard formica table tops, carpeting on the floor or some sort of floor covering that looks less industrial -- and something softer on the floor that might absorb some of the ambient noise. And the noise level was too much -- even though the restaurant was 2/3 empty when we were there. The food and service were very good.

Foods is okay! The waiter is hyper making me nervous! Next time I’ll stay at the bar area it’s more relaxing and manika is not hyper:)
If you dine at the Grill, breakfast is a much better experience than dinner. The wait staff were attentive. A number of choices of breakfast items on the menu. I had the Belgian waffle and it was served hot with warm syrup on the side. Just as I like it!
Great Delicious, creative Food and exceptional Service
I was disappointed in my dining experience. From the reviews, I expected this to be a 4+ Star experience. The best thing I ate was the banana bread pudding. The ribeye I ordered lacked flavor and it including the sides (mushrooms and potatoes) were lukewarm.
we used to come here often in 2016-early2018 to have lunch and dinner. We even tried 2017 Christmas course menu too. it was one of our favorite place to eat out. This restaurant used to have a very nice pre fixed menu and a la carte food. we remembered the food, service, and ambience being much superior with this place but It seems like they downgraded the menu to be more casual food than modern french twisted american cuisine. when we visited the place, It was not busy at all but we had to wait for 1 hour to get our first soup, and another half hour to get salads, and another half hour to get already not so warm- main dishes. none of them were memorable like those past years. Unfortunately even 5 star hotel, we wouldn't recommend.:/
We dined at The Grill a few weeks ago for my prtner’s birthday dinner and had an exceptionally good dinner and time. I booked New Year’s Eve dinner expecting the similar type of experience, but the 4 course prix fixe menu was mediocre and way overpriced.
1) winter green salad - dry and definitely needed more salad dressing
2) cream of potato and leek soup - the soup was lukewarm at best. I would’ve asked for the waiter to have the kitchen warm it up in the microwave, but he was not to be found.
3) butter poached Maine lobster tail. It was very hard to cut and it was hard to chew. It reminded me of my childhood when I would chew on rubber bands.
4) Halibut - this was a substitution since I don’t eat red meat. But this was very dry and seemed either over cooked or just overly dry
5) bittersweet chocolate mousse- the best part of the meal hands down
We dined on New Year's Eve and consideration of this review should keep that context in mind. For the main restaurant at a luxury hotel brand like St. Regis in a great city like SF, the Grill was surprisingly casual. No white tablecloths here, just thin hard tables in a modern interior. The New Year's Eve menu was tasty but not distinctive and lacked a wow factor given the occasion. They had promised piano music which was provided, but the pianist was not visible from our seat location and the music was hard to hear. Service seemed distracted; our server did not approach for about 15 minutes and made no attempt to offer wine, take an order or review the list. Several of the food runners were difficult to understand. Overall, it just lacked aplomb, given the hotel brand. It's certainly serviceable if you're in the hotel for other reasons, but it's not a destination.
I guess because it was Christmas Day I should be forgiving. Maybe the staff just wanted to be home with their families. Food was “meh” just OK and barely warm - my wife’s grilled salmon was cold. The waitress kindly comped us the salmon which was generous. In short the experience fell short of my expectations.
Wonderful service highlighted our Christmas Day Brunch at the Grill. It was nice to select our meal from a thoughtful list of entrees rather than an endless line of cold and heated dishes as served at a more typical hotel holiday brunch. Of course there were mimosas! - and other wine/liquor selections were available. Dessert was an amazing bread pudding with candied pecans and ice cream.
Given the price and the festive holiday season (Thanksgiving), I expected more. I could have done a better job myself on the overall menu. In fact , Whole Foods hot bar would have been better than this. Also, food was not even served hot but Luke warm. Overall, with exception of the veggies, this felt like a frozen dinner but not for the TV dinner price! I The hotel itself was nice and I loved my room but I would never do Thanksgiving dinner here again. Even the desser, could have had something better if I went to Safeway and got something. Really unamazing food. But servers were nice.
Our waiter Hersol P. made our lunch! He was very attentive and kind! The chefs were accommodating as I asked for the crab cakes that were on the lunch menu and they said "no problem" and made them available.
Very professional staff and delicious food!
Poor service (it got better after the first couple mishaps). Went there specifically for a brunch to host my VIP customers which was recommended by a colleague especially for the speciality golden gate Bloody Mary — but they wouldn’t make it said it was too early because bartenders weren’t in (it was 9:30AM). Forgot our mimosa order. Cold omelette. Embarrassing to host my customers there. So overpriced for what we got.
Horribly overpriced and flavorless. Worst in many visits. I won't be back
Wow! Everything was fantastic. Not cheap, but one of the best restaurant meals I have had in years.

We had such poor service that the manager gave us our lunch for free. The wait staff asked for our order three separate times and they still didn’t get it right when they finally served it.
Unfortunately my dish was cold and my daughter’s was too hot. We had tickets for Yerba Buena and did not want to delay things. For a five Hotel one would expect impeccable quality of food. Service was very good, attentive and professional.
I dined at the Grill for lunch, specifically because it was right next door to SFMOMA and I had a 1:30 ticket for the exhibition. My lunch reservation was for 12:45, I was on time and I was seated immediately. I ordered the Tempura Cod Sandwich partly because I thought that would be a quick item to prepare. Apparently not, service was very slow. (Ultimately, I was 15 minutes late for my appointment next door.) The Tempura Cod was extremely disappointing. I was expecting a reasonably sized portion of cod, with a very light (in texture and color) coating of batter. The portion was very small and the batter was dark and heavy – like it had been cooked too long in old oil. The cod itself deserves only 1 star. However, I give the food overall 2 stars as the fries and coleslaw were fine. I will probably just dine at SFMOMA next time.
We ate at the Grill at the St Regis for Mother’s Day brunch. Our server was excellent and the food was excellent as well. Everything was very fresh and nicely presented. The quality was exceptional and the environment was really nice. The table flower arrangements were beautiful and on the way out they gave each mother a beautiful pink rose and a gift of fresh elderberry compote. I would highly recommend this restaurant. We really enjoyed our meal.
Service was excruciatingly slow. Seemed like the room was packed and the kitchen couldn’t keep up with orders.
First visit. Food and service were excellent. Nice and quiet.
Really well executed but boring food. So generic, so lacking character. But well done! Good service too. We only went there since all other places were booked due to the conference.
