Half Moon Bay Brewing Company
My husband and I decided to celebrate Thanksgiving in HMB this year, rather than go to family. I LOVE the ocean, and it was the second to last day before the rain comes in for a week. Sat by the fire, with a beer and was then totally excited that they had a turkey lunch on the menu!!!! It was delicious!!! This might now be our new tradition!! Thanks HMBBC - you’re awesome!!!!!!
Kailani was our server and she was just so attentive and professional and adorable, she was a great server!
The experience was great! I would come back for the brunch.
Fish and chips were delicious, crunchy batter and tender cod, a healthy portion. I substituted my regular fries for parmesan truffle, very rich and yummy! So many tasty beers to choose from, a real treat!
The hostess did not seat us for over 20 minutes when we had reservations. Kept saying the table was getting bussed, but other walk-ins were getting seated. So we sat in the bar area as it was available. My crab louie salad was amazing!
We had an interesting dining experience because we had chose the location because it was a brewery and had multiple TV’s surrounding the bar plus the food looked pretty good too. When we arrived the place was fairly busy with the patio completely full (give or take a table) and there was one table of 6 in the bar directly in front of a TV where we chose because we were there to watch the 49er game. Normally I would have chosen the ambiance of the beautiful outdoor patio with heat lamps and the huge fire pit! We sat down and ordered drinks I did a glass of white wine and my husband did a beer on tap. We then proceeded to order an order of mussels to share as a family. They came fairly quickly and were very good dipped on the slightly spicy butter sauce and served with Parmesan French fries which were so good dipped in the sauce! Next we tried a grilled artichoke dipped in a cream sauce it ended up being way to tough so my husband sent it back and got a ceasar salad and the Joe’s Fisherman’s stew topped off with the Hatcher Zinfandel. Overall, this place was very tasty and we enjoyed the extra large TV in the bar. On our way out we realized where are kids had been hiding out for the last half hour and we soon joined them by the fire pit on the wonderful patio I had noticed when we had entered the patio. Overall, great restaurant and I would definitely add it to your hit list in your visit to Half Moon Bay.
It was a great experience. Good food for the kids. Great aquarium for the kids. Good Rose’. Great IPAs.
Shrimp Louie salads were good and the fried sampler too.
I’m local and love this place.
Quality of food is mediocre and the dining room is a bit tired. Chairs on uneven floor makes for a rather uncomfortable dining experience. Our waiter however was exceptional.
We went to hear the music and that was great. I made a reservation but as it turns out, if you want to hear the music, you (supposedly) can't make a reservation in the bar area. Strange, because one table in the bar had a "RESERVED" sign on it... but the not-so-hospitable hostess insisted that you can't reserve tables in that area. Tell me if that makes any sense. Food was medium-okay, service was excellent. I will only go back if friends are playing there.
Fun outing, gorgeous weather, good friends and good food!
It was very nice. The food was delicious and the staffs were very friendly.
The beer was kinda average but the food was delicious, you have to try the fried pickles and crab sandwich!!!
This restaurant has been on my radar for a while, because they offer live entertainment on the weekends. While we did not sit in the bar area where the band was playing, we could hear the music from our table, and after dinner, we spent a few minutes listening to the group in the bar. The food was good, but our soups came out at the same time as our dinner. We told the waiter we would have preferred getting our soups first, and he said he meant to ask us about that, but he didn't. He might have been new, and hopefully he will think to ask customers in the future. Overall, we enjoyed our evening, and I would return there for dinner/music.
The food is always great here. This time of year the weather in HMB offers sweet relief from the heat of the South Bay. The noise level is pleasant--on this occasion we had a lot of birthday-related laughter going on at our table and the room accommodated that. A delightful evening in a perfect place!
I’ve eaten here before several years ago - I remember it being much better. The grilled salmon dinner was small, blah and generally tasteless. Service was very slow too.
Long waiting to get order taken, served and to get the check.
There was food left under the table when they cleared a table. Several flies hung by the window.
Bustling beer garden, tasty appetizers, and a decent view - great combo for a pit stop on a long haul home down the coast!
Very good...not cheap but good food and beautiful views.
Fun and casual atmosphere. Interesting and varied menu.
Fun spot to have lunch, we both had different salads from the menu and both were very good. Would highly recommend.
The food, atmosphere, and service are always great. And they make terrific beer. Dog friendly!
We went for Father’s Day. The server seemed uncomfortable or like he really just wanted to go home. However, once we ordered the food did come out relatively quickly. The appetizer was good, but the entrees were not the best. I had the crab roll and there was way too much bread so the point where I just tore the roll in half. The meal, for what it was, seemed overpriced. In my opinion, this place may be good for drinks and appetizers, but maybe not a whole meal.
Good calamari + very good fish + chips.
We had such a great meal and overall experience for our lunch that we decided to go back again the next day before our return trip home. Both visits were excellent!
Fried artichokes were yummy. Fish tacos needed more flavor (salsa and guac could be spicier). My friend raved about the clam chowder! Beers are kind of odd but I guess lots of people go for that! Lots of people brought their dogs (on the patio). The vibe was friendly and relaxed. Nice place to have lunch while exploring the area!
Awful. Will not go back. Booked reservation through Open Table after redeeming $50 reward. Received call from restaurant confirming my reservation which I did. Presented reward card before bill came. Server and manager both told me they are not in Open Table system so they could not accept it. Did not want to get into argument and will take it up with Open Table. Obviously a disconnect between the two companies.
The food was average in taste and presentation, but expensive. The restaurant smelled of old fish.
The staff were friendly and welcoming.
Fish tacos alone are worth the drive. Great service and great cocktails as well. We love this place!
The outside hostess was very rude.
We enjoyed our meal and time at the Brewing Co! Would definitely return when we are in the Half Moon Bay area again!
The service was just ok
Nice guy but seemed discombobulated and slow
This is a great place for a burger or sandwich while you watch the water in Half Moon Bay.
Booked reservations twice now for the brewery, food, service, experience is great. However both reservations were for special occasions and notated in the reservation but the restaurant didn’t acknowledge the special occasion. Only suggestion to make the experience completely unforgettable would be for the restaurant to acknowledge any special remarks or requests on reservations. Thank you.
Great brunch sitting outside! Weather was beautiful, food was great (after correcting steak temperature), good spot for families.
Delicious fried artichoke hearts and burgers! Great waitstaff too!
Exactly what you would expect in a small coastal town. The food and service both were great. Had the steak and it was cooked perfectly. Menu has lots to choose from. Will go back!
