Harry Caray's Tavern - Navy Pier
Lassen Sie liefern
We ate at Harry Caray's before the play at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. The drinks were perfect and so were the hamburgers we had. The hostess/server was very engaging. Extra nice bonus 20% discount on food before the show.
Not worth the wait
Loved the memorabilia - great food too!
The food was just OK. The wings were dry. I had a barbecue sampler and two of the three meats were dry as well. Total different experience than I’ve had in the past with this restaurant. Usually the food is second to none.
Food was good, we miss that our favorite fish dish was removed from the menu.
The food was great! The service was very good and the ambience was very laid-back.
Very good size of the plates, the service was outstanding. Order a chicken sandwich, ribs, burger and an spinach dip with cheese that was delicious!
Went before imax show for drinks and app. Wine was terrible, didn’t finish even a small pour. Beer was good. Cherry coke was flat and all ice. Kid didn’t drink. Spinach dip was good. Value bad but at tourist attraction location, should have lowered our expectations. Had a great server. All really nice staff.
Had not looked at menu ahead, very limited basically only your typically bar fare. I know its a high end bar, but have been too many and this is very limited in my opinion. Burger was pricier and perhaps a 1/3 pound at best. We ordered drinks and an appetizer and entree. The appetizer and dinner came all together almost immediately, so quickly our drinks had not arrived. We were told the bar was slammed. If that is the case then perhaps delay asking for or placing the food order. Did not order a second round due to this.
We went there for Breakfast with Santa. Our waiter was nice but not very attentive. He make mistake on ordering our food. Kids scramble egg included bacon and drink but he charged us separately for both. Essentially we paid 8 bucks for an order of scrambled eggs alone. He did not come to refill coffees; only did that after we asked him. Food was good but nothing especial otherwise. No especial decoration on the food for Breakfast with santa.
We had 4 friends in from Ohio and none of them had ever been to Navy Pier including the Grandma that was from Chicago. It was a great place to visit ,eat and see part of the sky line from. The Service was great and so was the location the food was hot and tasty.
Great service! In and out to a movie! Wait staff was friendly!
My family (adult sons and my wife) had an early dinner here on 11/2/19. The restaurant was a nice place. The server was very helpful and attentive. The drinks were very good. The food was a mixed bag. All the food that had a barbeque or smoked preparation was dry. This included the chicken wings, the ribs, the pulled pork, and the chicken that was in my salad. The other food that we had was very tasty, so it was an odd contrast with the other items. I am not new to various types of barbeque food, and have a pretty wide range of what types I enjoy...but dry and lacking in flavor are not on my list. Given that this restaurant is in a tourist area, perhaps I should not have expected much...but it had a 4.2 star rating on Yelp. I can get much better tasting food for $150 at many other places. No reason to return here.
Food/atmosphere/service was great!! Noise level was a little too loud to hear our friends who were seated at the same table.
Great atmosphere and friendly waiters/waitresses. Definitely a place to visit!
I was surprised at how limited the menu selection was, but my expectations were based on previously dining at the main location in River North. The food was fine, typical pub fare. The service was OK but a little slow...no silverware, a canned beer was served without a glass, etc. We ordered a dessert but after waiting 15 minutes we had to tell our server to cancel it and bring our check because we were starting to get pressed for time for a play we were attending. This isn't a place I'd avoid, but I won't be rushing back either. Nothing special.
The location on Navy Pier and outdoor dining today was great! The customer service was fast and friendly! The alcoholic beverages are a skip. They’re watered down. The food was really good.
Fun place....great location and food was good. Service wasn't great but wasn't terrible either. Clean. Would definitely go back.
It's hard to believe that this is part of Harry Caray's, I've always enjoyed eating at the regular restaurants but this one has an entirely different menu. My food was OK (pulled pork) but my friend ordered a salad with chicken and the chicken was inedible. I would have said something right away but she only mentioned it at the end of the meal and they brought her out some replacement chicken but she had already eaten her salad.
Pre theater dinner
Good food. Great service. Fun iconic place to eat while spending time in Chicago.
The hospitality and reception of the people greeting us was lacking greatly. I am always curious at why an establishment doesn’t emphasize to their employees that this is required practice and how it truly sets the tone for the visit. You can over look a lot if you feel welcomed. The floors were sticky on our walk to the table. Ugh. Our server was adequate- but again- nothing warm or special. The abbreviated menu is ok compared to the Kinzie location. We used to love getting the calamari- and now it’s not even offered. I guess the Navy Pier location requires a limited menu? We had 9 people and one order was omitted and the manager was great about quickly getting the meal out. The limited menu should also reflect better pricing. I’ll never go out of my way to stop in again. I’ll save my visit for the one on Kinzie.
The location for going to a Bears game was great. Value was excellent and food was good.
Ability to sit outside on a great night was perfect.
We had a wonderful experience. Service was fast and they made us feel as if we were at a good friend's home. Definitely worth the visit.
Sat outside for lunch. Our server was inattentive and not overly polite/accommodating. Ambiance was nice with seating outside on the pier. Food wasn’t anything special. BBQ chicken and pulled pork meals were dry.
Good food & good experience!
Salad was warm and soggy, chicken was extremely dry and my strawberry daiquiris was nothing but syrup. Offered new salad but had no appetite after first try, my replacement drink was much better. Service was the best part however. The prices are way to high for food that had to have been cooked hours if not a day ahead.
After being sat, waited over 20 min before anyone came to the table to greet us and take a drink order. They were not busy at the time judging by the amount of wait staff standing around talking to each other. The food was subpar and tasteless, limited menu, the chicken on the caesar salad was so dry it had to be washed down with water. Horrible experience.
Food was excellent and our waitress was extremely friendly. Atsmophere was wonderful. Has a great birthday lunch there.
Thank you very much for this great review! We are so glad to hear you had such a great experience and hope you will be back to see us at Harry's again soon!
Stopped in for a Friday lunch and the restaurant was about half full but the service was pretty slow. Food was good and the pork belly burger was very good. Hoped for a better experience
Eating outside at Navy Pier is enjoyable. The food at Harry Caray’s Tavern fills the bill. Good bar food with a side of great people watching!!
Great service in a great outdoor atmosphere! Perfect for a quick bite on a beautiful day!
Thank you for your great review, Debbie! We are thrilled to hear you had a great time with us at Harry Caray's Tavern and hope you will be back to see us again in the future!
We ended up in a section that the server was having trouble keeping up, and another server came over to ask if we had been helped 10 minutes after being seated. After keeping an eye on our section a while longer, he asked someone if he could take our order, since we weren't being served. Had it not been for that server, we would have left. The food was good. Prices a little higher, but expected for the location. We had a discount from the Shakespeare Theater, so we thought we would try it. It was also rather warm - not air-conditioned, so beware on hot days...
For me, a dining experience is mostly made up by 2 huge factors; customer service and the quality/taste of the food. Customer service could have been better, and I would say more of whatever process they have to assign guests to waiters. Our waiter was slammed. We didn’t see her/order our drinks until a good 15 minutes after we were seated. That is a no-no in my book, but the actually waitress, when we finally were attended to, was great. She (Rochine, with an Irish accent I believe?) knew her menu, she was ready to make suggestions/recommendations, and she was pleasant to be serviced by. My food was lukewarm though..and I’m not surprised, it took a bit of time to get to us as well. The fried pickles were good, and so were the flavors of my fried chicken sandwich and corn on the cob but the corn was over cooked and lukewarm, and the sandwich needed more of the sauce. But I must say; that chicken was cooked PERFECTLY! It was perfectly seasoned, battered and thinned out. My husband liked his food; he had the specialty burger, along with fries. The ketchup served here is delish (it’s either 87 or 78, forgot the name of it). And the memorabilia all around-outstanding. I would recommend to a small group or even just as a casual date night eatery at Navy Pier.
The ribs were delicious, fall off the bone! Great flavor and tender pulled pork. The fried pickles are the best we’ve ever had. The pickle itself made me think of my grandmas homemade dill pickles, yum!
What a great review, thank you so much! We are so glad to hear you loved everything and we hope you will be back to see us again in the future!
It was just ok. Food was so so, service was just ok.
Food took an hour to come to table. Two burgers and two chicken wings. Won’t go back. Manager very nice but kitchen needs to step it up.
Everything was a bit slow do to the crowds, but I wouldn't blame Harry Caray's for this. I'll visit again when it isn't a holiday.
As a side note, I will never visit the pier again for the 4th of July. Got caught with with my children in the violent Chaos; very traumatic.
Thank you for joining us at Harry Caray's Tavern! We appreciate your review and would love to welcome you back!
Marcus was a nice guy. I hope that he is ok after the incident that night on the 4th.
I have always enjoyed my meals at the other locations. Not really a big fan of the BBQ theme for the Navy Pier location. Food was good. Would have liked to see some fish option or fried calamari on the menu. The service and the atmosphere are really good. Good prices for Navy Pier.
Thank you for joining us at Harry Caray's Tavern. We appreciate your feedback and are glad you enjoyed everything. We hope you will be back to see us at any of our Harry Caray's locations again in the future!
