Creative Thai cuisine with a selection of three and five course menus. Excellent food quality, friendly service and nice atmosphere.
Everything was great.
Really beautiful presentation and all of the dishes were delicious. The menu is either 3 courses or 5 courses, with no a la carte option. I recommend the 5 course menu as you get to try more of everything, though you might be full by dessert. Staff was extremely attentive, serving and clearly quickly and quietly. The ambiance and decor are minimal, attractive, and soothing, almost spa-like. The restaurant was slower at our 6:30 Saturday reservation, however filled up shortly after, with new diners coming in consistently.
This was our third time to Herb. Food still amazing, we’ll definitely be returning. Got to meet the chef (Patti), very pleasant and she really cares about the customers.
Fabulous!Fabulous!Fabulous! Wonderful Thai with fabulous flavors, fresh and original!
The food was great, service was awesome and Pattie coming out to personally greet add the home feel to it. We will return.
My favorite restaurant in the city always romantic and wonderful
Excellent food. Should be on everyone’s must eat list.
Bad service! Great food
I love this place! Fantastic food. Patty is my favorite chef.
If you want Fresh, Original,Tasty Thai food at a great value, HERB on Broadway is THE place, our Favorite!
Delicious tasting menu. Loved everything but we were seated in the back room and I was facing the bar back which was not in use so very uninteresting and no ambiance. They need to fix it up because the food was outstanding. BYOB also so that’s something to remember! I read the service was a bit slow bring wine opener and solved this by bringing my own. Was a food idea!
Food is excellent which is what makes it worth going there. The staff is very nice but the kitchen was painfully slow in getting our dishes to us and at that haphazardly. Very frustrating. The parking is also a pain.
Best Thai food in Chicago. Thoughtful complex dishes with beautiful flavors
I wanted to take my friend out to dinner for his birthday. I know that his favorite food is Thai Cuisine, so I did some investigating and found this awesome place which had outstanding reviews. We went there met the very awesome chef had a wonderful 5 course meal. I highly recommend “Herb”. Your palate will definitely appreciate it.
The food tasted amazing and the service was impeccable, including multiple visits to our table by the Chef. I will definitely return to this place often!
The food is just outstanding. So unusual, fresh, delicious. Loved everything I tasted. Portions were perfect for enjoying all 3 courses without leaving starved or uncomfortable.
Service was terrible. They are so, so sweet but just couldn't get things done properly. The 5 people in our party were never served at the same time. We had a 10 minute wait between when 4 people got their food and the 5th person got theirs. Took 40 minutes till they brought our check (the place was almost empty by that time). Yes, we asked several times.
They are still a BYOB, which is lovely since we could bring exactly what we like at an affordable price. But they left it on the table without ever bringing a cork screw or glasses. Again, just terrible service.
Overall, the food made the experience worth doing. But this is some of the (sweetest but) worst service I've had in Chicago in years.
Service was very poor so we will not be going back.
They switched up the menu when we got there. Very limited not what was represented on their website. Very unprofessional. Prices were also higher than represented on website. Not very good value. I wouldn’t go back.
Very slow service, took over 30 minutes to take our order and we had to ask them (wasn’t super crowded).
They were out of the majority of the menu items that we came there for. This was 7pm on a Saturday in winter.
Wasted a total of 45 minutes and left without eating. At least we did BYOB which held us over.
Service was VERY slow. Took over 3 hours for the 3 course menu plus we added dessert. Food was delicious, a little over priced. Lots of confusion with servers.
Wonderful flavors! Great food!
Wonderful and beautiful food, great and unexpected flavors. Staff is somewhat disorganized, but a great restaurant
Maybe it was NYE, but the service was sub-part, and the food was okay and not enough. BYOB could be a good thing, but for nights like NYE, they should have some offering. Overall, it was an underwhelming experience.
Loved the food, not a huge soup guy but the curry based soup they had was outstanding. Prawns and Pork belly also great.
A friend went the vegetarian route, which was good, but packed quite a bit of heat, so be weary
What a find! This restaurant is wonderful—the food is just sublime. The ambiance is nice, it’s conversation-friendly, and it is reasonably priced, too. BYOB.
Wonderfully inventive and delicious food. We took a friend who is a Vegan and she had a wonderful time with many choices.
Chef Patty always brings the flavor and the beauty. I'm so lucky to have Herb in my neighborhood.
Everything was terrific! I will be going back with my family again next month, as there will be a new menu released then.
Herb is the best gourmet Thai restaurant in Chicago. The flavors and presentation of dishes can compete with the top five dining places in Chicago but for a fraction of the price. Herb has incredible good at affordable prices! Can’t wait yo check out their new Winter menu!
What a wonderful restaurant! The food was perfect and the plating was gorgeous. We were a party of 4 and each ordered the 5 course prix fixe. I thought it might be too much, but it wasn't. I would have hated to miss out on anything we ordered. We will be going back (soon)!
Going to Herb is like giving yourself the best possible gift. I brought friend from out of town and as usual we had a wonderful meal terrific warm and friendly service and a perfect evening. If you have not been to Herb treat yourself and go. You will not be disappointed.
Delicious inventive cuisine. Not you usual Thai food. The mushroom soup is amongst the best soups I have eaten. The crispy shrimp is unique. Vegetarian options are outstanding.
Outstanding food. Every bite was delicious. From the betel leaves to the mushroom soup the food is memorable. Love it, can’t wait to go back.
We arrived on time for our 7 pm reservation and were seated immediately. We were a party of four. Our orders were taken promptly but it took nearly two hours for the first two of our six appetizers to arrive. Three others arrived about 30 minutes later. The sixth (a soup) never arrived. We didn't finish our meal until four hours after our arrival.
We have been going to Herb since they opened and now they have expanded. Once again, we love the food, the concept, and the service. However, the noise level has become unbearable, even though we had a table for 4 in the corner, meaning there was not a table on either side of us, just on one side.I could not hear my female companion across the table from me. Perhaps it was a Saturday night but we did have an earlier reservation.
I adore this restaurant. Not only is it BYOB, but the staff is incredible and the food insanely delicious. On top of all that, it has to be one of the best deals in town. $55 for 5 full size courses? Absolutely worth the journey.
Excellent flavors. Portions were small but each bite was special.
We had high hopes for this restaurant, expecting a hidden gem and enthusiastic about the BYOB option. It is a creative prix fixe menu, but they didn't have two of the dishes we would have liked to try. The only things that were exceptional were the famed mushroom soup and the desserts. Otherwise, it was good, but not great. The wait staff was eager to please, but seemed quite scattered the night we were there.
