Sunday night is a prix fixe menu with one salad, one entree, and one desseert - which we had forgotten. Not our preferred style. The salad was fine, the bouillabaisse was good not great, and the apple tart was competent. Service was correct and pleasant without being particularly warm. Overall, it was fine....but we'll remember not to go on Sunday nights again.
I had not been to this restaurant in a few years, but it was amazing. The filet of sole I had with a browned butter sauce was so delicious. The persimmons cake for dessert was also fresh and seasonal, loved it. Will definitely come back even though I have moved out of the neighborhood.
Another wonderful family dinner. Outstanding service and food. This is my family’s favorite restaurant. Many happy memories and many more to come.
As always, good food, well prepared and the service is consistently good. Menus change frequently. Wonderful meal
Excellent meal on a busy Friday night. Great service person. Fair wages paid, no tipping. Homemade bread & butter.
Intimate quiet restaurant with artfully mixed ingredients—one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Excellent wine recommendations. This being the Bay Area, it’s hard to get high marks for “value,” but at least every penny spent is well worth it.
Service was fantastic, but food was horrible.
Food was very good, but a bit expensive for what you get.
It was very to accommodate a vegan patron at a family style Friend Chicken Sunday dinner. Every thing was very good but took a star off for heavy tough biscuits
Sublime. Innovative. Delicious. Such inadequate words to describe a wonderful meal. I look forward to the next time!
Loved our evening! We were celebrating my wife's birthday (just the two of us) and had a fantastic dining experience: friendly, warm but very professional service, excellent food across all 4 courses and just generally a great low-key vibe in the restaurant. A little chaotic upon arrival just because a number of folks gathered and waiting for their tables to open up, but once seated all extremely pleasant. Very much looking forward to returning.
Food was great but quantities were small. Not always the case however. We always enjoy our visits.
Great service and good quality ingredients but portions are small given the prices. Thank goodness for the bread or we would have left hungry. Extensive wine options; the by the glass pours seem small for the price. Getting one of the less expensive bottles might be a better option if your party can agree on a wine. The decor is very basic though it is welcoming.
Food was tasty. Space was comfortable. Enjoyable meal. Would return.
We love Homestead! Innovative, delicious flavors that still feel very accessible and honest. A great ambience - buzzy but homey.
Food is delicious, Pecan pie was stellar but all pretty pricey. Sadly, we couldn’t help but notice that we were the only apparent folks of color in the place — for which we blame gentrification — and the manager went around and gave a personal touch and light conversation to all the tables but ours — for which we blame white supremacy. Anyway, glad I went to check it off my list of places to try but probably won’t be back.
Excellent food and service. Also, we could hear each other speak, which is not the case at many restaurants these days.
Wonderful place. Amazing food. They were able to accommodate my food sensitivities and were very knowledgeable about the menu
Food was original and delicious. The insistence on farm to table goodness was very much in evidence.
Servers were delightful and attentive in there Halloween finery. A thoroughly enjoyable dinner
The Julia Child tribute was right on target. Best coq a vin I ever ate including my wife's excellent rendition of Julia's very long recipe. Whole meal delicious including the house wine. Service, atmosphere all at the highest East Bay standards.
Love Sunday dinners! Always different and always executed so well.
Very good food. Just quite noisy ....
Great food, service, variety. A DOWN HOME FEEL MAKING YOU ALWAYS WELCOME
The food was impeccably prepared and presented and the taste was amazing. I have eaten hundreds of restaurant meals around the world and this ranked with the best. The service matched the food. Bistro ambiance and Michelin level food.
Service was beyond indifferent. Slow, unresponsive and often just ignoring customers. The fact that this a no-tip restaurant may be why.
Good was good but not exceptional. $39 for 1/4 of a ribeye though was a little much. Husband left still hungry.
Way too noisy
Went with Chef’s tasting menu that is the ‘family styled feast’ and includes four courses with a tasting of each. We had a prawn allergy and a prawn addiction and the restaurant opted to treat our party of three as prawn free. We were advised the chef could add prawns safely for the prawn junkie, and they did! Was also advised of a couple wine pairings which were on point and a great coffee/tea service with dessert course which was perfect. From perfect rib-eye, crisp fish skin, fresh farm to table, soft-doughy bread, delightful goat cheese and figs...quite a delicious night. Two hour dinner for three & gratuity included. When you deserve to be treated well, inside and out, Homestead is your place.
We had a really nice time at Homestead. The food was delicious, and its presentation was beautiful. Our host and the person waiting at our table were gracious and friendly. The birthday cookies they gave to my wife were a delightful surprise, a delight that was surpassed by their delectable taste. I recommend highly Homestead in Piedmont!
Homestead is built on food made completely from scratch where quality comes first. This was my wife and my second time enjoying a phenomenal experience here and we'll surely be back.
We strongly recommend going "family style" which is more of a tasting menu experience. The menu offers too many amazing dishes to choose from and this allows you to take the guess work out and enjoy the ambiance and company as the food continues to come out!
Very small portions. I don’t drink wine and with $18 bottles of imported beer We stuck with water. Won’t be back.
My husband and I love Homestead! We have been a handful of times and are always impressed. The food is excellent and the servers are knowledgeable and friendly. I would definitely recommend!
Sunday nights are a fixed menu. The food was good but I think they should make it more known that there are NO choices to be made
Delicious food and wonderful service. Relaxed and laid-back atmosphere.
Delicious meal. Each ingredient was handled with care.
Sea bass was excellent and great wine selection by the glass.
Great service, great food, great vibe. Can’t wait to return.
The food was too salty.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Every person in the restaurant was very kind and accommodating. Our waitress was very knowledgeable on the wine-list and gave us good recommendations. The food was excellent, we ordered way too much food and loved all of it! I would definitely come back again!
We went for A Sunday supper. The meal was incredible, very filling and a great value. The service was excellent, everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable. Really nice atmosphere, overall a great experience. We will be back!
