House of Prime Rib
definitely an experience you need to try when you visit SF! amazing food, the prime rib was absolutely delicious and the sides were superb. There's not a lot of choice but you don't need multiple choices. The food is absolutely outstanding
Great everything! This place truly did not disappoint. The meats were so flavorful, delicious cuts. Don’t miss the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach and try to save room for dessert. Such a great experience all around. It was perfect for my boyfriend’s birthday!
My husband and I came to have our valentines dinner. We The food & service was amazing . Soo good. Highly recommend. Cant wait to come back.
The prime rib cuts were very substantial but a little rarer than we preferred. Will order medium vice medium rare next time ro avoid that. Salad was excellent in presentation, quality and quantity. Sides were flavorful but creamed spinach was a little salty. Noise level from neighboring diners was really loud. One compensating factor was Matt who gave us very good service.
Excellent service as always and the food is simply extraordinary. The best Prime Rib in Northern California if not the world.
It’s usually a good visit but felt rushed on this visit.
We didn’t get our cocktails and felt rushed with getting our dinner. Food is good.
Awesome food and service. Everyone was friendly. Recommend making reservation. Checked in early and was sat before our actual reservation.
Everything is great except that the food wait time is a bit long.
We have been going to HOPR for Valentine's Day with a couple of our best friends for years. There is no other place we would rather go. The food is great, the service is great. Make sure you plan ahead and make your reservations if you're in a rush. Otherwise, the wait for walk-in could be a couple hours but this place is worth it.
Valentines Day - double date. It was a bit loud. Service was great and the food was delicious as always.
Prime rib was excellent. Very disappointed we couldn't get any corn bread until we were finished eating. Handing out a rose to the ladies was a nice touch for Valentine's Day. Happy to see that they're no longer asking to box up your leftovers as soon as you put your fork and knife down.
HOPR never fails to satisfy our cravings for an excellent steak dinner!
House of Prime Rib is always fabulous love love it there it is our go to place the prices are great the amount of food you get is phenomenal I always feel like royalty when I go thank You
We went for Valentine’s Day and birthday celebration. The food was on point. Martinis were amazing. Couldn’t ask for a better experience.
Incredible food and great service!! I can’t wait to go again. We were happy that we went earlier before it got too busy as the noise level gets loud when all tables are full.
Service felt rushed for a 10pm reservation.
Service and food was overall good, we were unfortunately seated in the same room with this group of very loud and belligerent group. This group was so loud i pretty much know their life stories. They were banging on their table and clapping loudly for nothing in particular and acting for the most part like drunken wild baboons.
Had the manager made their table rounds like they usually do, i would have had the opportunity to ask the manager to do something about it but the manager never came around. I opted not to bring it up to our server as she was already having a hectic busy night and did not want to add more stress.
The prime ribs beef were beautifully rare and wonderful, as were most of the sides. The creamed spinach was too salty, tho, maybe too much bacon. Our waitperson was wonderful.
Great food, great service. As it was in the beginning, so it is today!
Came in for dinner with my party of 3 last night excited to try HOPR after hearing amazing things about it for years. Had the House cut with creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. The prime rib here is a level rarer than what you order so if you want a medium rare, order a medium, etc. The dinner also came with a table side tossed salad, warm bread to share, and Yorkshire pudding. I heard you can take an extra thin slice home, but our waiter said that wasn’t a possibility anymore for some reason.
Loved the creamed spinach. It had some bacon crumble in it which gave it a little extra texture to it. Mashed potatoes were creamy and perfect, jus was amazing. The prime rib itself was good, but not as amazing as I thought. I also noticed that our slices were dramatically different sizes even though we all ordered the same cut.
What’s stopping me from giving this place a perfect score is the service. Our waiter didn’t walk us through the menu when I asked him directly, he spilled salad everywhere when he tossed it, he was very short with us, and just overall very unprofessional and lax.
Overall, I still had an enjoyable dinner with friends, but not worth waiting two months in advance for. The experience and ambiance factor were shy of mediocre. The food was very good and I’d recommend trying it at least once. Hopefully, my next visit will be a lot better.
Best joint in town. Like coming here early on Sundays. Jackie served us up, Jacob sliced the beef nice and thick, and manager Sean kept the tonics in full supply. Can’t think of a better place to eat your last meal if the Grim Reaper slips a note under your hotel room door.........
My family and I visited HOPR for the first time and we were lucky to get the reservation online. We like the quality of the food and were happy with the service. However, it took 45 minutes to get our steak after we had our salad and bread served. My husband ordered the house of prime rib cut but received a very thin cut.
It was very noisy, we couldn't hear each other (not the restaurants fault). The people sit next to us obviously had too much to drink. They talked and laughed so loud the entire night even after they finished eating.
Had a great time with our friends and kids. Service was spot on!
Fantastically awesome! The House of Prime Rib Is a life-changing experience!
House of Prime Rib is a great place to celebrate with friends and family, My party had a great time.
The food was excellent as well as the overall service. Really enjoyed the evening!
Definitely will be coming back nd letting all of our friends know that it was a wonderful experience.
Great place with great service. We enjoyed our prime rib and fish dinners. All sides are included so it was a good value as well. It’s very popular so it can be crowded and noisy.
Always a good time at the HOPR. Good food, ambiance, and service!
Love HOPR! Been coming for over a decade. Always delivers!
The whole experience was wonderful. From the spot-on gin martinis to start, down to the last delicious bite of prime rib, this dinner was scrumptious, delectable and perfect in every way. It was everything we could have hoped for after hearing how amazing House of Prime Rib is. Will be back for sure. Highly recommend if one seeks the best-possible rendition of this classic meal. Cannot say enough good things about it.
Wonder place to eat and enjoy any occasion. I have been many times.
So dang good. I'm impressed every time. One of my favorite meals in S.F.
This SF classic is one I'd been wanting to visit for years. Heck, my MOM came here on special occasions when she was young.
Well, it did not fail to delight. An efficient operation, elegantly presented, and delicious. Echoes of the 1950's meat palace it was and remains. Do go. We'll be back.
Super service, great food, HOPR never disappoints.
Although we arrived late due to multiple car wrecks heading to the city, they were kind enough to hold our reservation. We were very grateful (and hungry) after traveling 1 hour and 40 minutes to get there. The place was packed with people waiting to be seated. Ordered three different cuts of prime rib. Everyone loved the meat. The salad was good, not fantastic as others mention. Spinach cream was ok. The baked potato was warm, not piping hot so butter didn’t melt once applied as it should. We also ordered three different deserts. I only tasted the pecan pie which was better than most. The overall experience was enjoyable because the service was excellent and our server was on top of everything. We each received an extra thin slice of prime rib which was even better than the regular cut.
This is definitely a dining experience worth booking.
Classic SF institution for prime beef dining. Very reasonable wine list and professional service
Amazing taste. Couples have to wait longer than a group to be seated. No chairs to sit while waiting. Everything happens super fast and it is too crowded so doesn't really feel like a romantic date there. Still recommend for the taste of the rib.
Going to the House of Prime Rib is an annual experience we look forward to with excitement. The food is always good. The service is quick but excellent. This year we noticed that the portions of the side dishes were smaller. Why did they do this?
We love the creamed spinach, the mashed potatoes with gravy and the Yorkshire pudding. Can't they afford to give us a decent sized portion?
