Hugo's Frog Bar & Chop House - Des Plaines
Nice restaurant good food great venue. We love our luncheons there.
The service was outstanding, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.
The food was not as great as it was the last time we were there but over all it was still good.
Outstanding! Always great food that is only surpassed by the awesome service!! Can’t wait to come back again, and again!!
Our second Anniversary was very nice at Hugo’s Frog Bar & Chip House. The food was excellent as was the service. The free creme’ Brûlée was a nice touch.
This was our first time at Hugo's. We went for our wedding anniversary and to celebrate a job promotion. We were very impressed with the service and the food! Everything was served with perfect timing throughout our meal. Our server was very attentive and had a great sense of humor. There was great attention to detail. We didn't feel rushed and were encouraged to sit and enjoy our dessert and coffee. Excellent experience and we look forward to going back!
Very good food. Crab cake is wonderful, a good amount of crab is used. Service is impeccable.
Would I recommend Hugo's to a friend? I've brought friends there! Had the lobster roll which was so good! Friend had the chicken and andouille sausage. Had that before and it also, was/is so good! Our server #11285 was awesome. Can't remember his name. He remembered us. Served us before. Hugo's never disappoints.
We’ve been there many times but this night was a disappointment, the steaks honestly had no flavor or pizzazz therefore making the dinner way too expensive for what it was worth !
We were in the area and decided it would be great to eat at our favorite lunch spot. We all ordered the Filet Sliders which were perfectly done to each of our tastes. The terrific house fries made it even better. Plenty to take home and save room for the Macadamia Turtle Pie for dessert. Service always efficient, friendly, and attentive.
There were periods during our meal the noise level was very distracting.
There were hits and misses. The steaks and fish were great! Our waiter was personable. I wouldn't order the calamari again. I've had much better. It was chewy; possible overcooked. The mushrooms were ok, a bit salty for my taste and the green beans were way overcooked. We should have sent them back. The double baked potato was very good and so was the mac & cheese. The chocolate mousse pie was outstanding and big enough for 10 people. The place is quite loud but you're in a casino environment so not surprising. I've been here before and would come again but would select differently.
Food was not hot, barely warm. Had to send steak back to get heated up.
Good quality meal as always. Good service
A little less than usual. The steak was very chewy and lacked usual flavor.
My wife and I was celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary by spending at River's Casino and made dinner reservation at Hugo's Frog Bar & Chop House. We arrived at the resturant a hour earlier for dinner reservation and was seated immediately. We informed our server we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the service and attention she paid us was outstanding. The food was delicious and my wife and I are truly endedted to the entire staff who made our wedding celebration a night to to remeber. And we made a promise to definitely return for an encore. Once again thank you Hugo's Frog Bar & Chop House for a wonderful evening.
All good but not for an intimate dinner. Too loud!!
Too loud, noise level needs improvement.
The ambiance was great. It was the perfect location to have dinner near our hotel and inside of the Casino without it feeling like dinner at a Casino. The steak was average, although they ran out of my husband's choice of steak. That was disappointing, but his second choice was cooked to his satisfaction. They ran out of the key lime pie, which is my favorite dessert. I had hoped to enjoy it in lieu of birthday cake that evening, and no other dessert on the menu fit my tastebuds.
The wait staff was exceptional, and the food was good. Not one of my best restaurants, but I may go again one day.
Excellent food. Attentive and professional service. High noise level.
If you want a good steak and don’t mind paying an arm and a leg for it, this place might be for you. The steaks are top quality and are are enormous. The side dishes (al la carte of course) are as big as the steaks - the twice baked potato we had would have fed a table of four easily. And we saw an ice cream cake dessert served at the table next to ours that would have kept a dozen kids busy for quite a while. The atmosphere was energetic to say the least. We had trouble talking across the table at times. Unfortunately, we were seated in a table along the wall that was very drafty and he’d to have our coats on for most of the meal (our fault for not asking to be relocated). The bottom line is a very expensive, but good (not great) meal in a drafty, noisy and classy place.
As always dinner was outstanding and we will be back soon!
Dined alone while in the Chicago area for business. Good service and decent quality food overall. I was torn between a steak or seafood. Asked the waiter about the quality of their crab cakes, he said they were great....should have gone for the steak.
Had mussels for an app and they were wonderful, skip the crab cakes!
Excellent service and steak medallions! Thanks!
It’s one of my favorite places. The dinning room is small so noise and space are always difficult.
Service was excellent Disappointed with my lobster order but they took it off the Bill!
Being they only have 2 sizes big and huge!
It was dryed out ordered the smaller version of huge size! Steak and crab legs were out standing!
Found out you can order Oysters Rockefeller wich was a treat as well! Creme brulee was awesome!
Friendly service, quick seating, delicious food
What more can you ask?
Great service and amazing food. Their side dishes and desserts are huge so make sure to get them with the intention of sharing...thankfully our waiter warned us of this ahead of time
Everything was perfect service and hospitality were everything and more
Great food and service but expensive. Expect $100+ per person with a few bottles of wine closer to $150
Service was exceptional. Waiters were very attentive and we didn’t have to ask for anything. Water was constantly refilled and our tablecloth cleared of crumbs.
The manager came to our table to inquire about the service and food. The second time was a bit much when he left his business card with us.
Love Hugo’s - this time the lobster salad wasn’t as good as in past experiences nor was the Tuna salad. In both cases, there wasn’t much fish on the plate as we’ve enjoyed in prior visits. Not sure why but we will be back - it’s one of our favorite stops!
My husband and I are in a pleasure trip connecting through O’Hare. This restaurant was rated very highly. The service was excellent. It was so nice having a booth and we could talk! I was so much looking forward to the lobster roll in the east coast! The lobster was wet and rubbery, and spicy! I was so much looking forward to it and disappointed. I didn’t order the lobster salad because it stayed it was spicy, no where on the sandwich did it say it. My husband had the barley soup which was very salty. The food we ordered was disappointed! Especially considering the ratings and price
Filet sliders, service and atmosphere all the top. Everything just perfect.
Relatively loud. Could not hold conversation. Had party of 6
Second experience at this location. Service is always impeccable. Food top notch. All items cooking to perfection. For a special occasion and high level meals this is the place to come.
It was our first time coming to this restaurant and having frog legs...they were so tender and perfect! Also loved the rest of the food, my husband and I shared a 14oz filet mignon, Brussels sprouts, mashed potato and creamed spinach. The steak sauce was amazing too. We were about to finish and the server came with a seasonal no bake cheesecake free and huge that was so good and sweet of them...Great food and big servings and great service!!
My girlfriends and I were celebrating a birthday. The food and service was great. We were happy with our experience.
Hugo’s was my favorite place for celebrations. Service and food was good as usual. I was inform this time that they don’t do anything for celebration and don’t offer small desserts with candles.... For $200 lunch for 3 people I expect a little extra to made the person of honor feel special.
