Wew come every year for my husbands birthday. It is his very favorite.
Very good Italian restaurant with prices to match. Place is small and a bit crowded, but acceptable, overall. Wine list is good, but not great and could use some work. The food was excellent.
Ill Tenillo is the restaurant I gage all other restaurants by. I look for Ambiance Service and Food quality and quantity. IT hits a home run on all!!!
Excellent service, food, and attention to detail. Would go back anytime.
The best!! Amazing service and excellent food.
Best Italian in NYC. Romantic, quant & delicious food
Great service and food. Will definitely return. Great midtown location. Don't arrive too early because the bar area is a bit small.
Very popular and accordingly a bit busy but very comfortable.
Fod was good basically. Pasta was a bit over boiled but still taste good.
People serving meals were very friendly.
Want to recommend friends.
Cramped quarters, but excellent food!
Can't wait to come back!!! Great experience!!! And the food, THE FOOD!!!
Top notch service from the moment we walked in the door until the time we left. Excellent food, cozy atmosphere, superb staff.
Great experience at Il Tenello. Very busy night with several large business parties and others that pushed a line out the front door for a few minutes. Since this was our first visit, I was expecting the worst to get our table for 2 reservation. Not to worry. John, one of the owners, managed the front of the house to seat us at a great table right on time.
The service at Il Tenello is something to behold. Three tiers of servers move between tables providing detailed descriptions of specials as well as answering questions about menu items. No empty dish lasts more than a minute before being cleared. John oversees the dining room’s every movement and directed his servers as needed to assure great service.
So on to the food. Everything was delicious. Clams Casino, Tri colored salad, pastas were excellent and good portions. Wine list is pricey for most selections but we had a very good Chianti Classico at a decent price for up scale mid-town Manhattan.
Il Tenello will definitely be a new go to Italian Manhattan restaurant for us.
Photo is Wilson, great server.
As always, an amazing meal at Il Tinello!!!
Very classy gentlemen servers. They are truly the best of the best. They know how to treat a lady with respect and OUTSTANDING food. Dessert cart brought to table. My husband and I eat here everytime we are in NYC.
Great food, great service
The food and service were excellent.
Extremely overpriced restaurant. Exploites tourists and locals alike. I would expect at this price point all the pasta is homemade- which is not the case. Glasses of cheap crummy wine 20 to $24 a glass?Wow! I almost fell on the floor when I found out a small dish of berries was $21.95...Truly I thought there was a mistake but I was told "no they are organic berries" so I paid a dollar a berry! Really poor offerings for the price. ..so clearly you're better off walking 3 blocks up to much better value restaurants.
Quality food, well prepared, great variety, fantastic wine list and a strong desire to satisfy the customer. Excellent Italian!
As always excellent food coupled with outstanding service in a quality environment makes for a fabulous evening. We always look forward to our time at Il Tinello.
Wonderful food, service, ambience. Consistently excellent.
This restaurant would deserve Five Stars in every category except for the fact that we were forced to wait for half an hour beyond our reservation time in a very small, hot, jam-packed vestibule before being seated. Why not be honest with diners who are willing to spend hundreds of dollars at your restaurant?? If we’d been told that our reservation would have to be at 7:30 instead of 7:00 we still would have come, and then we would not have had our evening ruined by the long, uncomfortable wait at the outset.
Restaurant was overcrowded. Staff was not very attentive, and we felt they were just pushing us through the meal. Food was generally ok, but hot antipasto looked like it had been sitting around before it was served. Once we had finished our meal the staff hovered over us, plainly trying to get us to leave so they could turn over the table. All in all, an ok experience but overpriced for what was offered, and we would not return.
Crowded entrance / bar area made an uncomfortable 20 minute wait for our reservation that was at 6:30. Wait staff was on top of things -- plenty of bread/ olives/ cheese brought to the table before ordering. Wine list mark up was slightly higher than most equivalent italian restaurants. Food was very good/ not great. Was slightly annoying that the maitre d stopped by twice around 8:30 to see "how the dinner was" which was really a " i have people waiting for your table" comment - when they did not seat us till 6:50. They should expect 2 hours or slightly more for dinner.
Great food & service
Waiters were overbearing and thought they knew what you wanted or needed. I was forced to check my coat and then froze during my meal. Restroom was downstairs and not convenient for my recent knee surgery.
This cozy and elegant restaurant puts a high premium on excellent service with an extremely accommodating and knowledgeable waitstaff; not only did they gladly adjust their dishes for one person in our party with allergies, but offered to cook "whatever you wanted" in any style requested. Appetizers, main course, sides, and dessert were all exquisite -- can't wait to dine here again!
Outstanding and consistent. A pleasure every time.
The burrata appetiser was very good, the spaghetti entree excellent but the gnocchi was rather tough, stodgy and difficult to eat/digest; we’re not sure if they messed up or if that’s how it’s served in NYC. Our expectation, through numerous other dining experiences, is that gnocchi are “little pillows”; light, fluffy, almost melt in the mouth. The fromage sauce accompanying the gnocchi was excellent. The service was very efficient.
Incredibly professional waitstaff. Very welcoming atmosphere with wonderful traditional Italian food.
Outstanding service coupled with excellent food. This restaurant always delivers
Every single trip to NYC includes a dinner or 2 at this amazing restaurant! We’ve been dining here for 5 years in a row - at least 3 to 4 times a year. Absolutely the best food and the most incredible experience NYC has to offer.
Food and service were excellent. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting an unhurried quiet excellent meal.
Excellent service & food!
One of our favorite places to enjoy dinner. Great service from the moment you walk in until you leave.
Just excellent, as always. Though the place was slammed, John and crew did a great job of providing the warm hospitality that always makes this restaurant special.
We go there whenever in NYC. This time we went for my birthday. As always food and service was excellent..
We will be back!
I have been coming her for over 20 years. The food quality and level of attentive service has never fallen below excellent!
Best food we had in NYC. Can not recommend enough. You won’t be disappointed.
Outstanding food and service!! Next time we are in NY, we will return!
Came highly recommended, but I wasn’t that impressed. We weren’t seated until 25 minutes after our reservation time. Virtually no space to wait so it felt squished. Burrata appetizer was fine but nothing special. Pasta entree tasted great, small portion though and quite expensive. Service was attentive, just not my style: loud, kind of pushy (I guess that’s NYC though—we were visiting from vastly more casual Seattle), low-key sexist, very old school. And the weirdest Manhattan (the cocktail) presentation I’ve ever had, served in a wine glass with a whole scoop of ice. Overall did not live up to the hype.
