Il Vicinato Ristorante
This place is a gem. Great food and service. Cannot go wrong with any selection, but the antipasto salad and the gnocchi are to die for. Do not say no to the bread basket, just don't, it's a carb cheaters dream.
For perfect Italian food you can’t go wrong here. Always have one of The specials Drinks are well made. Staff are friendly gracious and proficient. Just good old world Italian ambiance
This is our favorite restaurant. There are unique and flavorful dishes. There are always specials that one can choose.
Terrific dining experience, as always. Our entrees were sensational..truly homemade goodness. Service was attentive, friendly. A great place in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood.
Great meal! Great Proportions! Great value! Great Service!
I always love coming to this place... a real gem in the heart of a real Chicago neighborhood!
Always a very good meal with attentive service. Very casual with savory classics.
Great stuffed clams and Manicotti. The cannolis are some of the best I’ve ever had. But the Osso Bucco was awful. A tasteless over cooked stew mess. Service always great.
Great food but we never got our salad. Portions are smaller than they used to be. Otherwise, great.
Old school solid italian food. From the perfect bread sticks to the, wow, how can broccoli taste this good, nothing disappoints. Deep bar and varied wine list. Must try is the gumbo when in season. Seems strange to say at an italian joint, but it is a real treat.
This neighborhood place (pun intended) has been around for quite a while. It is still so wonderful. Good food, wonderful ambiance and a great place to meet friends. Love our visits there
We read the reviews on open table so we took the long transit ( train, bus) trip from downtown. It’s in little Italy but the area from the bus stop to the restaurant is sketchy. We wanted the food to be great but parts of it were average and bland. The food lacked flavor. The baked oysters and bread were great. The salads were only okay. The place looks authentic and the staff and menu also seemed Italian. Don’t think I’d make the trek there again and enjoyed the evening
Very comfortable and great staff. Food was excellent. Meat was perfectly cooked.
Great food, great service, fair price
I don’t comment on places but really a true gem and a great family restaurant.
My server was no good. I asked for a soda and my server took forever. Hispanic dude thinking he's Italian. Forgot his name is how bad he was. He was tall and had glasses. He cared about serving the bigger tables then ours. Second time here. Not going back because service is very important. Big props to the bus boy though he was way better then our server. They should switch jobs. I should of gave the busboy the tip instead.
This was our first visit to Il Vicinato. The food was fantastic and the service was outstanding. We'll be back!
The place never disappoints. Food is always delicious. The servers are attentive and accommodating. I love the note on the menu that says if you don’t see and we can make its yours. All restaurants should have that attitude
Amazing food great service
The atmosphere was great. Very old school and the staff is exceptionally friendly. Food was delicious and the portions were fantastic. Extensive wine list and a rotating menu.
Definitely a great place for a date or any occasion. There were birthdays there as well and it’s just a nice cozy location for fine Italian dining without the downtown price tag.
Wonderfully romantic. Superb food (veal limone especially enjoyed), great service, cozy ambience. One of my favorites!
Great warm atmosphere and great classic Italian dishes
Wonderful, old school Italian. Completely authentic. The food is excellent. Service superb. Highly, highly recommend.
Every time I eat at IL Vicinato restaurant I feel at home. Always great service, delicious food and a home ambiance. I am not of Italian descent, but my heart and stomach feels Italian!
Been going here for over 20 years. Used to be more of a formal environment (adult casual / business casual style). Seems to have adapted to the changing times and become more of a family friendly atmosphere. The food has always been outstanding and the weekly specials are truly authentic. The wait staff is very attentive and the host friendly. Did I say the food is outstanding? Needs repeating - the food is AMAZING! Be sure to make a reservation as the wait on the weekend can get long. Highly recommended.
Grew up in this neighborhood and always come back to dine at this restaurant! Love it!
Old school Italian restaurant with outstanding homemade food. Everything was delicious and service was top notch. The back dining room takes you back in the day. Beautiful wooden bar.
In from Cleveland and they treated us as long lost freinds. Great service and staff!
Great old school Italian done right. Service was fantastic. Prices were reasonable. Food was delicious. We each had pasta & shared Chicken Vesuvio. Chicken was simple perfection. Chocolate mousse cake to round out the meal. We’ll be back!!
We were running a little late for a reservation on blizzard Sunday. The staff at Vicinato basically kept the entire restaurant open for our group. The service and food was excellent. The veal parm was so tender you could cut it with a fork. Twice baked clams....These are a must order. Deserts were all amazing as well. Well worth the 20 min cab ride from Downtown.
Good, old-fashioned comfort food with an charm of a restaurant that hasn't updated the decor. We love it!
Went for the 1st time with a small group - totally enjoyable. Great food, nice cocktails and friendly service.
Great Place !!!!
Good food and a really nice welcoming atmosphere. Been away for a long time but happy to return
A truly sensational dining experience. Il Vicinato is my favorite restaurant in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood (an area with six or seven other terrific Italian restaurants). Beautifully prepared food (crab cakes are not to be missed, veal limone is to die for). Great and welcoming service. A cozy and warm ambience. Love this place!
I never disappointed here. This time had stuffed pork chops, they are out of this world!
Fabulous food. Friendly service.
Love this place!!
Spectacular authentic Italian food! Best bandannas foster in Chicago!
Totally reliable Italian and creative, too. Great gravy, great polenta. A nice twist on traditional dishes, and some unexpected treats, such as the walleye with mango salsa special. Fish was perfect. The bucatini pancetta was not a combo we are used to seeing and it was terrific.
We love this place. Good Italian food, not pretentious. Good value. Service is great, everyone is so nice.
