Jacques' Brasserie at L'Auberge Chez Francois
Always a wonderful meal! Great service and wonderful ambiance.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our "Date Night" at Jacques' Brasserie recently. It was our second time dining there and we were thrilled that the greeting when we walked in, dining service and food were all just as wonderful as the first time we dined there. We really like this cozy restaurant!
There's nothing better on a summer day--or any day, for that matter--than to approach L'Auberge Chez Francois at the end of a beautiful drive through Great Falls. You're suddenly transported to another world, one in which gardens are perfect and the ambience is French. I introduced two (of three) friends to the restaurant yesterday; they were suitable impressed and vowed to return. Driven indoors by the heat, we enjoyed brunch in Jacques' Brasserie, where at 11:30 a.m. we were the only customers. An hour later the room was full, and the hustle and bustle made conversation difficult, so it pays to go early. My omelet was packed with mushrooms, and my friends loved their mussels and raved about the fries that accompanied them. We couldn't resist dessert, knowing that the special Peach Melba--when have you last seen that on a menu?--would include fruit that was perfectly poached. To our delight, a complimentary dessert with a candle was served, to celebrate our reunion of friends. A stroll through the gardens completed a fun brunch--then it was back to the real world, with memories that will last.
My husband and I got a bottle of wine off the recommended list and the tenderloin entree which were both amazing ! Despite the noise level we still love going to this place for a nice date night out.
Good service, good food.
Room was noisy making it hard to talk. Tables very close together. Service was haphazard and inattentive. Had to ask for a wine list and had to wait too long for the final bill. Food was average at best. One of us had the seafood pasta. Pasta was fine and homemade but the scallops were over cooked and the dish was seasoned with too much Parmesan and garlic. My dinner mate had steak frites which was over cooked and poorly sliced. Wines were fine. The appetizer charcuterie, which we shared, was fine but not exciting.
Our server was not up to par. Asked us to order before we barely sat down. He was so inattentive the bus person served us two courses usually the service is fabulous. He was also very hard to understand. Everything else was fine but a bit too much bread I g on the soft shell crab. We there frequently
First time at Jacques although I’ve dined at the main restaurant about 6 times. My wife and I were both underwhelmed. My seafood pasta was just ok as was her rainbow trout. And the waiter was perfunctory, just doing his job with not enough attention to us. Disappointing since the main restaurant has been a favorite for over 20 years for special occasions. I hope my experience was just an aberration as I live the place.
We decided to go to Jacques' Brasserie for our anniversary. It turned out to be a great decision. The food, service and atmosphere were all wonderful and up to the occasion. We shared the smoked salmon plate and ceasar salad, and then had the boulabase and beef for main courses, followed by dessert and complimentary champaign (thank to Danny). We strongly recommend Jacques' Brasserie to others.
Delicious food and wonderful, attentive and professional service—as always! Just wish the Brasserie was more spacious.
Service is wonderful here. It is a great place to meet friends as the staff make you feel as if you are a valued guest in their home.
We always enjoy the food and service, but this time we did reserve for the brasserie. The server did not understand english and did mistake our drink and more importantly our food. We told our server that we are sharing a dish then he brought two of the same dish. When we showed this to the manager he did not charge two dish , which was great. Never experienced this mess up at L'auberge. Most probably the server was new....
Jacques outside on a moderate summer day is memorable. We sat out in an area between his beautiful vegetable gardens and the Brasserie. It was mid afternoon and we could still get the brunch menu which has lots of interesting choices. Summer also means fresh vegetables from that garden so make sure to try a salad. Jacques was out and about busy making his guests feel welcome which adds to the ambience. It is worth a drive to eat up at Chez, or downstairs at the more casual Jacques. The food is authentic country French and always good. His staff are attentive and personal.
Spending a sunny sunday afternoon having lu nch outside on the beautiful patio of Jacques' Brasserie is a delight. Good food, good wines, and wonderful ambience.
Lovely brunch. Ambiance, food, service -- all first rate
Good food in a nice atmosphere (a bit noisy on a Saturday night with several large groups in the small room) with pleasant, unobtrusive (and a tiny bit unpolished) service. Nice outdoor area too. I had salmon with bearnaise, cooked perfectly. Husband raved about his tournedos. Ate too much bread but it was irresistible! All in all a delightful evening, wish we lived closer to go more often.
Outstanding service and food.
Lovely outdoor seating Jacques' Brasserie at L'Auberge Chez Francois! Even though the garden is first come first serve but the manager was so kind to reserve the table for 4 of us (2 friends from DC) ahead of time since I've requested 2 weeks before when we were there to celebrate our 2 kids birthday. One of my friend is allergic to a bug bite, so we ended up moved inside the restaurant. The service is exceptional here! My DC friend had a bake lobster and it was delicious well cook! I love all the appetizers...It's the best on the menu which I usually order several dishes to share. The beef cheek bourguignon and the escargot are the best dishes, plus the cocktail tuna tartar that you must have. We are local in Mclean, VA so this is the place for us especially for any special occasion or to bring friends and relatives from out of town.
Wonderful meal, service, ambience. We’ll be back. Merci!
Nice get-together with our daughter, who lives on the West Coast and happened to be in town. We were able to have a nice conversation over delicious (as always) food and thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
Always a favorite! You cannot go wrong especially when you are celebrating. This time we had lunch in the garden which was lovely. Other times in the brasserie which has a lot of character. The service is attentive and friendly. Super!
This is the place where you remember how wonderful the meal was days after. Never fails to provide a great night out.
Perfect as always. Great for anytime you just want great food and service. It is a very comfortable atmosphere-not the formality of a more traditional fine dining restaurant but you willl always receive attentive first rate service.
The patio of the Brasserie is such a delight.
Love our neighborhood gem! The service and food are second to none and the ambiance is perfect especially since the outdoor patio has been redone and there is more seating. Jacques is so inviting and personable. Victoria is a delight to pick out wines with or to just talk about wines with. Can’t recommend highly enough.
As usual Chez François did not disappoint. We love going there.
Awesome lobster thermador! Great service! Lost Rhino IPA on tap! Love the atmosphere!
We love Jacque’s Brasserie! We have been there numerous times...especially sitting in the lovely garden for lunch and dinner with family and relatives. The French food is delicious good and the service is excellent!!! We can’t wait to come back and introduce to our DC friends in 2 weeks...
Our kids love their birthday cakes dessert from the restaurant! Thank you !!!!
Food wonderful as always and service very good
First time dining under the new umbrella. It was a spectacular night. Is there a way to close the umbrellas on such a beautiful evening???
Excellent service food bartender Pam and everything else
Most excellent in every way.
If you are in the mood for classic french cooking in a more relaxed atmosphere than Chez Francois (above), then the brasserie is a great bet. You can enjoy many of the same dishes and same great service. It is a little noisy at times but this more casual and intimate off shoot of the age old and well respected L'Auberge is a nice option for dinner or happy hour.
It was a perfect evening to sit in the garden. The food was delicious, the wine superb and the waiters moved without being noticed.
Twins birthday. We had a wonderful time and a delicious lunch.
Great food and service but should have sat outside because it was very loud inside and tough to have conversation.
Perfect experience start to finish. Sat outdoors on a beautiful night. We were there for 4 hours and all good.
Fabulous restaurant with divine food and superb ambiance. We've been going to L'Auberge since 1981 and have never once been disappointed. We are thrilled every time we go. Perfect for special occasions and just a phenomenal meal.
Definitely going back, over all experience very positive. Food was great and a great wine selection
Excellent, low key and casual version of the upstairs dining. Always fantastic and top notch service.
