Jameson's is a great local steakhouse that is so generous with portions. You may have meals for two more days after eating at Jameson's. The dinners all came with bread at the table and soup, salad, and entree. While they're "no frills," it's also great value for what you get. Dinner for five with an appetizer cost $150 (with tax and tip). Our server was also great with my husband's dairy allergy. Just a comfortable place to have a nice, non-pretentious meal.
Despite the less than perfect experience a couple of nights ago, I would recommend the restaurant for an average neighborhood quality meal at generally good pricing. It was mobbed. We had reserved for a large party and the people occupying the space allotted for us did not leave promptly at all. So, we put up with a 45 minute wait, understanding what the circumstances were and that nothing could change that. The noise level was beyond annoying anywhere you stood or sat. Servers were bustling to keep up with demands. Once seated, the noise level made it difficult to communicate with the server. Once things went into motion, one glitch after another occurred with orders. They ran out of mashed potatoes at 8PM on a Saturday, offered to substitute fries, and the fries never showed. Two of us never got our salads until we asked to have them boxed at the end of the meal. We did not blame our server nor did we short him for his efforts. What the 45 minute wait gave us was the opportunity to see the red-faced, screaming, interfering shaven-headed floor manager interfere with the organization and distribution of items leaving the open kitchen. Seen the pattern before, recognize it well. The loudmouth has no clue how to handle a crowd, his staff, and when to keep his hands off. He has no business in the business, so, maybe he's family? The hostess also was quite useless and appeared to be there only as window dressing.
Nothing is going to hurt the volume here as they are long-established and well-advertised, but, considering how long they've been around, they still should not get so complacent. Over half of the people in our party were visiting from several states away and I know that none of them will hope to dine here when they visit in the future, despite the relatively good value of the meal.
Made a 5pm reservation, had to wait 20 minutes
Place was jam packed, noisy
Biggest disappointment was that two of us ordered the same steak and they got mixed up and had to send one of them back
I’ll given them another try. While disappointing it wasn’t awful
We have been going there for years. We were disappointed this time with my husband's Cod entree.it was such a tiny portion. My salmon was at .least twice the size. Cod is not an expensive fish. The price of $22.99 was ridiculous
Not many vegetarian options, but food was good. Garlic dressing is the best!
Always a great outing
Terrific service, good food, recommended !
Alway’s a great place to dine for after work discussions and meetings. Staff is always knowledgeable and friendly. Chefs are awesome.
Our server was very rude, projects this attitude that she’s inconvenienced by just being present. I would image her tips aren’t good, maybe someone who is interested in making $$ could replace her. Had her in the past and nothing has changed. Food is okay, bar staff very good.
Dependable. An all time favorite. Love Jameson's. This or any location !!
I love this place but we made a reservation and still had to wait 40 minutes to be sat? Weird. But loved everything else.
Good food. Good service. Would definitely return.
Great food and service as always
Our server was excellent and the food was delicious
It was particularly busy, due to Valentine's. Our server did her best to keep up, but fell a little short. She didn't check in enough on our beverage order. But the food was good, and steaks were prepared correctly. Jameson's is one of our favorites, but when it is this busy, the experience is not as good. But, we'll still come back.
Very nice restaurant with a professional staff. However, for it being a "charhouse", I expected a little more from the steaks. The steaks were under-seasoned and didn't have much flavor and also very undercooked from my order. I ordered medium - slight pink center, but I got Rare to Medium-Rare at best - lots of red, no pink.
Jameson’s is tasty food nice ambiance and really good value
The restaurant ran out of mashed potatoes on Valentine’s Day by 8pm. Our reservation was for 7:30 I believe and we didn’t get seated til 8 or so. they also ran out of chicken noodle soup so I asked for a dessert to be in it’s place for my date and I. She said ok but then later told us the manager only allowed us to choose from creme brulee or key lime pie. Pretty crappy experience especially because I raved about the restaurant to my girlfriend that had never been there.
We always enjoy Jameson’s.
Waited about 1/2 hour with reservations
They were extremely busy for valentine's day so the noise level was crazy! I had a handicapped person and a child (6 total people) and they stuck us in a corner booth up a step with people just hanging in the bar it was ridiculous. In all the years coming here we have never been put in the bar. Food was good as usual, they ran out of mashed potatoes? which came with 3 people's meal and didnt say anything till the meals came. Prices we decent for the amount of food you get and it being valentine's day.
We especially enjoy it when our server is Annetta. We have always had a far better experience with Annetta.
The food was good but the service was lacking. Our waitress seemed very disinterested in taking care of us. There was barely any eye contact any time she came around and she only checked in one time while our meal was out. I felt as though we were an inconvenience to her.
Very good appetizers and wine. Service was good even though I sensed they were behind in the kitchen. The biggest drawback was the ribeye I ordered. It's known as a steakhouse but the steak was sub par. I asked the manager but he didn't have a clue about the steaks they buy. He went back to kitchen and said it was choice but it was a low quality choice almost select. I hope they fix that issue.
Restaurant was very crowded. Even though we had a reservation we had to wait at least 20-25 minutes before being seated. My 94 year old mother was with us and we would have preferred a table on the main floor, rather than having to have her and her walker climb up on step. Given the wait time we didn't dare say that the table they offered was acceptable. Who knows how much longer we would have had to wait if we had made such a request.
We been there a number of times before and it was never that crowded.
One year anniversary
Excellent every time I go. Excellent service and great food. Highly recommend.
Are you open on Christmas Eve? We had a great evening and the food was exceptional .
As steak house's go Jameson's is ok. The service was very good and my rib-eye will satisfy if you have a taste for red meat. They appear to have a good following as there were a lot of regulars so it may be my opinion but you can get a comparable if not slightly more flavorful steak at a Longhorn Steakhouse or Outback franchise.
The place needs some TLC. The cushion in the bar area corner booth has little or no cushioning any more and the spring could be felt poking at your rear end when seated. The temperature was also a nuisance. One minute you had a cold breeze blowing down your neck followed by a blast furnace of heat. It's possible the cold wasn't as bad as it seems. Maybe the heat was so powerful that when it cut out the cold seemed more artic.
Overall the service was fine, the burgers were said to be excellent, and if you sit somewhere else in the restaurant I'm sure this is a decent local place for red meat.
Bad waiter. 15 min to say hello. 15 more to get a drink. It was absurd. This place is usually spot on! So disappointing
Second time dining here and happy to be back. Reliable, deliciously prepared food. Great service.
We had been to Jameson's Charhouse many times before we moved away and ALWAYS loved eating there. We were back in Chicago and knew we had to eat dinner at Jameson's. The food in the past was ALWAYS great, especially the steaks. The steaks had little flavor. My steak was a bit tough. The vegetables were lukewarm. The baked potatoes came with no butter and we had to ask for butter. We reluctantly told the manager when he asked and he apologized and gave us free desserts. Free desserts really don't make up for a poor meal. Sadly, we will never return.
Good food reasonably priced. Extremely noisy.
The beef special was a tad overcooked but was still decent. But the rest of our meal was great. Always a good meal for the price.
I visit Jamieson’s often mostly for dinner. I am never disappointed. Quality of food, selection of item to chose from especially seafood and service always meets our expectations.
Thanks for the birthday tiramisu!
New Years Day dinner
Finally seated an hour after our reservation
It was New Year's Eve so it was quite busy but the Grecian Halibut was delicious and well worth the wait. Fantastic wait service who keep the evening fun.
It was New Years Eve so our expectations weren't high. The food was good, but no mention anywhere that it was a limited menu. It was very crowded! My husband is in a wheelchair and it was so difficult to maneuver through. We will definitely be back, but never again on a holiday. It's just not enjoyable.
