Joey Bentall One
The service was outstanding. Very friendly and helpful!
Waitress and bartender were great. Lucked out with a happy hour at the bar before our table was ready. Once we got to the table, the drinks took awhile to come along with our food. Maybe peak dinner rush? Would go again. Could have just been an off night
Warm welcome, however, they seemed to kiss checking me in on OpenTable as the hostess became somewhat flustered when she saw one of our party was in a wheelchair. She excused herself to set up our table and we were seated promptly (although I had to correct the no-show the next day). Music was deafening, but they seemed to turn the volume down about 45 minutes into the meal as the restaurant emptied.
Since this is a ‘test kitchen’, the menu is very extensive (about 10 dishes not yet on other locations’ menus), and rather than separate menus for vegetarian and gluten free, it’s all side by side. Wednesday’s are half price wine bottles, and we enjoyed a Laughingstock Portfolio blend. Their Supersonic G&T is a specialty.
The sushi, salads, veggie burger sliders and cauliflower tacos were perfect, and a baked to order rustic apple pie with maple ice cream was the perfect end to a meal with US visitors (although the server raved about the banana bread pudding being back for a limited time)!
Always a great meal at a fair price with excellent service.
Wow, 5 stars! We are delighted to hear that you had a great experience. Please say hi the next time you’re in as I would love the opportunity to meet you! Best, Nicole Tabamo Assistant General Manager
Overall it was good. The server did forget my drink but he was able to help me out.
The restaurant was able to accommodate my reservation a day before when the other restaurants didn't accept reservations.
I will come back again in the future.
Excellent meal. Our server Sabastien was phenomenal, from the moment we walked in even the hostess was extremely friendly and attentive. Highly recommend
We were on an hour lunch break. The restaurant was very busy. The server showed up at our table within moments of our being seated and she was friendly and funny. Food was arrived at our table very quickly and was hot and tasty when it arrive. It was rather noisy in there everyone having to speak extra loud to be heard.
Had to wait 20+ minutes past the reservation time as host forgot about us. The lobster Mac and cheese had no lobster in it. Service staff forgot about us for a long time. Turned the heat off so we’re freezing cold and had to ask for it to be turned back on. Disappointing experience but only in town for a couple days so made the most of it.
Went during Happy Hour. Good energetic place.
Hello AmyP, thanks for the positive feedback! We're always happy to hear good things from our customers. Hope to see you again soon! Best, Nicole Tabamo Assistant General Manager
My husband and I had a great date night here! We enjoyed the Dine Out Vancouver menu and it was amazing! All of the options were very good and tasty! We will be coming back! Get the pork dumplings!!!
Food was fine, but was really unimpressed with front end service. I had a reservation and my guest had already arrived, but the girl at the front told me there was no reservation at all. I also felt unimportant to the front desk. Most of the lunch rush was older and the front desk was dismissive to my questions.
It was our first visit to the restaurant. I likely would choose the other Joey's over this one in the future as I felt this one was more casual an environment than the other Joey's downtown. However, as a pre-game dinner location it is closer to the skytrain so for that it was ok.
I felt that this restaurant caters to "men" instead of all. The restaurant was full of men, only two women. I was there with another woman and we were ignored, where the men next to us and all around were "doted" upon. We were asked to sit in the wine room....is this where they put all the women? Out of sight? I felt like I was treated as a minority, not as a paying patron. Don't know if I'll go back
I love Joey's! My boyfriend and I went there for Valentines Day. The food was great as usual, the drinks were tasty and we even got complimentary champagne and chocolate covered strawberries for Valentines Day. The service was excellent. Overall it was a great experience. Thanks!
Central location and interesting decor, good food and fast efficient service. What's not to like?
Great place just too noisy (music)
My husband and I used the Joey gift card, a Christmas present, from my niece. We went on Dec. 30 while we were on holidays and had a relaxing lunch. Joey was a lively restaurant at lunch time. The Ahi Tuna Taco was a refreshing appetizer. The Lobster Grilled Sandwich was grilled to a perfect crisp. The Baby Back Rib was juicy, soft and tasty. We had a great time!
My friends and our daughters had a wonderful dinner at Joey Bentall before going to watch Carrie Underwood. This was our first time at this location and it did not disappoint. Food & service was great!
Although I had booked a table for 2 I had an extra guest and when they arrived they were left waiting for 10 mins even though they had said it was under my name, so that made us all late, we were put in your Wine Bar area, way in the corner with a huge table that you could hardly get in to. The server took forever to come by to take our order (as we were on a lunch time break). The food and wine was very good.
A great venue for a Christmas casual lunch get together with some fellow employees.
Have lunched there on several occasions with different friends and it is everyones favorite spot
fun place but incredibly loud the night we were there.
Excellent food and service was friendly.
The food is great, and the servers are very scenic but not quite professional. Can't beat the location though.
Our party of 8 split a couple of appetizers to start - the crab and goat cheese dip and the calamari. They were both wonderful. As well, we all received a complimentary taste size of sparkling wine. Our server was attentive but not intrusive, the food was delicious and the ambiance was perfect. Despite the restaurant being very busy at this time of year, we were well "fed and watered" within a standard lunch hour time frame. A great experience for all.
now that we've tried both Burrard St Joey's, we prefer the Robson Street one because they allow food to be pre-ordered and the food is available upon arrival which worked spectacularly for our party of 7.
otherwise, staff was fairly attentive.
I made reservations for 11 people. When we got to the restaurant our table wasn't ready. Some people from our group was running late so it worked out okay. However, we waited a long time for food as well. Most of us ordered appetizers and drinks only and the restaurant wasn't crowded so the delay was unnecessary. Also, I made a note with my reservation that we were going to be there for a birthday celebration and i requested a piece of cake with a candle after the food but that did not happen. Overall, the staff and the wine selection is great but the place is over rated. I won't be going back there agin.
Making a reservation before hand is so important because the restaurant is hot spot for lunch in downtown business area. Great food and good service. What can you ask for more? I had lunch at Joey's Bentall One, then I had late dinner at Joey's new location on Lougheed hwy at Burnaby. Both are great!
Hi, I loved restaurant and food. Unfortunately I did an online reservation a few hours before my visit. The reservation was not in the system. Fortunately it was a Wednesday night and the host was able to seat us quite rapidly. Not sure what happened to my online reservation.
Only drawback was that it was too noisy for our group and we couldn't hear each other
Colleagues got together after work. We had barely finished our food when the waitress clear our table and does not offer drink refills. She even removed the empty beer glasses and presents us with our bill. That's just short of kicking us out!
I was only there for lunch just for the food. Our waitress was unattentive and hard to track down. When we were placing our orders, she felt it was necessary to tell us how tasty each dish was and how they were her favourites. Thanks, but it seemed fake, like she was spouting off memorized script, that I'd rather have not heard it at all. The hostess was fantastic. She even remembered my name from my reservation and greeted me when I arrived.
Slightly disappointed with the service... The server knew we had to catch a show at 8pm...even though we arrived at 6pm, we didn't even get to enjoy our dessert which took forever to show up. We literally scarfed down the dessert while signing our credit card bills and finally got out of there at 7:40. There was only 6 people in our group and the restaurant was not busy. Food was good, drinks ok, service fair. I will need to rethink dinner plans for an event night.
Had a great time with great friends.
Great selection of wine. Friendly and experienced staff.
I had reservations for lunch, and looked like I was going to be about 10min late due to traffic. I called to inform the restaurant and was told that was no problem and they would inform the rest of my party. Upon arriving however, our reservation had been given away. Upon my insistence and retelling of what happened, they did find another table but looked very perplexed. Uncoordinated service. There were a multitude of hostesses, none of which obviously knew what was happening.
The food (I had the lobster raviolo) was mediocre and the prices comparable to a much better downtown Italian restaurant. The noise level was certainly not conducive to a business lunch. Definitely an overpriced, no sustance, trendy spot.
