An excellent meal with wonderful very attentive service
not worth it! over priced and horrible service all around.
As a single diner ... they wanted me to sit at the sushi bar , but did give mea table ... the food is always spectacular.
I love the foisgras tacos and the watercress beet salad ... tried it this time with the tuna ... not sure what it is ...not regular cooked or raw tuna ... more like a smoked or seasoned tuna cake slivered into the salad ... delicious!
Service is efficient... atmosphere is business-like but comfortable. Very expensive! I will be back.

What an amazing first experience! From the greeting at the door from a welcoming face i knew we found some place special. The server lead us in exact right direction. We knew we wanted to do a few things ala cart. She suggested the venison, the salmon skewers and the crispy salmon roll. She was right on! I wish i got her name, she was fantastic and knowledgeable. We got the crēme brûlée for dessert to top off a fantastic meal. Thank you to a wonderful staff and fantastic food.
Food was good but the portions were incredibly small and prices outrageous. The service was spotty at best and should have been much better considering the prices.

Food was beyond ! Saki exceptional. The hostess accommodated our requests for a corner table . Our server could not be more lovely and knowledgeable about everything .
It my new favorite go to for a fantastic meal of sashimi , great saki and a! Very sophisticated approach to casual elegance

Despite my saying am allergic to shellfish, I got food that made my lip swell the next day. The waiter was overbearing and too un-refined for a place like this. The portion and variety are not in line with the price! Never going back

Up until this experience, I could easily say Kappo Masa was one of my favorite restaurants in New York; now I do not think I will ever return. During the meal, I was eating a bowl of mushroom soba and bit into a piece of metal mixed in with the broth. While small, I cannot imagine the damage it could’ve done had I swallowed it (it was shaped like a staple and had multiple sharp edges). The manager came over to apologize, albeit tersely, and then reprimanded his staff. It seemed all was settled. When the bill came, however, I was astounded: our waitress proudly said the soba had been taken off (a given) and nothing else. How can a restaurant only take off the one item? If it were a hair I found, fine, it’s disgusting but not a hazard. This item could’ve actually done damage, and simply taking the inedible soba off is absurd. I hope from now on Kappo Masa will take better care when preparing their food and reimburse their customers properly if an error is made.
Management was a jerk — blamed mistakes on the server (who was great and not at fault). Also told the chef I had a hard shellfish allergy. He tried to had me a hand roll (during omakase) with Uni in it, which I couldn’t eat. Didn’t get a replacement roll. Later that night, had bad allergic reaction, so assume another roll had shellfish in it that I wasn’t aware of. Way too pricey for these kinds of mistakes/experience. Do not recommend AT ALL. No care for the customer.
Excellent Japanese restaurant but definitely on the pricey side. Serves both traditional Japanese Sushi/Sashimi as well as cooked Japanese dishes. Too many highlights to mention but unless in season I would stay away from the $130 truffle fried rice which can be a bit blend.
My new favorite Omakase place in NYC, including my previous trips to Masa.
The fish were mastered carefully and every piece was unique, brought to the perfection by the chef. They have very uniquely crafted pieces such as flounder fin-side, which is the first time I found in NYC given its rareness.
The dinner was designed perfectly for one person's portion, and unlikely any other omakase places, I never had a 'eh, so-so' moment out of the whole process.
The restaurant is low-key and hide underground from an art gallery in the shopping district. Not many people were there but most were regulars. It's not the quietest sushi counter but I guess it's by design as it presents itself as a collaboration. The kitchen and sushi counter combination was interesting.
Kappo Masa is definitely a favorite of ours. If we are on the UES for an afternoon of art we love nothing more then an early dinner at Kappo Masa. The food and service are always perfect. There is great selection on their menu which we are always experimenting with before their fresh and fantastic sushi. We love the fish pasta, the kale salad and the soy chicken wings, but this time we also tried the tuna avocado tartare and the beef udon and they were great. It’s a small-ish restaurant so the noise level is very manageable. We have had the same server the last 2 times and she was so accommodating and helpful. The ONLY criticism we have is on the desert menu - it needs something chocolate! But we selected 4 items for the table (creme brûlée, 2 sorbets and a lady M) and they were all delicious as usual.
