Kitaro Grill and Sushi Lounge
The best sushi around! Their sushi rolls are delicious and a work of art!
while the restaurant was not very busy, the wait staff was not very attentive.
thank you for a great lunch! Food, service and overall ambiance was great.
The Chicago Bears roll was our favorite of the rolls we tried. The quality was very good but can get pricey very quickly. For five people (one of which was a kid) our bill was close to $180 with tip.
If you order from grill make sure the food is hot by the time you get the food. They should describe the sides in more detail--difference between steak and seared steak! Steak turned out good but had to order the whole steak not the slices. I will try again because the location and the food was good overall!
nice restaurant, very clean, service was excellent, lots of variety but expensive for being in the burbs
The BEST sushi place in the 'burbs!
Great little place a bit outside of the main busy Lemont downtown area but an easy drive from downtown (less than 2 miles). They had a B1G1 half off happy hour maki roll special when we were in for dinner. It was a little pricy if we had paid full price. The food and service were very good.
The restaurant was not that busy but the service from the kitchen was exceptionally slow the night we dined there.
Delicious and reasonably priced. Will definitely go back.
Best sashimi & maki rolls around!!
We were at Kitaro on Saturday night for the first time and it was excellent from start to finish. Everything was so fresh and so good. Our server was fantastic. An all around great experience. Can’t wait to go back!
Great selection of maki, nigri, and sashimi. The ambiance is very good and makes an excellent date night. We plan to go back soon!
The food was so good.
The best sushi option by far!! Amazing, fresh sashimi in generous portions and creative and delectable rolls. You can't go wrong!
Sushi is par for the area, several locations within 10 miles offer similar sushi options in the same price range.
As for the hibachi, this is where the poor review comes from. My table of 4 had a bill of $215.00 as everyone ordered a hibachi combo. The steak was simply unacceptable, from the raw flesh I was served (and I like steak on the rare side) to the day or older fried rice out of a bucket we all received. I have never been so disappointed in a hibachi restuarant.
To sum it all up. Sushi is ok, everything else take your money elsewhere.
Nice decor, tasty roll. Really good cocktail. Close by home, convenient.
My favorite sushi joint!!!
As always, our meal was wonderful. Kitaro is our go-to sushi spot, and we are never disappointed. The cocktails were great and service was attentive and helpful. We most definitely will be back!
Generous servings of incredible, melt-in-your-mouth sashimi, creative & scrumptious roll, attentive staff that doesn't encourage you to leave. What more could one want? I was worried about the change of ownership, but no need to...it is still definitely the best sushi experience in the subjects!!!
Great sushi!!! A little overpriced for this area, but still very, very good!
One of our favorite spots. Kitaro Monster is the best roll ever
The food was amazing and the presentation was spectacular. We ordered way too much food and ended up putting the entrees right into to-go boxes. The Philadelphia roll tasted really amazing- I don't know what they did differently, but it was fantastic. Unfortunately, we did not feel the service was attentive. To be fair, it was 7pm on a Saturday.
Food was good service was great space was ok.
Magic tuna was delicious. The grilled calamari is unique and a culinary delight! We also loved the tuna tartar. Overall an amazing meal.
We had 6 items off the menu. Three had the same sauce, which was not bad, but it got pretty boring and dominated the taste of the meal. We tried two white wines, both were bad.
Amazing food, it’s truly the best sushi around, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Highly highly recommend!
A favorite ! Great food!!!
If you have not been to Kitaro this is your weekend to try as they will be celebrating their 8th anniversary. Even if you do not care for sushi, there is a "cooked food" menu.
Food was AMAZING. Service could have been better, a little slow and almost no communication.
Wonderful service, sushi was delicious and the presentation was amazing
If you are a bacon lover you need to try their MiMi's BLT.
Went on recommendation of a friend and was glad we did. Have a large variety of different types of sushi and different ways to serve them -than the usual ways. Like using rice paper instead of lots of rice. We had a grilled calamari-and it was one of the best we ever had. Can get full dinners like chicken and steak with the soup and salad, as well as appetizers and rolls. We will definitely be back.
I've been dining at Kitaro for years and have never been disappointed. The sushi is always fresh and flavorful and the seafood entrees are excellent especially the Chilean Sea Bass. The hostess, who I believe is the wife of the owner, is always pleasant and gracious. What's not to love?
Average run of the mill sushi place, nothing special.
I should start out by saying we will never dine there again. The three of us went out for dinner. Two of us eat sushi, and one doesn't. The sushi was fine, nothing incredibly special but still good. The third meal was terrible. Chicken and steak with clear soup as a starter was the order. The chicken was super dry, and the steak was just atrocious! When we mentioned it to the waitress, she said she would speak to the manager. The waitress came back and informed us we would see a 10% discount on the bill. Well, it was 10% off the meal. The bill was a bit north of $140, and stayed there. $2.50 off the bill. Laughable, really.
As for the service, the server couldn't really get a handle on things. We waited for over a half hour for the chicken and steak to come out, and it took three reminders to get water, among other issues.
Overall, I'm not sure how Kitaro stays in business. If there was any other sushi place in ten miles, I'm sure Kitaro wouldn't be able to keep the lights on.
Never had a bad meal here. This is our go to place for sushi and love it every time we are there.
Looked like it could be a romantic date-night spot. It wasn't. Felt more like a sports bar than Japanese restaurant. Food was good enough but it wasnt a good choice for our special occasion. Server was smiley but not attentive or knowledgeable.
The food, atmosphere and service were top notch, excellent excellent excellent night
Kitaro is our "go to" place for consistently great food that never disappoints! If you are not into sushi (you should be) the grill items on the menu are awesome. This is our "fast food" carry out choice but dining in is a real treat!
