Risotto cooked in a pesto sauce with jumbo shrimp, bay scallops, calamari & mussels
Squash & coriander Ravioli served in brown butter sauce with fresh basil
Slow-cooked pork shank served over a wild mushroom risotto
Forgot the appetizer, didn’t have the entree that my boyfriend ordered. Just a terrible dinner.
The food was not impressive. It did not taste bad but there was not much love in it either. I had ordered a "Chicken al tartuffo" which was described to come with wild mushrooms on the menu.
What came was a chicken breast that tasted like steamed in tomato sauce and the mushrooms were definitely not wild nor fresh. They tasted like they came out of a can. Not bad flavour overall, but not great either.
The waiters however were very friendly.
We have always enjoyed La Mezzaluna, and this visit was no different. Given all that is going on with outdoor dining, we expected that service would be slower. The restaurant was packed on a Saturday night but we still had great service. The food is always amazing and our seafood and fish were fresh and flavorful.
We loved our dining experience. The food and service were excellent. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The location is very accesible. I hope tk be back.
Convenient liquor store next door in case you forget your own alcohol for this byob.
Service was fast and friendly.
Food was very good. Would highly recommend.
We love the food here. The barramundi is outstanding and the lamb chops are divine!!!!
Love the food and the service at La Mezza Luna. The menu has good surprises.
Everyone in our group liked their food. We have been meeting in Princeton because it's central to all of us and each time we try another restaurant. This is the first time everyone said to return to La Mezzaluna!
Been going to Mezzaluna for years - continues to be one of my favorites - risotto is a must!
Great food and service and the desserts are way too good!
Despite Covid restrictions we enjoyed our evening as we always do at Mezzaluna. Of course, the street dining was a little noisy but expected. Tables were properly spaced and we felt very comfortable. We will definitely go back.
I was a little disappointed in the quality of food. I have never been here and thought I’d give it a try. Caesar salad wasn’t anything special seemed like packaged croutons and sub par dressing. There wasn’t anything wrong with the octopus appetizer or fish entree, but for the price I feel there is better value at other restaurants around town.
We loved our lunch at Mezzaluna. The quality of the food is always so great , the service so friendly and we love the ambience or the outdoor areas. Highly recommend.
La Mezzaluna is one of my favorite restaurants in Princeton, NJ. The food is delicious and they are fully committed to your happiness. Support Local!
Waited ten minutes before server approached out table. My fiancé requested certain she’ll fish be eliminated from her order. Order came out with the items she requested elimination. Went back to kitchen n came back 20 minutes later. Never go there again
First, all of the servers were delightful, from the lovely sisters to the young people bringing bread and checking to see if we had everything that we needed. The wine was phenomenal. Then there were the amazing meals, better than my little Italian grandma could make (she was a very good cook). Really wonderful, we will be back for sure.
Really great food, but service timing really weird. Had our appetizer within 10 minutes of ordering, but then took 25 min for our main. After we finished had to let someone know that we’re actually finished. We ordered dessert, then 30min later after never getting anything, we ask for the check and had to have the item taken off since we never got it. They asked if we still wanted it, but we’ve been waiting for 30 min and no one checked on us, we don’t really want to stick around any longer. Ended up grabbing kilwins across the street.
Again, I do have to say the food was really good.
The matradee was the most rude person I’ve met. He must have a special place there. He had no interest in seating us and was nasty. Won’t be coming back again
Well prepared pasta and entree. I liked the ravioli
Service was good and food was excellent. We did not have to wait long at all. They were very accommodating.
Outdoor dining set-up is lovely, and the staff manage to make it work well despite the long walks back and forth to the kitchen. Service went very smoothly.
I was excited to try La Mezzaluna to have authentic Italian food on the outdoor patio in Princeton. I made a reservation and, after arriving and waiting for ten minutes to be acknowledged by any staff, the man who finally addressed us was impatient and dismissive when I told him I had a reservation (I wanted to be certain not to lose ranking with Open Table). While we sat with our menus for nearly another 20 minutes, other tables around us receiving water, giving drink orders, having wine glasses refilled, we just sat. Once we finally gave our orders, things moved more smoothly and as I'd hoped. The other staff was pleasant and attentive; it was just the one man who ended up being our waiter who gave us an unpleasant start to our experience. The food was good but pricey.
Food was good, service was slow, but waiters were nice. It was outdoor dining, so the experience might have been different if it was indoors.
Fantastic food from a chef who cooks because its what he loves to do.
What a great dinner. All time awesome meal and incredible service. Will go back again and again.
As always. Great food
One of our favorites in Princeton. Food and service are always top notch!
Ordered gnocchi with bolanagnse sauce, sauce was not good.
Waiter was nice, service was very slow. Owner was there and acting not nice to stuff. Go there Lot, not a good brunch this time. Calamari not great and very small portion
With this pandemic eating outside is key. This was the first time dining outside at Mezzaluna . The tables on the side of the restaurant I’m the parking although cleaver was just ok. We were glad for the overhang. Our table if 4 was ok the edge ... the table for 2 against the wall
Although might have been 6’ feet felt too close
Food was great! Service was great !
The food was excellent. We had a reservation, but we arrived a little early and were seated immediately. Service was very attentive and knowledgeable. We had the truffle gnocchi which was prepared tableside and was delicious. Main course of grilled swordfish and chicken parmagiana was absolutely worth writing home about.g The only item that left a bit to be desired was the broccoli sauteed in garlic. It was a bit soggy and it tasted more like plain steamed broccoli. The cream brulee for dessert was to die for. The ambiance was great. A nice quiet, romantic, delicious dinner for two on Witherspoon Street. We will definitely be back for more.
As always very good. I wonder why Princetonians have not discovered this gem. The restaurant next door is almost packed - and the food is not nearly that good.
Confused why there were dogs allowed that barked at us all dinner but besides that it was great!
The meal is what really sends this place home! In short it was simply delicious. I'm fairly certain if it were not for the parking lot/street dining experience because of this pandemic, it'd be excellent across all rating areas.
We ate in the tented area set up for outdoor dining during COVID. Very pleasant, good spacing of tables, not too loud. The duck salad, calamari appetizer, a seafood risotto, and a chicken entree were all very good. We also enjoyed the "theater" of the fruit flambe dessert prepared tableside by Michele, the owner.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review! We are pleased that you enjoyed your evening and it sounds like you made some delicious choices. Can't wait to see you here again soon!
Celebrating daughter’s new career. This is the favorite spot for her and her boyfriend. Hosts / staff are attentive and food authentic and delicious. The outdoor dining arrangement under Covid conditions are thoughtful and pleasant. A fine Italian restaurant with real Italian cuisine.
We enjoyed our lunch in La Mezzaluna! The food, ambiance and staff are superb! The owner spent some time at our table and talked to us as well. He was awesome. We all had an amazing and wonderful time. Absolutely loved their seafood risotto!
Impeccable service from Camila and our server Mackenzie. Thank you for a great experience!
We are pleased to hear that Camila and Mackenzie provided you with a wonderful experience. Thank you for taking the time to recognize them. We look forward to seeing you again!
This was a birthday celebration for a friend.
Thanks for allowing us to celebrate with you!
Excellent place. The chicken parm was so good! Glad to have found this place.
We are so glad you found us, too! Thanks for coming in and taking the time to write a review!
