La Strada Ristorante Italiano
La Strada Ristorante Italiano has a pleasant, casual setting for dining with good food and attentive waiters. Our waiter recommended two great entrees for us, which we both enjoyed. Later we asked his advice on the dessert menu and again went with his recommendations. We now have a new favorite dessert!
Good food and attentive staff. Willing to modify dishes for special diets. Enjoyed sitting in the outdoor patio area. Quiet and comfortable at around 6:30 pm, mid-week.
My only draw back was they close very early for a food establishment 9:30 on a Saturday night was early for me.
It also seamed like out desert time was rushed so they could get the customers out the door.
the food was very good
I feel so bad about rating this restaurant so low but the food was just terrible. At least the lasagna I ordered anyway. Staff is beyond superb. Very kind & polite. This might explain why at 7:30 PM downtown Palo Alto there was not a single customer until we walked in.
Service slow at first but then improved. Excellent food - we shared pizza and pasta. Ambiance a little drab.
My first time for dinner and it was great! The food, service and ambience were excellent!! We’ll definitely be back!!
All our dishes came nicly arrangenged and were cooked to perfection, the lamb chops medium rare..
The server was friendly and attentive, only he served the sea bass without asking if he could help fillet it. The restaurant has always beautiful fresh flower arrangments. There is enough space between the tables to have a privat conversation with your company - and a big plus no unnerving music.
This used to be a great place to eat, but it's gone downhill quite a bit recently. There were fruit flies all around our table and my food came out lukewarm. It feels like they're coasting on our University Ave location.
Good ambiance, good food, poor service. Probably would go again but if I had other options I'd pick something in the similar price range with better service.
I enjoyed delicious wine & pasta a lot. I especially recommend carbonara .
Food was good but portions were quite small. Great outdoor seating, varied wine by glass options
Really cold in this restaurant, a huge draft.
The first course with shrimps, scallops and barley is just OK.
The pizza was delicious but expensive.
Food was great. Italian staples done really well. Wine list is very limited. BYOB. Would definitely return.
Food tasted good, could have a little more quantity. Nice hostess and busboy.
Asked for a round table, didn't get one. Sat us along a walkway that was breezy. Had to ask for bread, salt and pepper. Did not come around to check on us after food was served.
This was our third dinner at La Strada and each one has been spectacular. I had a truly fabulous Salmon Pantesca and my date had an excellent Eggplant Parmesan. And we've gotten the same table all three times - it's our favorite in the back at the open window to the front dining area. Prices are very reasonable, esp. for Palo Alto and the high quality of the dishes served!
The steak was chewy they had no sause at all, the scallops were good them selves but on a bed of barley? Gross. The salmon itself was good but green grapes DO NOT GO well with a almost 30$ salmon dish. Very plain not worth the money. When I go to a pricey restaurant I want to be wowed with the sauce, and how it’s plated. This place needs Gordon Ramsey desperately!
We enjoyed our dinner at La Strada. The food was not quite as good as other aspects of the restaurant, but I think I'll be back to try something else.
Food was good, but not special. The evening was cold and there is no atrium so whenever the door opens there is a cold draft. Noise level was acceptable.
Wonderful evening. Shrimp and scallop appetizer was amazing, as well as entrée of salmon and grilled vegetables. Chocolate lava cake with vanilla gelato topped off the wonderful meal. Great wine and great service.
Food is just OK/average for Italian in the US. Good service, quiet place with good atmosphere.
A reliable neighborhood gem for very good pizzas, meatballs, risotto, calamari. Great for groups.
I usually don’t eat pasta at restaurants. I’m half Italian and have high standards. This place serves great Tagus and excellent home made pasta.
Great good and fast service
Wonderful food and service! They offered great recommendations.
We showed up at the restaurant a few minutes early only to find them closed and with a sign on the door saying they were closed on the 9th and would reopen on the 10th. While there might have been a good reason for the unexpected closure there is no excuse for failure to notify us about the closure when we had a chance to make of other plans.
We again really enjoyed the butternut squash ravioli. La Strada is one of our top choices when my wife and I walk downtown for lunch.
Diet coke tastes bitter. They said there is something wrong with diet drinks. I expected the nto offer some other soda. They did not have somehow...
We had a 9:30 reservation confirmed through Open table; once we arrived (at 9:30) we were told they would not serve us, and stopped accepting people at 9; very disappointing since it was my birthday and we had to scramble to find something else, end up having probably the worst dinner ever, food was bad at this other location.
Perfect dinner spot for parent and students
Dinner was delicious and the service excellent—very attentive! Will definitely go back again soon.
Very good find. A lot of good pasta dishes but fish on the menu too. Have had the gnocchi, paccheri and the pappardelle. All delicious. They do great ragouts with all the pasta - pork or veal or lamb. Stone oven for great pizzas. Nice bar where you can get a martini for $11. All the pastas under $20. Very good food and great prices gives it an "outstanding" for value.
Food and service were excellent. Loved sitting outdoors. Will definitely be back.
Food was good, but service was inattentive. Several times, we wondered if our waiter (Jose) had gone on break. It didn't even look that busy.
Don’t bother. Too many other places that actually enjoy food service.
The waiter was extremely pushy, literally within 60 seconds of bringing out our appetizer he brought our salad. Literally five minutes after bringing out our salad he brought our entrées,… That doesn’t work for me.
Great Italian food at reasonable prices. We were promptly seated and our food arrived in less than 5 minutes after ordering. Our entrees, Linguini with Bolognese Sauce and Roasted Salmon, were delicious. Portions were amply sized, allowing us to take home enough for a second meal. We enjoyed friendly and professional service in a pleasant setting, with several tables in a quiet back area for more intimate conversations. Definitely recommend!
We were able to get our desired time-slot on a very short notice. The service was very good. Mostly, the food was great. And, its right downtown, so we were able to have a nice walk afterwards.
I've dined here a few times and the food has been consistently good. The prices are reasonable for a nice restaurant in downtown Palo Alto.
Servers were over worked. Delayed service for us. Food was average at best.
