The meal was exceptional and the wine selection as well!
Beautiful setting. Great service. Slightly limited menu as they reopen and everything on the menu was delicious. Highly recommend for brunch.
We celebrated our nephews 16th birthday here, his choice! We all enjoyed our meal and Shane our server was amazing and so patient with us. Can’t wait to come back!
It has improved quite a lot since initially opening after the pandemic. This time the server was more attentive. They include a 15% service fee (gratuity). I think it is a good idea to give an additional tip for great service.
They did not do afternoon tea but advertised it. Kitchen closed 10 mins after we arrived. Will never go back.
I really wanted to write a great review, because I really like the staff and they're very kind, but it was expensive ($26 entree, $7 Latte), a poor execution with a long delay in serving (30 Minutes +/-, I timed it.)
The omelette was made on a flat-top, not an Omelette Pan, was overcooked and rolled, with fried, cubed potatoes and dry wheat toast that wasn't hot. The sausage side was tasteless and dry, but the bacon was decent...not great...not bad.
Overall - Definitely Skip the Laurel Court Breakfast.
Instead, try the Eggs Benedict at Mama's off of Washington Square in North Beach.
I would rate it 1/5 Stars, but the very nice staff get the Extra Star for their service with a smile.
Their Bar in the afternoon delivers a stellar, ice cold beer in a chilled glass...so...take the good and leave the rest. **BTW - No Bar in the Mornings, so No Bloody Mary or Mimosa to clear the cobwebs of the previous night, or add to Biscuits (.
The Fairmont Hotel San Francisco of the 80's and 90's was great, with a booming business and entertainers, Brasserie Restaurant, Crown Room at the top of the Tower, The Venetian Room hosting headliners like Mel Torme and Tony Bennett, Bella Vocce Restaurant, Tonga Room, etc., etc.
That was then, and unfortunately The Fairmont San Francisco is a shadow of it's former self coming out of CV-19 Lockdown, so maybe they need some time to get back to former form. I really wanted the French Onion Soup from the Brasserie Bistro days, but it was not to be found for Breakfast...but maybe Dinner?
The Tonga Room is still alive, albeit crawling with Gen-Z'ers and oversubscribed, but the drinks are good as long as you get a reservation in the roped-off area. I would also skip the Tonga Room especially if you need to socially distance for health reasons - Gen-Z'ers not masking at all.
Our server was excellent. Wish the hostess would have given us a paper menu. It took a little long to get our food but it was good.
We had planned lunch here and found they serve breakfast until they close at 1pm and also had breakfast the following day. The menu is limited and no real lunch or brunch options. Both times we had mushrooms in our eggs that were extremely over powering in flavor. The breakfast potatoes were really good, soft and flavorful but not crunchy and they offer gluten free toast. But not a lot of vegan or gluten free options. The server went above and beyond in making sure we were well taken care of. Bloody Mary with both meals was tasty and not too hot/spicy.
I didn’t find anything exceptional about Laurel Court. I ordered a steak, the presentation was just ok, so was the taste. I would encourage the kitchen staff to at least serve the hot dishes in a warm plate. The service was also just ok.
Unfortunately, very disappointed. As an SF native and married to also an SF native, we both have visited the Fairmont SF Hotel various times to have a nice experience, especially in the Laurel Court Restaurant & Bar to dine. The crab that came with our order was not fresh at all, and the eggs were not tasty as we remembered. They had a minimal menu and not much to pick from. I hope they upgrade the menu to provide a more quality experience for the price and establishment.
We had breakfast reservations & the service was terrible. It took 10 minutes for a waiter to help us & he was rude. The food was mediocre for the price. Definitely wouldn’t dine there again
Fairmont Hotel is always the best, most elegant place!
The food was horrible. Everything was served COLD! The seating was horrible, blocked views from most of the tables. Everyone I talked to felt overcharged as a whole. Everyone I talked to won't be coming back, not at $95.00. In SF you can go to bars in the Castro and see pretty much the same shows.
First drag brunch at the Fairmont was fabulous! The food was great, the queens spectacular, not to mention the bottomless mimosas. I hope this is a regular thing but it’s my new favorite venue for a drag show
Amazing pride brunch. Food was excellent and the hotel staff were amazing.
We were there for the Drag show, what fun!!
Brunch was delicious and the service was stellar in a beautiful setting. Next time we’re in San Francisco we’ll be certain to dine here again.
I made reservations for my girlfriends birthday last night and did not receive any service other than drinks. We waited one hour to have our dinner order taken and we Ended up going back to our room and ordering Chinese food takeout. Birthday dinner ruined.
Came for Mother’s Day afternoon tea. My first time at the sf fairmont for tea. I have been to the lake Louise chateau in Canada and really enjoyed the experience. I will say the food did not meet my expectations. And with a 1k Bill I would imagine the food to be of better quality. I’m not sure if it’s a problem with the kitchen at the sf fairmont but I had the same issue a few years ago when I went to their Tonga room. The place is beautiful, service was good, the food is lacking.
Very enjoyable and nice
We love the laurel court and especially the piano player.
Okay but not worth the money. Good was fair, service was fair. There for the historic setting only.
Food & Service was very good. We are not big eaters, so we were able to share the Mediterranean Salad & the Burger.
Great venue, fourth time for dinner
Enjoyed a champagne brunch. Beautiful atmosphere and incredibly attentive service in an exquisite old hotel.
Great location with amazing ambience. The menu was a bit different and not as fabulous as in the past. But all and all, it is a great dining experience.
The desserts weren’t anything to write home about but the sandwiches and scones were amazing!
This was our third or fourth time at high tea, lovely as always!
We tried hard to like this restaurant, but the service and the food were lacking. We waited 55 minutes to be served food that was lackluster and unseasoned. Our server asked if everything was okay, but walked away while we were saying that it wasn't. The setting is charming in its old-school way, but the menu could use a real upgrade, as could the level of service.
I generally LOVE the Fairmont Hotels in all my travels however this restaurant does not come close to the standard that the Fairmont brand upholds.
Feedback for the senior management team on this restaurant:
-Outdated decor in restaurant despite it’s opulence. The decor just feels dreary and tired and does not feel pleasant to dine nor lounge in.
-the breakfast buffet was nothing special at all with little variety and creativity, lack of interesting culinary options, nothing gourmet nor modern at all, just really fell flat, there are many better choices out there for luxury dining experiences. This buffet overall was absolutely not great value for what we received and money is not an issue for me, but I also respect my money and don’t like wasting it.
- our server was extremely attentive and took very good care of our needs. That said, staff just generally didn’t seem to enjoy their jobs. Rarely did anyone ever crack a smile nor seem happy to be working and serving.
- the overall dining experience was just such a let down especially given that I know what the Fairmont brand name can and usually does deliver in most other cities age locations internationally.
I NEVER write reviews and I’m known to be I’m a VERY positive individual. I am sharing this with you because I love and care about the Fairmont brand and on the off-chance this feedback reaches the right motivated senior manager who equally admires the Fairmont, that it might make a difference in some way.
I hope you receive this feedback in the positive spirit with which it is intended.

We liked the layout of the restaurant, got a nice table, had a very friendly and attentive server, and liked the food.
Waiter had perfect timing for taking order and pouring our wine.
We enjoyed our afternoon tea, service was excellent. Only negative was it was cold in the restaurant. I had to keep my coat on during lunch .
The breakfast buffet is wonderful. Everything is of the highest quality.
A good value considering the quality and plentiful selection.
Food was excellent. Nice to be accommodated. We had a light meal.
I love a good high tea, and The Fairmont hosts one of my favorites in The City. A delicious selection of teas and treats served in a gorgeous room. It's reasonably priced compared to many of the other tea houses nearby. Highly recommend!
Though some of our experiences could've been smoother had our host presented some guidance, I can't blame anybody as I forgot to tell the host that we'd be redeeming the voucher! Overall great experience :-D
Have you noticed that when a restaurant is slow and eventhough there is an abundance of staff the service is slow? It was that last night. We just arrived from the east and had an early, 6pm, dinner. We flagged down a server.
The restaurant got busy and service appeared to be better. I didn't care for the corn flake crusted Branzino either.
