On the night of our visit, we were seated at a table for two along the wall. A table of 10 was seated next to us and a table for six behind us. Our waitress struggled to reach our table (walking sideways) and had to ask a patron to stand in order to serve the table of six. So while our dinner and the service was good, the noise level and crowded tables took away from the experience. Disappointing since we were celebrating our anniversary, which was noted in the reservation, but not acknowledged.
Very good food, but our experience was marred by excessive, totally unacceptable, noise. A couple next to us simply got up and left. We stayed--with ear plugs.
No way to generalize, it could have been a one-off deal, so we probably should give it another chance--at a different time. But it was what it was this time.
As in the past, the food and service at Le Bouchon were delightful. The ambience is very pleasant, although sometimes a bit cramped and more than a bit noisy. It is one of our all time favorites.
Food and drink are both carefully thought out and prepared to order, not sitting around on a warming table. we loved the scallops and the trout en croute; will try the rabbit on our next visit
Wonderful as always, best French food in Chicago. Amazing service with wine pairing suggestions from Heather. Cheers!
Second time there. Last time we were seated right in front of bread and beverage station so it was not as nice ambiance. This time we sat in the window and it was great! Food is fantastic! Most French restaurant in terms of feeling like a true Parisian bistro! Love love love!
We had a table of 5. Service, food were excellent! It’s an intimate space, and so a little noisy. All in everyone fully enjoyed the meal and the occasion.
Incredible meal and overall experience. The escargot, Lyonnaise salad, Whole Duck, cheese and wine were all top notch. Didn't hurt that Monday is half off wine night!
Exceptional at every aspect of dining! Frequent visitor
I love Le Bouchon! The mussels are the best I’ve ever had...
Le Bouchon is still amazing after all these years. They have not lost a step. The best traditional french food in an intimate setting.
So reliable. Always delicious food, great service and great wines.
Best restaurant in Chicago beynd a shadow of a doubt. Food, service, and ambiance always exceed expectations by lightyears. Should be considered the industry standard bearer. Nothing compares. Every experience somehow supersedes the previous...... so obsessed!!!@@
Wonderful french bistro food, cozy atmosphere, great service.
The food was superb and the service was excellent! We can’t wait to go back!!!
Being French, I grew up on these recipes and I am easily disappointed. This felt 100% authentic. The wine selection was great too. Can’t wait to go back.
Absolutely outstanding! Will definitely be back!
Service was excellent! French onion soup excellent! Steak was very good but garlic butter on top was a bit too much... Salmon in pastry was under cooked.
We’ll be back.
Great food and service however high noise level on Friday night
Great classic Bistro with an excellent wine list and spirits selection. Well executed classic bistro cuisine.
We love visiting Le Bouchon - we got engaged in Paris and love coming to eat here and pretending we're back. The food is delicious, and you cannot go wrong with tuesday deal of the 3 course for $38 pp - so great! Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because there is work to be done with their desserts - they're lackluster and often flavorless. And I love desserts and Le Bouchon, so it breaks my heart to say that. I got their special Peach Bread Pudding and it didn't taste one bit like peach, though the texture was spot on. Otherwise, I couldn't recommend this restaurant more!
Food was terrible. I got escargot and the snails were not marinated. No flavor. It was like chewing rubber. Then they recommended trout en croute saying it looks good and taste good. The presentation was not pleasant and it tasted gross. Service was ok. They served the bread and one piece of bread fell on the table and she just put it back on the plate. Would not come back
Corn soup and skatewing wete killer.
the closest thing to being in Paris. The roast duck is the best in the city.
Oliver and fam continue to have the best restaurant in Chicago
Always fabulous. A favorite “date night” destination. Great food, friendly service, cozy atmosphere
You can search all over Chicago (and I have) for a more authentic French bistro, but you won’t find one.
Outstanding restaurant, food and service! The most authentic “bouchon” in Chicago!
Not only does Le Bouchon just capture everything about being a Parisian Bistro, it just leaves you happy!!!!!
Always a great experience! Outstanding food and service.
Food was delicious! Tuesday’s Prix-Fixe menu is a great deal! But overall, everything was delicious (as expected) and service was outstanding! I wish the location was bigger though, but it’s nice and intimate.
This restaurant never disappoints! Tremendous food, terrific staff and wonderful Paris Left Bank atmosphere!!
There were quite a few items not available during my visit. It's casual place. Neighborhood gem. One can enjoy a good meal without breaking the bank.
A bit cramped but it was nice
Clearly chef was out of town......
I've lived in Logan Square for 10 years and spend a lot of time in Bucktown. I've wanted to come to Le Bouchon for a very long time, but always foolishly go for the up and coming restaurants. Luckily, I finally booked a reservation and I would be dead if I could have been more blown away!
The 3 of us split the escargot (soo rich and tender), steak tartare (refreshing and perfect consistency), mussels (best mussel broth I have ever had), grilled quail (two birds!! a big portion and easily the prettiest and most savory of what we tried) and 1/2 roasted chicken (with a phenomenal potato puree; crunchy chicken skin and delicious overall; recommended if you don't want to split the pecking duck, which is the Le Bouchon recommendation). We also shared creme brulee topped with strawberries. Everything on this menu that we shared, including the table bread, just hit every note that a French bistro should, as well as all the rest.
Service is deeply ingrained into this 20+ year seasoned Chicago staple and you'll be happy with every touch point of hospitality. It's an exceedingly quaint bistro that will seriously melt you in your seat with the experience, so much so that I would say it's a good idea to keep your night open because you're likely to want to soak it up with a couple bottles of wine and savor the experience.
Crowded little place but great food
Food was outstanding . We ordered several appetizers then put in an order for the duck. We were told it would be 45 minutes. We ordered anyway and it was worth the wait! Sooooo good. However, waiter should have told us it was 45 minutes when he gave us our menus.
