Amazing Valentines Dinner
Superb ambience and wait staff. For those with sound volume concerns, the main rooms less noisy than the side room which is tiled. Really attentive and friendly wait staff. I had the fish with green beans; beans were perfect and the fish was slightly overdone, to my surprise. Bread made up for it - fantastic. It was a little bit of Paris in the middle of DC. If I lived near by, I would be there every day for a cafe and croissant! I will return for sure.
Great food, as always, but service was not what it usually is at Le Diplomat. Server kept forgetting to bring me things I asked for. I never did get ketchup for my fries and gave up asking after the third time. He looked a bit frazzled as the place was packed. But overall it was a good dining experience.
Very chilled and welcoming. I love the food there.
Food was amazing, the flavors will wake up your sense of taste. Delicious! Service was very attentive without being annoying. Absolutely perfect!
Amazing food! Fun atmosphere , we felt like we were in a French bistro!
Beautiful French Brasserie with excellent outdoor seating pods. Service was excellent as was the warm shrimp salad and creme brulee dessert. Steak poive and steak frites were tasty.
Lovely waiter and delicious food, good wine selection. However, so loud as to be nearly unbearable. I missed half of the conversation.
The food was excellent as usual but the customer service by our waiter Drew was very subpar. I understand that the restaurant can be very busy but that does not excuse the lack of polite and respectful communication by your waiter. When we first arrived at the table, he failed to acknowledge our presence for at least 10 minutes. We had to flag him down just to get water. Then when he finally arrived at our table, his behavior was very brisk even when asked about certain items on the menu. When he brought our drinks and food, he would drop off our order at the table and leave without a word which I thought was rude. We also had to ask for every item we wanted like bread and flag him down to get our coffee and water refilled. I could excuse this behavior as just being overwhelmed during a busy time but I noticed that the table next to us who were an older white couple ordering “bottles” of wine were treated nicer than our table. My two friends who are regulars at the restaurant also noticed that the table service was lacking. The services provided by the hostess and bartender were excellent.
It’s all bout the bread - and it’s the very best at Le Dip.
As usual the food was outstanding!! The only disappointing moment was being told that there is now a $1.00 per Olive change for blue cheese olives.
Not sure what happened with the DC dining scene overall - and Le Diplomate's cuisine in particular - but the quality of food last night was really mediocre. Too salty, too dry, plates and table settings not representative of the status of the restaurant and the image they want to maintain. The only Ok thing was an item no one really 'cooked' - the raw tuna carpaccio. Won't be returning again.
Also it was a birthday celebration and we mentioned in the reservation that we wanted a candle on the dessert or smth but our request was ignored. Very disappointing.
Outdoor dining brings with it the great food and service but without the crazy decibel levels indoors.
The food was very good, space was well decorated, and restroom was clean.
Went for early weekday brunch (only reservation we could get!) Service was very attentive. Ambiance was superb (Le Diplomate is one of the few American French cafes I’ve been to that actually seems as if it could exist in Paris.) I didn’t especially like my entree (poached eggs Basquaise- scant amount of prosciutto and too liquidy polenta) but I think I just chose poorly. Excellent bread for the table made up for it. All in all, a very enjoyable way to spend a morning off.
It was amazing from start to finish. The food was heavenly. Douglas was the absolute best.
Service and food was mediocre. The restaurant is very loud, server not well trained, very rushed. So many better restaurants in DC, don’t waste your time or money..it’s way to hyped up. I was very disappointed and will not return.
Outstanding Sunday brunch! Food was fantastic from the Steak & Frites and Eggs Benedict to the Profiteroles for desert. Service was great and our server did a great job of keeping our Mimosas freshened up. Can't wait for our next visit!
Great food, drinks and service
Loved the ravioli and the mac n cheese. Profiteroles and the raspberry dessert were amazing!!
They made our special occasion feel so special. We had a wonderful time.
Beef bourgignon A, mussels B (broth not very flavorful), quiche B+, pastry basket B- (you've changed it and left out some of the best pastries), bread basket A+, espresso martini A, rose wines A, salade verte A+, service A, ambience A-, value A-/B+. Overall B+
We decided to go here because if a friends recommendation. We ended up having the best time - we had a fabulous waiter who brought us to-die-for espresso martinis, croque madam, the crispy chicken club, and the most delicious bread basket sliced at the countertop near the entrance. 10/10
We were in DC for the weekend. Brunch here was amazing. Though reservations are recommended. It was very busy even at 9:45am. Food was exceptional and our waiter was attentive.
We celebrated our anniversary with our kids. It was very busy and energetic and the food and service were excellent.
Great place for a special occasion!
Beef bourguignon was fabulous! We felt like we were dining on a Paris street in a Paris Cafe. Highly recommend it!
Food and ambiance was amazing! Service could have been a bit more attentive but the food and ambiance make the experience worthwhile.
Food was salty
Felt like we were in Paris.
Everything from the service, to the drinks, and the food was amazing! A tad on the loud side for us but that doesn’t take away from everything else!
Every bite was incredible. Server was wonderful. I’m so sad we won’t be able to come here regularly, since we’re from another state. I would eat here again in a heartbeat. Will recommend it to everyone I know who comes to DC.
Le Diplomate NEVER disappoints! Great food, excellent wines, knowledgeable wait staff, and fun vibe. The trout almandine is the best in the world (or, at least in MY world), but don’t be afraid to jump into something you’ve never tried.
Simply put, our very favorite spot to eat in town. Every dish reliably delicious and ambiance feels festive and fun.
The food was amazing and the ambiance truly felt like a French cafe!
A must go for when you have friends or family in town.
