Le Diplomate

Sadly, another awful experience at Le Diplomate. I even emailed the manager that reached out to me after our last awful experience, and guess what? No reply, no one had read our request posted in Open Table for an outside table since we have a family member with a preexisting condition, the waiter was nice but we practically had to tackle him to get service, the bill was wrong and it took over 20 minutes to get it fixed while we’re sitting there freezing...just horrendous...AGAIN. We live 1/2 a block from Le Diplomate and have been coming since it opened...it used to be good. Now it’s a poorly managed, overpriced joke in a town full of better restaurants. Goodbye forever, Le Diplomate!

The heaters didn’t really work at all.

Most wonderful restaurant in Washington DC. The food is always exceptional; all the items on the menu are perfectly prepared. The staff is so friendly, amazingly knowledgeable, and help to make the experience always a special one.

Great experience. Excellent food and service. It was our 24th anniversary and we left the restaurant wishing to return shortly. I recommend to everyone.

Fabulous food and presentation. Loved our private pod. Would have loved a heater in the pod.

The diplomate never fails to impress - absolutely amazing food and dining experience.

We sat in the private covered constructions they have built but we froze as the heater was not strung enough

The food was on point and delicious, but our experience was a bit sour because the service wasn’t at its best. Some hosts were rude, especially at the entrance of the restaurant. I know we are living in uncertain times with Covid-19, but having courtesy is vital. I was dying to visit this restaurant, and now I'm just disappointed.

I had a nice dinner in the heated “chalet” outdoor dining option. It was fairly warm inside the chalet and protected from the wind. The temperature outside was approximately 30degree F so while it was warmer inside the chalet, I did keep my winter coat on. The food was great, as usual. My main complaint is that the dinner felt rushed since the reservations now have a time limit- 1.5 hours for 2 people, 2 hours for 3+people and so on depending on party size. My party had 3 people, and we ordered appetizers, a bottle of wine, dinner, and dessert. Dinner was served when we were still enjoying our appetizer which led to dishes shuffling around and a bit of an inconvenience. Towards the end of our meal the wait staff kept checking in and hovering around our chalet. We were considering another bottle of wine, but the staff reminded us of the time and that we were due to leave in 15 minutes. This led to having to quickly finish eating the delicious pot de creme and no time for coffee or additional drinks. I understand that restaurants are trying to adapt to COVID dining in the best way possible...however I do want to point this out to other diners. Do not expect a relaxed French dining experience.

Le Dip is our go to in DC. We had the King Crab app, Duck, Burger, Profiterole... ALL were amazing as usual!

Phenomenal outdoor dining experience with quiet private (and heated) booths that offer a great deal of partitioning between you and your fellow diners. This will be my new “go-to” COVID dining destination! Their moules frites were the best mussle dish I’ve had in my life. Packed with fresh herbs, garlic, and butter. I highly recommend Le Diplomate to anyone in search of a sense of a traditional feeling restaurant experience during these challenging times.

The outdoor cubicles are covid-19 protected and well heated. Great solution for a great meal

We ate here for my birthday dinner and it was a great experience. They only had outdoor seating available but the little huts have heating in them and we were very warm. The beef bourguignon was delicious as were the profiteroles for dessert. We tried a few cool cocktails and overall it was a wonderful meal. Would highly recommend!

We went on Inauguration Day, which is also my birthday. We sat in one of the heated booths outside which was very cozy on a cold evening. LeDip is my favorite restaurant in Washington and we often go there for special occasions. The waiter was very attentive.

The appetizers and dessert were excellent, we had the beet salad and ravioli, and the crepe brûlée for dessert. The entrees were a bit disappointing- the lobster risotto and the mules frites were good but not as good as other dishes we have had in the past.

We will definitely go there again and recommend the restaurant to our friends.

Amazing experience! Amazing food! Amazing atmosphere. We sat outside in their temporary street tables and it was beyond nice. The outside tables are heated and have dividing walls for the ultimate COVID safe dining experience. Would recommend it to anyone.

Went to celebrate and it did not disappoint!

I really hope Le Diplomate receives this review. My best friend and I had such a good time. I loved the private areas they built and our server Geda was amazing. He gave great recommendations, he was funny and he took great care of us. My meal was incredible and Geda even brought us a little treat. I really enjoyed everything.

Birthday celebration

Our food was great, per usual.
Additionally, our server Matthew was one of the best servers we’ve had in quite some time.

This was for my beloved’s birthday. I had the scallops and he the had beef bourguignon. It was an elegant and perfect place for celebrating. Excellent service.

I was so happy to return to Le Diplomate after a year away.

The outdoor seating was beautiful and comfortable.

Amazing Covid outdoor experience! All was spectacular! The heaters, the service, the food, and the way they created lots of comfortable and safe outdoor space!! Relaxing and much appreciated getaway for these times!!

We were put on the outside corner (outside the hostess stand) which is more exposed to the “outdoors”, where we knew would be a little more chilly but assumed the heater would protect us. We quickly realized the heater dod not work. After sitting there shivering and asking both the hostesses as well as our waiter to help assist with the heat (several times), the problem was never resolved and we had to cut the brunch early and go home to warm up. Beyond that food was delicious per usual.
